I called them on Sunday afternoon, expecting their voicemail as it was on the weekend, but I wanted to be on their first call-back list for Monday AM. I left my information, expecting to hear something the next day. Nope... so I call again around Noon & speak to someone live. I give him the overview, he wasn't very knowledgable & a bit 'snide' on the phone, didn't like that. In addition to explaining my needs on the phone, I send him a follow-up email with all the specifics, thinking it may speed up the process. He says he'll get back to me later in the day with a quote. No return email for 24 hours so I email back to follow-up, stressing my timing (just recently I started working from a home office - currently via the couch or kitchen - I finally buy a desk, but can't use it until I get this glass piece). He emails me back and says they are working on a quote and his colleague will be in touch, not him (no, he doesn't introduce nor Cc the colleague so I can correspond directly). Still no return e-mail by Wed night ...so I decided I'd contact Sassman, a competitor here in Des Moines first thing Thursday AM. I left Sassman a VM around 8am Thurs, heard back around 9am Thurs, scheduled a site visit for the next day, they came out today (Fri), measured everything & provided me a quote on the spot. I am scheduled to recieve my piece early next week. Now that's the way I like to work. It's now 3pm on Friday... wondering if I ever heard back from Forman??? Take a wild guess... Go with Sassman for your custom glass needs - & ask for Ross, he's a nice guy.

Our experience with Army Post Accounting was worse than I thought possible. Interacting with Tim…read morewas bizarre -- when he actually decided to respond to emails/calls, he was often unprofessional and highly lacking in communication skills. He frequently refused to answer our tax questions, or if he answered, gave a cryptic, ambiguous response. Their office then lost our tax returns for a period of time. Once recovered, we decided we wouldn't be back next year. A while later, we discovered Tim made a costly error on our return that induced hundreds of dollars in interest. Despite our polite approach to resolving the matter, Tim (and Chris, since Tim was ignoring our communications) refuse to take responsibility for this error and have stonewalled us entirely. They also failed to provide copies of forms we've tried requesting for months, in violation of their required standards of conduct. Needless to say, this is an incompetent establishment incapable of handling even the most basic taxes nor conflicts with any level of professionalism or ethical standards of service. Tim and Chris's behavior is unscrupulous and neglectful.

My CPA retired so 2024 was my first experience with Army Post Accounting…read more PROS: - The lady at the front desk was super nice - Close parking to the door - Cost was similar to other tax prep - At long last my taxes were filled CONS: -It's an old building that stinks -Tax Preparer (Chris) poor communication (in person and electronically) a) no eye contact when I was across the desk, with incomplete responses or grunts vs sentences. He ignored direct questions as if I wasn't there. Would ask a question then would not wait for the answer. b) Did not review my prior year data I brought c) seemed intent on filling in the blanks as quickly as possible, regardless of if they are right or wrong. I requested several corrections and repeatedly asked him to slow down so I could give him the right numbers. d) waiting days for a response or no response at all to email e) they use a secure document sharing site, good in itself. However, he created multiple new links for correspondence. It made it hard to keep track of which session to use . It would have been better if he kept the initial link throughout the process. f) Refusal to let me review the completed tax forms before filing it, even when asked. The appointment was rushed and disorganized. Most disturbing, I didn't know what information he was reporting on my forms which left me stressed. Issues: After filing, the IRS and State of Iowa sent letters that 1. For overpayment of Fed taxes (a refund was issued directly for Fed) - This really upset me because I shared a concern I thought he was reporting my tax payments wrong. I was right and the IRS caught it. 2. My daughter's taxes (EZ for first job, her one and only W2 was incorrectly reported.) I had to submit the form directly to the state. Maybe it was a one-off but I cannot recommend them. May anyone who goes there have a better experience.

I even referred my husband (then boyfriend) to their services even though he has been doing his own for years. He was pleased with the first year they did his taxes so we decided to use them again this year. This experience was less than acceptable. When we went to pick up our taxes the amount that was estimated for our return had changed drastically from what we were previously told. We emailed Kathy promptly regarding this concern to which she replied that there must have been something that had fallen off during importing them. We then emailed her 3 times following up for the correction to which she NEVER replied. My husband then called the office after having waited over a week for a reply from Kathy. Kathy wouldn't even speak to my husband on the phone and instead talked through the receptionist. Kathy claimed to not know of the issue he was referring to. This was impossible as she had already replied to one of his emails that had outlined very specifically our concerns. If you want someone who stands by their work and acts ethically, think twice before using the services provided by The Bookkeepers. We will NOT be going back and will be sure to tell our story to others in the area so they don't make the same mistake we did. Lesson learned. Professional companies are NOT always the way to go! If I could give them less than a 1 star rating I would because truthfully, that is what they deserve.
