However, his front office (billing assistance) truly lacks in follow-up and initiative and just a level of pleasant demeanor. I got the sense that the front office just doesn't want to do much, or call to get "pre-authorization" or breakdown of costs prior to committing to more invasive dental work. I requested this and it took them over 4 weeks, when I finally called the office to verify whether they received anything - the front office assistant claimed that they (the ins. company) probably didn't handle it or the physical paperwork got lost in the mail. When I called my dental insurance company to inquire whether any request for this paperwork was placed on my behalf, they told me they never received a call/request from Dr. Stern's office. Unprofessional, unreliable and no customer service if you ask me. For any medical/dental practice, your front office, receptionist and/or billing staff is so important. I called to follow-up and every time I was met with a "don't bother me attitude"...I cancelled all appointments and found myself another dentist.

I had previously confirmed my appointment but then due to the poor weather conditions I called them that morning and canceled. I did not expect to get an earful of INSULTS from my dental office about canceling an appointment for a cleaning. YES INSULTS! I said to myself this supervisor won't last long with her attitude she'll be fired in the next couple of months! I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to attend this office with how they have treated myself and my husband. To my surprise TERRIBLE TARA was still a figure in the office and this what started out as a call from a receptionist Venessa to let me know my insurance rejected my last visit for cleaning I told her I would call back once I spoke to my health insurance she called me back in less than an hour asking me that I called them yet I explained to her that I'm home dealing with twins in fifth grade doing distance-learning during COVID 19 and she still seem to be very pushy on the phone with me. I told her to at least give me 24 hours she actually HUNG UP on me after I told her how rude she was being so I called back and asked to speak to a manager and it was Tara. She as experience once before I started to get into a back-and-forth with me the customer I even let her know that I have never witnessed an office actually arguing back-and-forth with a customer that she is on the clock and should be way more professional than she is presenting herself to be. She actually even started to say that my family has been a burden on "them". I don't care if we have been the worst customers in America which we were not in the least bit way every time I come to this office my hygienist and I laugh joke and talk about our family. She has witnessed me get married. I have witnessed her have children! It's such a shame, painful and sorrowful that now I am going to need to look for a new dental office after five years but it just seems as though when this new supervisor came about that everything changed. I know she's going to try to combat this review with some thing that I hope I don't have to sue them for because HIPPA is real!!!! Furthermore if I was a white woman and my husband was a white male we would not have been treated like this in the least bit. Racism is also real and I don't know what else can explain the way that this office has treated me and my husband two paying consistent patients of over five years.

This time around I was looking for a place with professionalism, cleanliness and most importantly, a classy, educated receptionist. I swear that receptionist at Kent's office was a pure nightmare and I'm glad I never have to deal with her ever again! I am so happy to have entrusted my dental care with doctor Rafailov now. He not only gets the job done, he takes the time to explain the procedure to the patient; takes his time with each procedure to make sure each patient is happy and at the end, performs an awesome job. He's been doing this for so many years I honestly felt no fear when he was taking out my wisdom teeth. I had three different procedures done on my teeth at his office: 1) cleaning 2) filling 3) wisdom teeth extraction. The cleaning and extraction were done by doctor Rafailov but the filling was done by another dentist that they had just hired name Rachel (I think, I might have forgotten her name). After my filling appointment with her, I literally couldn't chew on my left side where I had the filling because it would hurt like hell. I thought it was just some residual pain but weeks went by and I could still not chew! So during my next appointment, doctor Rafailov took a look and said that it was "not even" and that one side was higher than the other and that was causing me the pain. The important thing is that he fixed it right away and after that I did not have any pain chewing food anymore. When I scheduled my appointment for the extraction, the receptionist scheduled me on the Sunday before labor day because I had requested a weekend date. Mind you, this appointment was made weeks before the actual date. Then the Friday before Labor Day, she called and said that she "forgot" that they were closed and that I had to rescheduled...I was really really annoyed because I had cancelled all my plans and switched around my work schedule to get these teeth taken out, and she just ruined everything in one phone call. I wouldn't have mind if they had called sooner, but cancelling on someone with such short notice was just not acceptable. I was pissed but what can I do? Once I finally got the appointment, I was lucky enough to have doctor Rafailov do my extractions, all 4 wisdom teeth. We took 2 out first then waited 2 weeks later to take out the last two. I honestly thought the procedure was going to take forever but it was faster than I though. I wasn't prescribed anything afterwards because it was a simple extractions since my teeth were growing straight and were not impacted. I just rinsed my mouth with salt water and took some Advil for pain, totally was not bad at all. I'm honestly thankful for him for doing such a great job!!

He never pushed procedures that he didn't think were absolutely needed. In fact, he would suggest to not do quick fix procedures/immediate work which I appreciate. She referred me to a specialist to check whether or not I needed a root canal. She took the time to find a local in network specialist. After it was determined that I did not need a root canal, I returned and saw Dr Boris. He gave me 2 crowns over a course of 3 months. They fit well. And they've held up. When my temporary crown fell out, they saw me the next morning to adjust it. I have a lot of anxiety with dentists and Dr Boris is gentle, will answer questions and gives me a moment to compose myself during the procedures. He does not make you feel rushed and acknowledges the discomfort and will try to help. The hygienist Betsy is excellent. She is thorough and gentle. She loves her work and her hands make me feel at ease.
