Not only were the…read morechicken balls partially raw, but the dough inside touching the chicken was completely uncooked and wet. To add to the poor quality, the shrimp were so saturated in grease they were like sponges; you could squeeze oil out of them, and it soaked through the entire bag. The vegetables while they looked good at first are mushy soggy and over cooked. When I called to report $57 of inedible, unsafe food, I was offered a measly $10 credit. Management clearly doesn't take food safety or customer loyalty seriously. Currently disputing the charge and reporting to SHA. For evidence please look at the attached photos of grease soaked bags, napkins trying to salvage the food, and the puddle in the chicken balls - that isn't moisture, its oil.

The fried rice was lackluster and the Wor Wonton Soup while having a flavorful broth had wontons with zero flavor. The worst dish was the BBQ pork. The pork did have a nice glaze but it was 50% fat. So disappointing. Lastly, adding insult to injury they failed to include the two egg rolls that were ordered. Not a good experience overall.

While driving through Regina on my way to Calgary, I was craving beef chow fun. Figured a place…read morethat bills itself as a dim sum restaurant would be able to make a classic Chinese noodle dish with no problem. Did I ever guess wrong. This dish is traditionally made with rice noodles, with bean sprouts and some onion or scallions as an accompaniment. As my photo will attest, this version was served with sweet peppers, a little onion, and napa cabbage. As I was eating it, I noticed just a few pieces of beef, and very little in the way of noodles. The meal itself was incredibly bland, requiring a huge splash of siracha and soy sauce to give it some flavour. It took me less than 5 minutes to pick through all the meat and noodles, and the dish had to have been over 70% vegetables. Service was extremely lacking. Only two other tables in the restaurant, and a simple dish like this took nearly 20 minutes to come to my table. Wait staff never bothered to come by to ask how the meal was or clear the table, as I just got up and paid for the meal. Cashier didn't respond to my comment that my meal wasn't what I was expecting. Don't recommend this place to anyone and certainly won't be returning.

Although not comparable to the dimsum you can get in larger cities like Toronto / Vancouver, this was a fairly authentic restaurant and I enjoyed the majority of the dishes. Definitely recommend the beef tripe and the fried squid, some of the best I've had! Congee could have used a bit more salt and the turnip cakes were slightly burnt, but overall very tasty. **I want to address the only 1-star review this place has, because POC / Asian restaurants consistently have lower ratings on Yelp and these people are part of the problem. This reviewer clearly ordered a 'spicy' soup, and upon discovering that it was indeed 'spicy,' wanted a replacement. Then she was upset when she was charged for the price of two bowls, although there was nothing wrong with the first one (I would understand if a hair was found etc). Also, when the server brought the soup re-cooked as more mild, the reviewer said it was 'total bull' without even trying it. Lastly, wontons with meat is a perfectly normal description on a Chinese menu - her suggestion that 'maybe it's cat' is frankly quite racist and tone-deaf. I'm disappointed in how the Yelp community treats local Asian restaurants and hope that we can all work towards more unbiased and authentic reviews as a whole. Cheers!

The decor might not be much, but it's my solid go-to for good, home cooked Cantonese food. Just a tip, order from the Chinese menu. What is it you might ask? The menu for Asian people who know what they're ordering. Yes I know it sounds horrible, but they have a standard "Western" menu chock full of "chinese" dishes known in North America. And I say that in air quotes cause most of that stuff were invented here and actually has little to no relation to actual Chinese cuisine. It just makes life easier that way. Ginger beef, sweet and sour pork.. Yeah the good deep fried stuff covered in syrupy alien sauce as we know it. That stuff is also delicious, but if you're trying to save on the calories and eat the good stuff, then you need to order from the Chinese menu. For example, when I make ginger beef at home, it is beef and broccoli with a gingery soy sauce sauteed, not deep fried. Without the disgusting amount of cornstarch and msg in it. So on to the food review. So far I've had the yang chow fried rice, sweet and sour pork, tofu with minced meat hotpot, oyster and onion hotpot, salted fish fried rice and the bbq duck. All fantastic. All reasonably priced for the portions you're getting. You're definitely getting at least 2.5 meals per person for a family of 4. Well in our house, it's more like 1.5 meals for a family of 2, only cause I like it that much and can't stop eating it. This place is comparable to any reputable small eatery in Richmond, Vancouver and I don't give that compliment lightly. If you're not feeling too adventurous, definitely start with the yang chow fried rice. They make it with baby shrimp, scrambled eggs and diced Chinese sausage...the sausage alone is reason to order it. The most important thing is you can taste the "wok hei" in the fried rice. That's the flavour imparted by a searingly hot wok to the rice. If description of this foodie term doesn't mean much to you, then all you need to know is the chef knows his shit and can work that wok. And therefore anything you order from that wok is gonna be goddamn delicious. The other thing of worthy note is the bbq duck. It has the right amount of sauce to fat to meat ratio, it blew my mind. I highly regret getting only the half order but hey, Chinese New Year is fast coming up and I'll be having it again. Note that the hotpot stuff might be a little to foreign to most in Regina, so maybe save that for when you're feeling adventurous. Hotpots can take on a jello-like consistency and look, so it doesn't look that appetizing but when you're in the mood, it can be healthy comfort food. Try it on a takeout night!
