Shark Diver is the best! These are wonderful people who operate a better than top-rate tour to the most pristine place in the World to see Great White sharks. I cannot offer enough thanks for the literally surreal experiences I was given by Martin, Cindy, everyone at Shark Diver, and, of course, our toothy Guadalupe friends! I have gone on this wonderful Guadalupe tour with Shark Diver twice. Imagine sharing an eye-to-eye moment with a MASSIVE Great White, in his domain, where it's incredibly intense but remarkably calm at the same time; you're both completely safe. Immense power - majestic beauty! White Sharks have so much personality! Martin and the crew deliver the perfect balance of safety and fun. On tour one, I made 17 one-hour dives and saw MASSIVE Great Whites, often within inches, on 16 of them. On tour two, I made 14 one-hour dives and saw them absolutely every dive, most often non-stop. Between the two tours, I have personally seen 29 of the just over 150 Great Whites in the recorded database, including three from the largest recorded! How close? Well, having spent 31 hours actually in the water at Guadalupe, I can honestly say that it would be immensely foolish to be out of the cages there (and also unacceptably dangerous for the sharks; nobody should ever tempt that). That's where Shark Diver is awesome because I think you actually end up closer in the cages: no worries about pulling back or stressing about what you don't see behind you. I mean, many times, I had my head, inches away, looking straight down the jaws of massive great white, or looking him in the eye while his body was against the same bars I was holding (three times actually against my hand on those bars...), but it was SAFE!!! They don't attack the cages, but they get curious, and sometimes they investigate by brushing the bars. No way could you stay that close without a cage! The crew - awesome, caring people!!! The food - equal to the best restaurant I've ever eaten in (all day long!). Guadalupe Island - beyond description beautiful! Relax, eat great, experience great whites the whole time at Guadalupe - Wonderful! No disrespect to any of the completion, but, for my opinion, if I ever go back, why would I book anywhere else? I've been with a number of dive groups over the years and have seen everything from DIY to exceptional. Before booking our group with Shark Diver I researched and spoke with a number of companies/locations around the world which landed me back at Guadalupe and Shark Diver. I confidently can say this was one of the best, for several reasons... The Good: 1) Team, their team worked very well together and everything hinges on that fact. They were great people to get to know and easy to talk with about anything. 2) Location, the viz is exceptional! We had (at least) 4 whites circling us at any given point. 3) Care for the us and the animals... utmost care was taken by the crew for our safety but also to ensure they didn't put the whites in situations that could harm them from collisions. 4) Communication, they were always easy to get ahold of as well as keeping us informed. 5) Food, I did not expect the food to be much, it was fantastic with great variety throughout the week. 6) Photos, they helped to make sure everyone was leaving with great shots. Helped me with my own set up as well as professional ones and a video to share. 7) They leave out of the US which is incredibly convenient. The Bad: 1) It's a nice boat with good accommodations not a luxury yacht... that'd cost a lot more. 2) The trip will never be long enough. 3) You're at the whim of nature since it's not a zoo. Their guarantee was nice to have. 4) The ocean is full of waves... come with a variety drugs even if you don't think you'll be sick. 5) If you're not in a sleeping cabin and put in the bunks you might not like it at first. It was by far the best place to sleep beings it's centered in the boat for a better ride and much quieter because you don't hear the waves as much. 6) You will not be nervous about the sharks but more likely nervous about the waves if you don't have experience with them. Simple question is this... would I use them again? Definitely! If you don't go through them at least go, it's an amazing experience!!! read more

Just got back. This trip is stunning. Obviously, the sharks are amazing. We spent more than 10 hours in the water over the course of 3 days, saw lots of sharks, took great pictures. Furthermore, there were porpoises, turtles, fur seals, and a whale. But that is just part of it. The crew is fantastic -- great guys and a blast. The care they take of the passengers is far more than I expected -- they are so attentive, making sure everyone is well, safe, and happy. The food is great -- Mark, the chef, does incredible work. Dinners included steak, game hen, beautiful fresh yellow tail (he grilled some, served some as sashimi, which was about the best thing I've ever eaten). The lead up is easy, and the office is great about getting you ready to go. And Martin, the divemaster, the head honcho, is so into the sharks and excited about your experience with them -- he's a great guy. At night, with the outside lights off, people relaxed, talked, drank beers, looked at stars, listened to bellowing fur seals on shore and generally had a great time. The only things to bear in mind are a) there was definitely some seasickness on the way down (the Pacific is not always that passive); and b) the quarters are small but not uncomfortable. This is not a cruise ship, but it is homey for a few days. If you can handle those things (or endure the former -- I was sick, but it didn't interfere with my time), then you will love this. read more

I can tick this bucket list item off my list thanks to Shark Diver. While cage diving with Great Whites is a patience game so there were a couple of busted dives, but the Captain and crew went above and beyond to ensure everyone's satisfaction and there were numerous sightings. All equipment for this trip was provided, including cameras in waterproof housings so I have lots of video and lots of photos of a number of great whites like Amira and Screaming Mimi (yes, all those that are known are named). The crew were extremely gracious and helpful and I felt the food was fantastic with Mark and Shea in the galley doing a superlative job in that respect. Sailing out of San Diego gives a greater sense of security rather than busing to Ensenada to board. The only downside is the size of the accommodations, which are tight but this isn't unusual for a sea expedition and I feel I definitely got my money's worth out of this trip, not to mention meeting a number of new friends. If I get the chance, I'll be doing this again and with the same charters. read more

I went to Isla Guadalupe with Shark Diver to see Great White Sharks August 19-24, 2015. Everything about the trip was above and beyond any expectations I had. The Horizon is a comfortable and well-equipped vessel, the captain and crew were amazing! Booking was simple and Cindy answered every question I had - many through informational emails before I asked. Martin (and local researcher Mauricio Hoyos) were a wealth of information about the sharks and the island. The food - fantastic (they took great care of the vegetarian), the people - amazing and friends for life, the scenery - gorgeous, the water - clear, and the sharks were all around. I would recommend this trip to anyone interested in seeing these magnificent fishes. Sure, it is pricey but you will not regret it one bit. I have already booked my next trip with Shark Diver - Tigers in the Bahamas in 2016!! read more

What a wonderful time I had!! The crews of Horizon and Shark Diver were exceptional, the food was great, the boat was so "lady friendly", and the sharks, well the sharks were the mind blowing!!! I have waited years to see what I did (I've been cage diving in SF for over 10 years now) and I can't wait to experience Guadalupe again! This by far was the best trip I have ever taken in my life. I can't say enough good things about this trip and can not think of one bad thing (outside of my sea sickness which I will gladly endure again). You really have a first class operation! Never at any point did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable, which really does matter when you're 200 miles out at sea. We went out on the Nautilus Under the Sea vessel. It was amazing! The boat is comfortable and each room has it's own toilet/sink/shower. The crew, Rodolfo/Tony/Osa/Felipe/Vicente/Julio/Fernando, were very nice and were able to accommodate a gluten sensitivity. Cindy made scheduling the trip, buying insurance, and answering general questions easy...she was incredibly responsive! Martin, the owner, and Nicole, the MCSI marine biologist, helped us identify the sharks we saw, dispelled myths, and provided the real insight into these magnificent sharks. Safety was always the top concern, even when we had some rough weather, but the crew made it fun as well. I can't recommend Shark Diver enough! We loved it so much, we are planning to go on another trip in the future. read more
