In Northridge, part of SFV in Southern CA sits the REBOOT ACUPUNCTURE AND WELLNESS CENTER on the 3rd floor of a medical building. Easy to get to and free parking. Walked into the CENTER and was greeted with a smile. I was a few minutes early and sat down in the empty lobby. The reason for an empty lobby is that rooms are prepared before a patient shows up so as not to be left waiting in the lobby for more than a couple of minutes, if at all. I am a Male, 74 years old: for months I had constant sciatica with pain across my glutes and popping up and down different places on my right leg, If I drove more than 15 minutes straight my right leg would begin to cramp/pain in places. Still active I work 2 days a week, do calisthenics daily, and walk 20+ miles every week. Not a couch potato. Dr. Jennifer gave me a full assessment including watching me walk, squat, balance, flexibility, etc. A treatment program was drawn up with options we discussed and started. Huge surprise: the needles did not hurt when inserted. Also, when they were removed after the treatment they were disposed of. Each treatment room is private with soft music and a couple of times I almost fell asleep. I no longer have the sciatica pain and drove 55 minutes the other day without my right leg cramping, and without pain running up and down the leg. Also, following the Dr.s' recommendation I have improved my posture when walking. Without a doubt this has been a physical and mental uplifting experience. I first met Dr Jennifer Liptawat in October of 2023 at the annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair. She had a booth setup promoting Reboot Accupuncture and I stopped by to learn more about her and services she had to offer. I was new to Accupuncture and TCM. I've had the opportunity to try acupuncture twice but for short and very specific reasons to see if would help with back pain and anxiety. I had a positive experience so I wanted to get more serious about Eastern Medicine and to expand my understanding on how it can help me from a Holistic perspective. Jennifer was very kind in taking the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I was impressed by her professionalism and knowledge that I asked to have a formal consultation back at her office which I did a week later. During our consult, the observations she performed made a discovery which she thought was urgent enough for me to see a medical Dr immediately. She informed me that she saw signs that I had a severe bacterial infection. Since this was our first meeting and I had not given her any current blood work tests, I was a little skeptical. She showed a truly genuine concern about my situation and for me to get it checked as soon as possible. She made sure I took this seriously and as a priority over any of the services she offered. After finishing the consultation, I felt quite empowered with all of the information she had shared about my body that seemed to get to the root issues and not just treating the symptoms. Unfortunately, I can be quite stubborn when it comes to seeing Dr's which translates to my fear of going to see them and finding out something I don't want to hear. Fast forward 3 weeks later, I rushed to the ER with extreme abdominal pains which felt like a 10/10. They did blood work and a CT Scan and found out I had acute Appendicitis and localized Peritonitis and that my Appendix could burst at any moment. They rushed me immediately upstairs to the OR and I went through an emergency Laparoscopic Appendectomy. Luckily the surgery went well without any complications and they were able to resolve the issue before it became life threatening. Even through all of what I went through the last 8 weeks, I truly find comfort in knowing Dr Liptawat had diagnosed me 3 weeks prior and that she wasn't trying to scare me into using any of her services. My husband went to Dr. Reboot (our nickname for her) for pain, inability to walk, spinal disk bulging help. Can I start with an OMG - RESULTS?! My hubby was a mess! There was an immediate relief from session one. I could kiss her. No really. She advised of a 10 treatment plan. I know that sounds like a lot of money and it was kinda for our household budget reasons. But, we're talking your health! She came highly recommended by a friend who happened to have a similar issue. Could not walk, move, use restroom. He was up and running in days after 1 treatment and he did, I believe about 4. And we had to make due for this as it was an emergency and Kaiser shame shame, couldn't see us until 3 weeks later. How is socialized medicine so darn jacked up?! That process is unacceptable and natural healing and medicine should be an added equivalent to self care as much as regular medicine is. He came back home with him being able to walk better after one treatment! One! So he went again and better than the first one. After the 10th treatment, he went for an MRI. Dr. Lipowat, may be decent in healing physical pain, but she wants to promote herself as a doctor who can heal you from within... and charges prices that even those in Beverly Hills and encino don't charge. She gives you no hope only fear in order to have one embrace her BS about what she is selling. She knows NOTHING about constitutional health, which is what TCM( traditional Chinese medicine) is about. She is novice who doesn't have much professional experience only intern hours, and while she might have studied for several years, the only thing she is good at is pretending to care only to get you to buy Into her ''healing package''. I can most highly recommend Reboot Acupuncture. I've been a client for a fair amount of time now, and Dr Jennifer is excellent at her craft. Naturally, I was more than a bit trepidatious in trying acupuncture for the first time. (what?! Turn myself into a pin cushion?!?!) However, having not had complete luck with some of my issues, I decided, well, why not give it a try? It hasn't been around for centuries (millennia?) for nothing! On my initial visit Dr Jennifer's calm, friendly and pleasant personality put me at ease. I was still nervous, but a lot less so! She takes time with you as a patient and never seems rushed to move on to the next person in line, so to speak. Additionally, she has a remarkable tolerance for my many clueless questions! I have been to many acupuncturists over the years and have never had the great results I have had here. Whatever problem is bothering me that day, I get off the table and it's much better. Muscle problems, digestive, headaches, her treatments are so effective. She also understands how to use all the tools of Chinese medicine. I know because I almost went to acupuncture school and understand the principles. Chinese medicine is a system, not just acupuncture but herbs and other therapies. She takes the time to explain what is going on inside your body, what you can expect from treatment and and what treatment modalities she will be using. Most places you tell them what you problem is and they just lay you down on the table and do a treatment. No plan, no reading your pulse or tongue like you are supposed to. I have been going there for several months now and am very pleased. Most importantly my health problems are much improved. I have been getting acupuncture treatments for over 20 years. Finding Jennifer was a blessing, a technique that she uses was attempting on me years ago and made me feel anxious. If you want to get actual, honest to goodness acupuncture treatment, this is your spot. There are so many acupuncturist where you can get a one off treatment, but the pain and symptoms remain. Jennifer, on the other hand, works on a long term treatment plan that adjusts to your healing progress. She has various forms of acupuncture treatment including cupping and her famous "waterfall" (if you have back pain, this is a must and is something I genuinely look forward to). As someone who practices BJJ, what really helps Jennifer stand apart from other acupuncturists is her genuine desire to see you heal - if she needs more time during a session to work on a specific problem area, she will take the time. If there is a chinese herb or green supplement or cbd salve or massage gun, she will bring out all her tools without hesitation. And she is honest about what she can and cannot fix without you making your own life adjustments.
