This is a worthy review. I've been coming to this SOS center - Share Ourselves for two decades. Firstly, they are Excellent for emergency needs. If you can't get in for an appointment, I believe they have 8 AM emergency medical and dental appointments, walk in apts. (please call to confirm) Dr. Vu Has worked on my teeth for over 25 years! And by the way, I've all my teeth still - Probably because he's a wonderful dentist, who's giving me many second opinions, in regard to how to keep my teeth healthy. Additionally, There's a pharmacy right in the building as well. They take all major insurances. I believe the value for the dentistry is above the norm affordable as well. read more

The wait times for appointments are absurd (2.5 months), I've been waiting 6 months for them to properly fill out prior authorizations so I can get my medication, calling and leaving a message never gets a response or results, just an irritated office worker telling you it will be 7-10 days for them to deal with your request at all, and worst of all, they don't care about you. I needed a firm signed verifying that I was disabled to qualify for emergency housing and they told me to go elsewhere (they are my PCP). They knew that I risked being homeless if the form wasn't completed yet denied me anyway. My welfare wasn't something they felt bothered by and yours won't be either. read more

Disgusted in the lack of services here. The lack of customer service! They could care less about there jobs or what they are doing here! One small sack lunch a week. Was told someone would be in touch to assist with past due bill and never heard from no one. After a week of honoring the process I called in to be COMPLETELY DISMISSED and told it's a long slow process and they won't even help with half the 173$! While she was eating her food! I would NEVER recommend donating money here as it does not go to the people truly in need! Came here to say, that the two female receptionist, did not give an ounce of care. Can't say what there names were since there was no name tags. It was around 11 AM 12/12. Came in here two days after my father came in for molar work, I just needed them to call the cardiologist back to let them know there was no infection. They brushed me off saying that I needed to go to my PCP even though he was here two days before and I had the paper work with me. Cardiologist kept calling and they never answered, keep in mind this is for a heart valve surgery. So my frustration kept increasing, didn't help that one of them just kept going back on there phone, this is a serious issue. Guess her phone was more important than patients. read more

This review is mostly about the asian male dentist (have no clue what his name is) He was extremelyyyy unprofessional and rude for NO REASON the entire time. Would make rude side comments and would sigh and give nasty attitude when I asked him one follow up question. He's very clearly a bitter person and doesn't want to be there so he should just maybe NOT be a dentist if he's so inconvenienced by answering his patients questions. Wildly unprofessional. He's obviously a miserable person but there's no need to take it out on his patients this community deserves waaaaay better dentists than this guy. The assistants were no better, not gentle or careful at all. Got a free face wash from essentially being hosed down with the water tool and got off the chair with red marks of the whitening paste on my cheeks. Ridiculous and incompetent people!!!! Terrible communication. You stay on hold until you are next in the queue then get routed to a voicemail which they don't answer for several days. When I complained about this, they directed me to their online portal; however, they don't respond at all to that. I broke my thumb, had an x-ray at an urgent care and needed to make an appointment to see SOS to get a referral to see an orthopedist (per urgent care's direction). I called SOS about this and didn't hear back for three days. When they finally called me back they said they were all full and they would need to have a nurse call me back to squeeze me in. At this point, I had had enough so I changed my primary provider, got an appointment to see my new PCP, got a referral to an orthopedist, saw the orthopedist, and had my thumb treated all a week before SOS ever called me back to schedule the appointment for the referral. read more

Just had my first visit at share our selves and I was very impressed. I was seen by PA Benjamin Kaska. For the first time in years I felt listened to and that I was given a thorough exam. They have lots of additional resources such as psychiatric, dental etc. and provided informational handouts to take home. We were able to cover several different concerns which was amazing since getting to the doc regularly can be tough. Thank you SOS. read more

My name is Irena Duringer and I went here the other day and they were so helpful. I had gotten a sprained ankle and the doctor looked at it he was fast and he ordered xrays and he gave me instructions and told me that the sprain didn't look bad. The X-ray results should come back soon and my ankle is feeling better so I don't think that I'll need anything. And they also let me know that I am overweight which is good to know cause now I can focus on trying to lose weight. I didn't know I was overweight. I am definitely planning on coming here again probably next week for some other medical things. I walked in and they got me right in to see the doctor the wait wasn't long at all. read more

