The most professional towing place I've ever dealt with! I had a tire blowout on 55 south in Sherman. Heather answered the phone and dispatched a driver on her way home. Called back several-times to give me updates on the status of the driver showing up. Btw I had a Chevy 3500 with a 48 ft trailer and a full load of cargo. I needed new mower tires put on wheels. I called about 2pm on a Friday. They said no problem bring them in & someone will put them on. I go right there & she said everyone had left for lunch. She said they would do it when they got back & she would call me when done. She said they were open till 6. No call back. At 5:30 I called. A man said the gal I spoke with was busy & that they wouldn't get to my tires until Monday. No apologies or explanation. I needed this done before the rain & just wasted my only window of getting it done before the rain. When I arrived to pick up my stuff, it was right where I left it untouched. There were six people sitting in the office. No one even got up to greet me or ask if they could help me. I grab my tires & thanked them for wasting my time. I do not recommend Shaners. From start to finish, Ken and Thomas were incredibly polite, friendly and professional. Being that they saw I was in a dangerous situation and came to assist without being dispatched, shows the kind of people they are and the kind of company that they work for. The entire process took about 30 minutes from getting the car on the flatbed to me being back on the road with my spare tire. Well the company called me and kept trying to ask me could they just fix my tire and I drive my camper. They kept asking me why dont I just do it. Then the guy was like oh I see you dont have rv service with aaa so you aren't covered for that so that will be $500 out of pocket cost to you. So I got off the phone with him. Then I called aaa and paid for the rv service and they said it would be covered but I cant use it til 72 hours has passed. Well here we are 4 days later I called aaa for my camper to get towed and they dispatched this company once again. The lady was kind she wasn't the problem it was the man in the background who said something about me calling a few days ago and that it will be $500 out of pocket price. I told the lady no thats not correct i paid aaa for rv service and that i was covered. I called aaa and the lady said yes ma'am you are covered for up to 200 mile tow, then I told her its saying up to 100 miles so if I needed to change the address for drop off I would. She was like no its covered. I spoke to another aaa man and explained to him what was happening he said no thats not right at all and I requested and he refused this towing company for me. I just dont think this company is very honest because how is it $500 out of pocket cost at first since I didn't have rv service and then i pay for the rv service and that lying greedy money hungry man lies and says it the same $500 out of pockect cost after I paid and waited the 72hours for the rv service. These guys towed me from Springfield to Decatur, where they replaced my alternator the same evening and sent me on my way. Given the circumstance, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Very rude and drivers are very hostile . I called at 515 am to get a tow gave them all the info on car where it was and what was wrong with it . Fist driver shows up sits in his truck for a few minutes when he got out was just not friendly at all told me he had police call he had to get to those are priority witch I understood that and he proceeded to leave . So I called back and spoke with guy on phone he said first guy said he couldn't get to it . Car was in a parking lot with back and front of car exposed to get to . I said to guy on phone I would have thought he could have got it is all I said and that I appreciate him sending another driver . About 30 min later the guy who answered phone showed up gets out of the truck .And first thing he say s in angry hostile yelling tone you going to tell me how to drive a**hole I said u don't have to be rude he proceeds to get in my face and verbally threaten me to cause physical harm I told him to go I didn't need his service after a few minutes he finally left . I was working in Decatur, IL (from out of town); Shaner towed my 2020 Mercedes GLC 300 last week because of a flat tire and apparently the guy did not even know how to properly hook it on to the flatbed trailer for transport. They damaged my anti-lock braking sensor under the vehicle during towing! Now the owner won't even return my calls to make good on the damage they caused! Do NOT use this company. I was on my way home to Kansas City from a soccer event in Chicago and two rear tires blew on the 12 passenger van i was driving. Shaner's sent Jake to the rescue. He was so kind and patient with us. He had us laughing during a stressful time and helped us navigate how to retrieve new tires from a tire shop that was closing for the day. Didn't ask for payment when vehicle was towed. But called the next day demanding payment as if I was trying not to pay them. Wow, where do we even start. Unknowledgeable on how to tow electric cars, horrible customer service, husband and wife team that lets personal issues affect the way the run the business. First Bob and Don the drivers were absolutely amazing and didn't want to be in this situation. This towing company was to pick up and tow my car overnight, they did not, so the following morning BMW had Abraham Lincoln Towing company come out to tow the car. After they showed up they realized the doors were locked, looks as if Shaner's showed up prior and took my keys. At this time, two other Shaner's drivers show up alongside the Abraham Lincoln Towing company...this is Bod and Don, again great guys...They explain they have my keys and have possession of the car so ALT leaves. During this time BMW assistant is telling me that Shaner's is reporting that the car has already been delivered to BMW, which it has not been. This is where the issues start, I get another phone call from BMW and notice that this is a different lady, she comes off very rude and inconsiderate (turns out this is the owners wife) while speaking with her she tells me the car isn't going to be towed today and that the car will sit overnight in the lot...I make it very clear that I'm not the one paying for the tow idc how it gets towed it can go to the lot then towed again the following day to BMW, since they don't have a drop lot. Another lady takes over the car, much nicer...turns out it's BMW and she is super nice and I then make it clear that the other lady needs to take a breather and treat customers with better service than what she did. (This whole time I have no idea it's Shaner's towings wife that was rude) BMW says they will call back, about 5 min later Bob and Don show up and explain to me that Shane spoke with them and he has decided to not pick the car up and leave it since that was his wife that was on the line (the rude lady). They end up leaving and not towing the car. What this shows is that Shaner's has horrible customer service, and allows there personal issues affect the way they conduct business. read more

