Before I proceed, let me tell you that I will become 46 years old in two months, and my 47 year old husband and I are happy biological parents of 3 months old healthy twins. Before meeting Doctor Chen, my husband and I went through unsuccessful IVF cycles. Insurance/Billing: Though my knee did feel better after treatments, I have to say the billing department or person named Tiffany dealing with insurance was horrible that I would not go here specifically for this. I would recommend you get a receipt for each treatment especially if your a cash patient. I had paid cash and they had said they would call me once they billed my insurance as their billing person (Tiffany was not there). I never received a call until I followed up with the insurance and they said they did in fact pay the office. I really think they thought I would forget or something. I had to call them myself, and only then did they reimburse me and they were being weird about the copay. For this reason alone, I would not recommend her office. I rather just go to someone who can bill right then and there and not go through this hassle. Office/Service: In regards to the service and establishment, I thought it could be a bit more tidy and clean and just more nice in regards to the set up. I felt the beds looked used like they were picked up from a lawn about to be thrown away in a dumpster (I know I'm mean but it's true! (-_-). I also felt each time I went I was rushed. Dr. Chen sees maybe up to 5 or 6 patients at a time and so you just really feel like another number. Parking: This parking lot is located right next to Kennedy High School so it is quite busy, you may get lucky finding a spot but if not you may have to park near Taco Bell and walk down. Lasting thoughts: All in all, I really did find relief with accupuncture with Dr. Chen, but if you don't want the hassle with insurance and such, and you are okay with paying cash, then I guess it is okay. My fiance had sever stomach poison that lasted about 10 days. This came with diaherrea, vomitting, severe anxiety and depression, also confusion. Went to the ER and all they did for him is give him IV, for dehydration. Blood test came in good, hospital said everything looked good but maybe its a virus thats not showing up in the test yet. After a few days of the er my fiance was still really bad. So we looked into acupuncture and herbs and found this place. After the first acupuncture session and a treatment my fiance was feeling better already. But he felt amazing after the second session. My fiance got on a month program, two acupuncture sessions a week for a month and some herbs and he feels better then he felt even before he got this poison. My fiance, brothers and his father side has sever anxiety attack/panic attack problems and this seems to even remove that genetic side of my fiance(atleast for now). Were thankful for her. Dr. Chen is a life changer! Her office is in a little strip mall in Granada Hills. I've lived here for 17 years and have only started to see her for the last 3 years; guess I was judging a book by its cover. I highly recommend Dr. Chen, she is professional and is truly there for the patient. I was working a highly stressful job and had tension in my shoulders and upper back from the stress. Massages seemed to only help for a few days before my shoulders would once again tense up. So I did a little research and found Dr. Chen. She has over 25 years experience in both China and in the U.S., so I thought I would give it a shot. I was a little hesitant because I thought the needles might be a little painful, but you don't even feel them. After about 3-4 weeks of sessions, I started to notice a big difference and knew then I had made the right decision. One visit I had walked in with shorts and Dr. Chen noticed my legs had spots similar to dark freckles. I had told her I went to a dermatologist and I was advised it was Iron deposits from standing and sitting long hours from both of my jobs. The dermatologist said there wasn't much they can do besides give me some cream and hopefully they would go away. Dr. Chen disagreed and said it was from bad circulation. A couple months later the spots are slowly disappearing. Its VERY hard to find a Dr. that listens to their patient's, Dr Chen is truly a blessing to this profession and I always look forward to my visits there. I've been going in for Acupuncture on and off for approximately 35 years and there is a big difference between practitioners. I started going in to see Dr. Shanna Chen 3 years ago and gladly give her an A+ rating. She's very knowledgeable about both Acupuncture and herbs. Additionally, the treatments and herbal pricing are very reasonable. The office has a very comfortable, welcoming atmosphere and her employees have been with her for many years. Most of them are very friendly. I've been treated by her for several things. I had a bad motorcycle accident when I was 22 but was unwilling to have some recommended surgeries and have reoccurring knee, ankle and shoulder problems. An occasional round of treatments keeps this under control. Additionally, I've had psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis for 24 years. It was my first time going to acupuncture so I was a bit nervous. I was already uncomfortable due to the pain having Dx: Bells Palsy a 3 days ago. Shanna Chen was cordial and explained what to expect, her english is a bit hard to understand but she spoke slowly. The treatment lasted apx 20 minutes, the room setting could have been decorated with warm colors, bright lights should have been dimmed, as I laid on the bed, my ailment made me sensitive to light. Perhaps candles or even soft music to get you to relax. Shanna Chen's insertion of the needles was painless except for one that hit a nerve so she pulled it out when I winced & felt throbbing. I gave them 3 stars, her chinese assistant (short hair with glasses) removed the needles which she was a bit aggressive, I think she was in a hurry not even smiling and asked how I was feeling. She pulled a bit hard and I had tiny bleeding on my face and on my hand. Once I was ready to leave, I put on my hat and I poked my finger with a needle, she forgot to take one needle out of my head! ! I got bruised and needle bleeding from my face and hand. I think Shanna Chen was a nice lady but the overall experience I received as a first time patient in her office was far short of what the other reviews I read.