One came in the exam room and told me I'm pregnant, I was shocked, so he went back to check the blood work... he was mistaken..... the doctors don't listen, the staff Dont Listen, one ear out the other. I can't really say much about the non-profit's services as I only came here for the annual SOS Wild and Crazy Taco Night. What I can talk about is how great of a venue it was to hold this event. With hundreds of people at the event, I was worried that I'd be claustrophobic; however, the booths were all spread out around the perimeters with plenty space and tables set up to walk, talk, and more importantly eat the tacos for hours long. The music was great, vibes were even better, with the people making this event an awesome experience. And when I mean people, I don't just mean the attendees (though they were energized and very cheery), I mean the volunteers who put together this event. From the first one I met to the last, they all looked very happy to be there and were super helpful as well! So a HUGE thank you to them for making this such a fun event! read more

I am a patient with share ourselves and I have been trying to get a refill for my inhaler during the covid 19 epidemic. The drs have ignored all my requests. I've called over and over. This is beyond upsetting. I am headed to the er. I have polyps on my lungs and the last place I want to be is a er when this could have been fixed with my inhaler....this is a on going issue with prescriptions at this office. I really don't know why anyone would call this place a dump or complain about the parking lot. Granted it's not huge but it's not awful. The place is ALWAYS clean and the people are helpful. We've mainly used their dentistry and have been more than satisfied with their excellent staff and treatment! BEST dentist I've ever been treated by and my family all agree. My first impression (and current impression) is that SOS is a dump. The parking lot is awful. It almost impossible to find a parking spot. And if you have an appointment and need to park you will find yourself driving out of the lot going down the street and parking perhaps several blocks down the road into a shopping center or on the street then walking all the way to "Share Our Selves." Next you go inside this building (That looks like it is part of a dump), get in line sign in, sit down (Seats are in several rows. Nothing like a regular medical facility). I do NOT recommend SOS to anybody. One good thing to say about it is that the doctors are good and also the nurses. If you don't have the money to go to a regular medical facility or doctor's office then this dump is for you. I've got to admit that it saved me thousands of dollars. read more

This review is for the eligibility worker, Steven Calderon, at Share Our Selves. Not for the clinic itself. Each year you have to prove you're eligible for services. Usually I'm just in and out with proof of income, etc. This year my eligibility appointment coincided with a current medical situation I'm experiencing. Possibly facing a major medical situation and have been referred to a specialist. When it comes to anything to do with the medical/ insurance field, I am clueless. I'm terrified of medical procedures and doctors, and tend to be complacent when it comes to participating in my healthcare choices offered to me. Now I have to pay attention and I'm asking questions before I get dropped into it. I had some questions about my health plan, referrals, hospitals I'm assigned to, and thought I'd hit Steven up for information. He was able to better inform me about my plan, how to request changes, and even made a phone call for me to speak with a contact he knows (probably saving me from listening to many recorded messages and frustration). Most likely, the Eligibility Specialist's current position isn't their first rodeo. They've gained knowledge from other positions they have held and are willing to point you in the right direction (if not place a phone call for you) &/or explain your options available to you. The purpose of this review is don't be afraid to ask! I usually don't ask questions of these people believing they only deal with financial matters (being the scary bad guy/gal trying to disqualify you), so not true! I've dealt with other eligibility workers here who were also very nice and probably just as helpful but I never availed myself to their wealth of knowledge. Additionally, unrelated to the above but another example: I have a friend going through the process of becoming a US citizen and recently became ill. Not having insurance and a new patient intake costing up to $350. cash with a new doctor is more than intimidating. I asked Steven if she was eligible to be seen at SOS. Depending on her eligibility screening and her being uninsured, he was able to show me ballpark fees she could expect. Breathable fees, where we won't have to send her back to NZ due to a short term minor illness and some meds. **I'm pretty sure SOS is no longer a free clinic. You either have insurance (whether private or through Medi Cal/MediCare), pay cash on a sliding fee scale, or are signed up for MSI (not sure on that). read more