Got stuck in Springfield while driving in from Texas in the storm of Dec 2013. They do more than tires. They jump start cars, tow, and service cars. While they could not fix my truck, since they did not have a lift in the garage, they tried their best. They were nice enough to tow me to the dealership (although the dealer was shutdown). They dropped me off at the nearest hotel since I was literally stranded with no car and no cabs running!They were one of the few businesses open during the crazy storm. Jim in dispatch, the finance gentleman (with the beard), the girls, and all the crew were awesome. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. The owner is BLESSED to have such a great crew working for him. I hope he appreciates them as much as they deserve! read more

We got stuck in Springfield when the transmission on my car went. Tony, the driver, and his helper showed up and not only took care of us quickly and easily, but went above and beyond to make sure that we weren't stranded, left at a shop that wouldn't see us, or any other combination of bad outcomes. We were really lucky that Shaner's has such standup guys, who made sure we made it to our hotel and that our car could get serviced at the right place. They even helped me deal with AAA and gave good advice about how to finish our journey, and got us a discount at the hotel. I wish I could leave a zero, this was the worst experience I could have had, broken toe rod end so steering was out told them to send a wheel dolly, driver showed without one, this was Saturday, I told them no problem do it Monday first thing. They jerked me around till noon I said come first thing Tuesday, I've been on the phone every hour it is now noon again and canceled the tow and went with tux horn. Run/run/run! I would really like to be able to leave 0 stars! Daughter got in a wreck, Wife called Shaner's for a tow, they said it would be a $125,........ Until she told them it would be going to a personal residence, instead of to their lot, "where they could charge a storage fee". Then, the tow charge got up'd to $175, Supposedly the extra $50 was for oil dry, and extra labor; Which to the best of my knowledge was not used. . This was for a 10 block tow. Paid 1300 dollars for new timing belt. Car started very weird as soon as I got it back. Took it directly back to shop. The mechanic said that was normal. Car eventually wouldn't start. They convinced me to pay to get little things fixed saying "absolutely this will make your car start" and once at the shop it completely wouldn't start. They could not even figure out what was wrong with it. Had to junk the car and they called the place I was junking it to, to ask how much they were getting for it. DO NOT TRUST! They will work with the police and come hook your car without permission before you even have the chance to call your insurance company and pick who you want to tow your vehicle. This is what happened to me. Then went to get my car after and got nothing but disrespect from just about everyone there. My car was towed here after it was involved in an accident and totalled. Receptionist said towing,and two days storage would be $390 She also said that they would cancel the charges if I turned in the title. She also said that I could not remove any of my daughter's possession from the car! When I returned to turn in the title I was told that they could only give me $200 for the vehicle and I would have to pay the difference. In other words, they changed what I was originally told face to face. After arguing with them the fee was reduced to $45. I would not recommend this company. The guys in the back were helpful but the front office and customer service was awful. After I turned in the title I was allowed to remove my daughter's possessions. read more

First, I would like to start with this is the first review I have ever written, so you can tell I just feel that strongly about the experience I had with Shaner's. On a very stormy day, I was driving back home and stopped to get gas about 40 minutes outside of Springfield, IL. Coming out of the gas station, I hit the median in the road, and blew out my front and back passenger side tires. This being the first time I have ever needed a tow, I had no idea what to do and was pretty scared being in the middle of nowhere. Since it was around 9 PM, a lot of places were closed and with the pouring rain no one wanted to come out and tow me. Finally a police officer called around for me and recommended Shaner's in Springfield. They were very willing to come out in the rain and get me back to their shop to change the tires (they also said they could drive me to a hotel if I needed to stay overnight). The man that drove me (I forget his name but really wish I hadn't because he was great) was easy to talk to and was very kind the whole 40 minute trip back. On the way back, he was informed that someone accidentally took the tires I needed without checking them off the inventory, so they ended up not having the tires when we got back. The man that drove me told me he was not going to give up on finding the type of tires for my car because he knew I needed to be back early the next day (I had a death in the family) and really needed them changed that night. Finally around 1 AM they found the tires at a Walmart. They drove me to Walmart, got the tires, changed them, and I was back on the road by 2 AM. I was very moved by the empathy the staff had for me and what measures they were willing to take to not only make sure I was safe, but also to do everything in their power to get me back on the road when I wanted to be. Even after all their work, they still even reduced my prices I think because they felt bad how expensive my tow was from having to be towed so far. They should have charged me a late night fee, and also I believe $50 per tire change, but they didn't and just charged me for the tow and the tires themselves. They even said sorry for your loss as I was leaving and I thought that was very personable and thoughtful. I will say though, the shop is also a Greyhound bus station. It was a little scary being a young girl and having people sleeping in the waiting room waiting for their greyhound bus at 1 AM. Also, the place is not very clean, and they have cats roaming around and chewed dog toys on the floor. After I was there for a while, I felt more comfortable and it was fine. But even knowing that, I still 1000% recommend this place to anyone, you won't be disappointed! read more

