I have searched for years to find somewhere to get my eyebrows done where I can rely on the quality of service each time I come in. Sophie, the owner, is amazing and I can always count on her to shape and tint my brows perfectly. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The receptionist was very unwelcoming and unfriendly. She didn't even acknowledge me when I told her I had an appointment. The lady who did my wax was the one to greet me and take me in about a minute later. She was much more friendly. The Brazilian wax service performed on me was done very poorly. It was not done thoroughly or carefully as there are still hairs down there and the skin is raw and stings. read more

A month or so ago I got my eyebrows threaded at another place and they completely ruined the shape and thickness of my eyebrows. When I came in I told Sophie what happened and she was so nice and reassured me that she would be able to fix them. I got them threaded & had an eyebrow tinting, and can positively say I will be coming back here again and again. They are very welcoming and kind, take there time to make sure everything is how you want it to be and on top of that the prices are much better then some of the other shops in downtown. Both my sister and I (male) decided to try out Shapes for a $20 eyebrow threading and unfortunately we were not impressed. Took 15-20 minutes each which should signal patience and attention to detail, but BOTH of us left with crooked, unsymmetrical pair of eyebrows (sister's noticeably thinner than the other, and mine inconsistent height). Additionally, my sister specifically warned to avoid going too thin as in the past her eyebrows have been threaded too thin, and the person evidently ignored her request. Amazing eyebrow threading experience with Sophie, highly recommend! She was very attentive when I described the shape I wanted, and after outlining my brows with a white pencil, she made sure I was happy before proceeding to thread. The application of aloe gel, followed by a head massage was a real treat, and she even offered to fill in my brows with makeup before I left! There are some finishing touches to come, but knowing how sincere Sophie is about her clients' happiness & comfort, I'm sure they will turn great into fantastic! I have fairly sensitive (and fairly old) skin, so the combination of skill and the quality products Sophie uses for waxing, tinting, and aftercare (waxes, dyes, oils, gels & lotions) are greatly appreciated; no rashes, no whiteheads, no itching, no burn = smooth & shapely & relieved! Sophie is wonderful! I discovered her when I bought a Groupon for 3 brazilians about a year ago. Although they are now finished and I have to travel all the way from Surrey to Kitsilano, I don't mind since shes so great. I have a friend who pays less for brazilians than I do but I feel comfortable with Sophie and can thus justify the slight increase in cost of services. She tries to make small talk with you so you don't focus on the pain and is super professional at the same time. She is SO moody and snubby, no smile or anything, and a complete attitude from the first step i took inside to every phone call after. I had eyebrow shape(threading) and henna done by Sophie. First expressions were great, she was really friendly and seemed very professional and confident. Usually I get a result of really think brows which do not really fit my face so I told her I do not want a very thick or super thin look just normal middle ground. She did not show me the shape before threading and the final result came out way too thin for me. Also, my eyebrows look completely different. My left eyebrow is straight and right one round. I told her I didn't like the rounder shape and like the left one more, after what she started to change the left eyebrow to look like the right one even though I told her that I like the left and not the right. Now I'm left with two very different, thin and very wonky eyebrows. Absolutely the worst experience that I have had. Left too think you can fix, but too thin, there is not much to fix afterwards. Will not be going back! considering to start doing my eyebrows myself as it seems to be very hard to find the right person for it. read more

I bought a groupon for this and booked an appointment online. It was confirmed via email and when I went to the store, they said I should have booked my appointment over the phone. They denied me of the service even though the slot was already booked. They were asking me to pay full price for the service!! The technician was already available and there weren't any other customers to take!! The person I spoke with was rude and raised her voice a bit. It's their way to get more money to ask you to pay full price. They treat Groupon guests very poorly. I think the technician just didn't want to work, there weren't any customers in line. So I don't understand why they would turn customers down. My suggestion, don't put your services up on Groupon if you have such stupid rules about how the services are booked. Would you have provided me with a person with less experience if you knew I had a Groupon?? Looks like it. I was at work and I couldn't make a call. What messed up customer service. Unfortunately I did not have the great experience the others had. I didn't feel that I was welcomed when I went in, perhaps she was having a bad day? I was instructed to go into the room to get ready and she pointed to some towels that I can use if I want to cover myself. If you are going to open the door that lead to the street, yes I will need to cover myself... My waxing experience with the others is that they will tell me what they'll do while doing it. My experience here was different that the towel on my was taken away without any word since she came into the room. I felt weird and awkward the whole time. But this is not the worst part. This was more painful the my other experiences. However, a week went by and I found that many of the hair were not pulled out but just ripped. So now I have lots hair coming out that looks like I shaved, although I went through the pain for waxing. I definitely won't be able to recommend this place to anyone nor will I go back for any reason. read more
