Dommage que tous, sauf le sommelier, aient dû porter un badge. Le canard laqué était excellent. J'ai trouvé la carte des dim sum un peu plus réduite que prévu, mais chaque plat était excellent. J'ai été encore plus surpris lorsque le serveur a placé du sel et du poivre sur la table avant la soupe wonton aux langoustines. Je pense que cela change le style du chef. Mais je devrai y retourner bientôt. / I stopped in for a quick lunch and was seated in one of probably six different dining rooms, all with extensive decor. The servers were quick and efficient. It was unfortunate that all the servers, except the sommelier, were required to wear name tags. The roasted duck was very good. I found the Dim Sum menu was a bit smaller than I was expecting, but each taste was very good. And I was further surprised when the server placed salt and pepper on the table prior to the langoustine wonton soup. I believe that doing so changes the chef's design. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, such a disappointment. Cantonese cuisine isn't my favorite, not even in my top five, but my wife loves it, so I took her here for her birthday. Let's start with the positives. The hotel is stunning and the restaurant is as well. They're also very flexible with reservations, so that cuts down on stress. The best parts of my meal were the complimentary appetizer of fried eggplant and candied walnuts, and the dessert, a sort of pudding made from mango and another fruit I don't recall the name of. Now to the downsides. I got their new fashioned cocktail, the spinach soup, and a tofu dish. The first was fine, if unremarkable, the second was bland, and the third was okay. But it wasn't just the flavor, the portions were also very small. And look, I get it, in any kind of haut dining, one can expect the portions to be small, but at this price? Which leads me to the cost. Through the roof. I believe my cocktail alone was about 20€, and hey, had it been the greatest old-fashioned-like drink I'd ever had, the price may have been warranted, but it wasn't. Everything on the menu is at least as much, but most dishes float around the 50€ area, with some individual dishes reaching nearly 100€. For the flavor and the portions, that's astronomical. But the final straw was the slow service. While getting our free appetizers and ordered ones didn't take that long, to be even asked if we were having dessert took at least ten minutes (I'm being very generous), but to actually be served our dessert once ordered? No less than half an hour. I don't know how long it actually takes to mash up some mango and scoop out some ice cream, but it can't possibly require that much precise skill. We were waiting so long that I was tempted to ask if they'd forgotten we'd ordered. The final insult was, after we'd paid and I'd gotten our coats, while I waited for my wife, the waiter made it very clear to me that he wanted me to leave into the hotel lobby. So let me get this straight. I hand you guys hundreds of euros for a tasteless, microscopic meal and the worst wait times I can remember and I can't wait for my wife inside the restaurant out of everyone's way? If you're a die-hard fan of Cantonese cuisine... go anywhere else. read more

Shang Palace is a Michelin star Chinese restaurant located in the Shangrila Hotel in Paris, France. The restaurant's dining room is elegant, beautiful, with white linen tablecloths, beautiful china, and soft beautiful Chinese music playing in the background. It's an exquisite venue; as you step into the dining room you are transported to another world. It is impossible not to have an amazing, experience. We shared the Chef's tasting menu which was delicious and an excellent way to sample many items on a first visit. On our next visit, we will select entries from the ala carte. The Peking duck looks delicious, although we did not have it on this trip. The only drawback I experienced was the heavy weight of the chopsticks, which were polished with no texture and slid out of your fingers easily which I found difficult to use which interrupted an otherwise wonderful experience. Pricey? Yes. Fantastic? Yes. Less pricey than it seems at times? Yes as the menu doesn't go a great job at saying what comes in sharing-sized portions and what doesn't -- e.g., the 22 Euro wonton soup is surprisingly not a center-table shared bowl, but an individual portion, but the fried rice was easily shareable. We got the 160 Euro Peking duck which was almost too much food for four people we really got the whole duck, served in two courses, the first being the skin/pancake (imho traditional) serving and the second being a huge bowl of what looked like "minced chicken in lettuce cups" which I normally get in California. Finally, on price, things were pretty filling in general -- one lobster dumping was enough, two deep-friend shrimp were enough so expensive, seemingly small poritioned items did the job. Lobster dumpings, amazing. Seafood nems, amazing. Wonton soup, good. Peking duck, very good. Deep-fried shrimp, very good. Green beans, very good. I'd try to ignore the individual and confusing pricing and just bank on 150 to 200 Euros per head with wine and an aperitif. Without wine or apero, we'd have been 120 Euros per head, roughly the price of their tasting menu. I'm sure you can escape for less than that, but you'll need to ask the waiter a lot of questions around ordering, which they were more than happy to answer. read more

Food average what i can get at panda express in America. Who gave this a michelin star? Also are recently at 630pm reservation and all the people on the party who ate the fried rice got severe food poisoning. Thankfully those in our party who did not eat the food were spared. I think they served us fried rice from the day prior since we were the first reservation for the evening. Classic case of bacillus ceres food poisoning. This was outrageous, yes the food was good but they gave us one day old unrefrigerated rice that gave us sever vomiting and diarrhea.Thank God that our four year old didn't eat anything, this place doesn't deserve a Michelin Star, this place completely ruined our trip, don't come here unless you want to pay 400+ euros for food poisoning. read more

We were very excited to have our first Michelin dining experience. The food was great, but not elevated over other Chinese food we have had. We were expecting the service to make up the difference, and we were looking forward to that part of the evening. We were their first table of the evening and the service was great until the other tables came in, and the service dropped off a cliff. I was disappointed, because while we weren't maybe as fancy as a guest of the (gorgeous) hotel, we paid the same as anyone for the food. read more

Went for their degustation lunch at 58 euros per per person. A George opus hotel with a truly beautiful Chinese restaurant. As lovely as any of the best restaurants in China. The first course of dim sum was the most disappointing. Scallop dumpling wAs fishy tasting. Other dumplings were just ok Our next course was deep fried squid which was very tender and in a lovely light batter. Then came barbecue pork with honey and chicken marinated in soy sauce. ( should have done duck instead of chicken). Then came eggplant with diced chicken. Eggplant was beautifully cooked, chicken pieces were all grizzly. Fried rice was nice but a little dry. Along with the Lili at the Peninsula hotel, this is the best Chinese restaurant in Paris in terms of food. However, by global standards, there are plenty of Cantonese eateries which far exceed it, even within the Shangri-La network in Asia! When I heard there was a Michelin starred Chinese restaurant in Paris I had to try it. We arrived early and had a drink at the lobby bar, Le Bar Botaniste. The restaurant has a "hotel meeting room" feeling. Probably because of the lighting. The live music is wonderful. What really stands out is the perfect service. For appetizer I had the crispy pork which was delicious and cut up into small squares. The crispy noodles, chef fried rice, crispy chicken and shrimp with vegetables were all very good.