Had my car towed by this business after an accident. Showed up to gather my belongings before it was towed to the repair shop, and the paperwork on my car was a complete mess. Contact info, plate number, VIN didn't match my car. They then had lost the key to my car, but were able to find it after about ten minutes of searching. Items were taken from my car including a small cup of change and a pair of gloves. Another customer was in the shop with me complaining that they had also misplaced his keys after returning his vehicle. Will never use them again! read more

Passing through with 5th wheel and broke down on a Sunday (Nov 3, 2019. Called AAA. Shane provided 2 trucks to tow, one for the truck and one for the 5th wheel. Shane had us setup the 5th wheel in his parking lot and provided us with electricity. He took our truck to a mechanic that he said would be much cheaper than Ford. The carrier bearing was out and the rear end had to be rebuilt. Pinion was shot. The mechanic ordered parts and had us on the road by Tuesday evening. The mechanic cost about 1/3 of what Ford would have charged. Shane made sure we had anything we needed including transportation to grocery store etc. He made certain that we had electric and propane for so that we could run the furnace. Shane went above and beyond. We received much better service than we could have ever imagined and it saved us the high costs of staying in a campground for those 2 nights and 3 days. Shane worked hard to make sure we were comfortable and to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. We can't say enough kind things about Shane. Thank you! read more

This place is a damn joke and not to just customers. I'll start off with the fact that my boyfriend worked here for 3 weeks before they screwed him over on his pay. They gave him 200$ for working 3 weeks and that was training pay at 50$ a day for 4 days so he only got a 4 day paycheck after working for 3 weeks their reason was that he was supposed to have another worker sign off on all the tows or shop work that he did which would've been ok if someone would've told him this when he started there but no one explained this to him. Also while he was working there he learned some of their tricks a trucker had broke down and called shaners to come out and fix his problem my boyfriend was the one sent out he ordered the part and fixed the truck he then called the guy that was working with him and told him he fixed the truck and the guy asked my boyfriend how much the part was and if he told the driver how much it was. My boyfriend replied with 11$ and no I didn't tell him yet because I didn't know what we were charging total and the guy he was working with replied with good job and tell him the part was 50$ so for an 11$ part the poor truck driver was charged 50$ plus labor his total was over 100 for something that should've cost 50$ at the most but these people are scam artists. Now while my boyfriend was working here my car had broke down in Springfield and his boss told him to go get the car and tow it back to the shop and that it could stay there until we figured out where to take it to get it fixed. Well this was all supposed to be free of charge since he worked for them. While my car was there broke down my boyfriend quit his job because they screwed him on pay and he was extremely mad about it. When I attempted to have my car picked up by a machanic in Springfield they wouldn't release it because they said there was money owed on it so I called shaners and talked to several people finally someone got back to me about a month later after I called everyday and they kept saying they had to talk with Shane (the owner of shaners) the girl said you can have them come get it and we'll release it. I then had tuffy's (the machanic) go to shaners to get it which costs him money to bring a wrecker and shaners wouldn't release it. So I continued calling and no one could tell me anything finally another month later I was told they're holding it because I owe them 50$ for the tow I never asked for so after multiple attempts to talk to Shane I finally said screw it and drove to Springfield from Lincoln (where I live) and I paid the tow fee of 50$ while I was there the worker told me he had talked to Shane and Shane said that he would be extremely offended if I had tuffy's come get it instead of having one of his guys tow it there. I said ok have one of them take it there that's fine and the guy said we'll only charge you 45$ for it. At this point I'm flabbergasted that he would even say that I was not going to pay that but my Grandma was with me and she said it was fine and paid it. They said it would be there Monday morning (we paid on a Sunday night) I called Monday around 3pm and they still hadn't taken it there. I called everyday and the girl would say the same thing we're going to get it there today. A week went by it still wasn't there finally 2 weeks after its been paid I drove to Springfield and went to shaners they then say sorry what happened was it just got over looked and we're loading it up and taking it there now. I said fine I'll wait outside and follow you over it took an hour for them to load it to get it there. For 2 weeks it was paid and with me calling them everyday it still got overlooked. Oh yea when I finally got it to tuffy's after 2 in a half 3 months it had a flat tire and a dead battery and it didn't have those problems when it was taken there but they didn't offer to fix it. I'm not sure if anything else is wrong with it because I'm following the tow truck as I type this. I would never recommend working or doing any business with these people!
