I was "nudged" into applying for inadequate health insurance plans through Medi-Cal. Currently, trying to utilize Molina Healthcare. BUT, everywhere I try within a 15-mile radius is not able to help or in a scary neighborhood. . None accept Molina or accepts new patients or both. These are recommendations which have been recently suggested, phone-based calls on Molina Healthcare public phone number, several transfers, suggested phone numbers, ALL for nothing! Due to this year's change in insurance. I've had to suffer the ineptitude of Molina...particularey any mental health protocol. Shocking! and potentially harmful. 100% incompetent/ negligent. I was transferred at least 8 times, plus "call-back" numbers...simply trying to obtain a 10-15 minute appt with a genuine MD, specializing in Psychiatry. ALL I require is the continuation of existing meds prescribed by my last Dr. What's so hard about that? I spent from 11:30am to 4pm exhaustively TRYING to connect to a legit psychiatrist's office to make a simple appt!!! What the hell is wrong with you people?!? i USED TO TRUST YOU. 4 1/2 hrs is LONG ENOUGH!!! I've been patient, mindful of my tone, complimentary of stellar customer service....though lacking in results. You should be ashamed!!! I miss my PPO!!! You suck!!!!!!! read more

This is based on my appointment with the allergy clinic and consult with Dr. Lopez. He is probably one of the nicest and approachable doctors I have encountered. He is professional, listens to your concerns, and helps develop of plan of care WITH your input. I've now been getting allergy shots at the clinic weekly with Jay, RN and he is also fabulous! He is super friendly and takes great care of all the patients. Definitely recommend coming here for the allergy clinic!! As for the ophthalmologist I saw, he was not friendly and dismissed my concerns. He almost laughed them off to be honest. I haven't felt that disrespected in a while. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Today's visit couldn't have been better. I made it to the check-in desk and there were plenty of professionals to check me in. After about 8 minutes, a very nice woman came to usher me into a prep room. Another 5 minutes, and the mammography technician walked me in for my yearly visit. My procedure went very well, the woman performing the test was very congenial, and made me feel at ease. This location is getting busier by the year. The appointment schedules that I've tried to obtain for both my primary physician and this appointment were scheduling a couple of months out. If you need to be seen earlier, I might suggest you go to the Sharp app and look for cancellations. That is what I did, checking a couple of times a day for about a week to get an appointment within 2 weeks. When I have come to this facility in years past, the waiting room would be about 30% full. Today's appointment was at 9:30 on a weekday, and the waiting room was packed (so kudos to the great staff today.) The parking lot was also completely full. Leave yourself extra time to get to the facility and park. You do not want to be late for your appointment. Today as I drove down 4th Avenue north to south, I had to stop twice for construction crews. Also, as I mentioned above, the parking lot can be completely full, and street parking is limited. I think this is a great facility, with attentive and talented professionals. read more

I got a reply from two people from Sharp but it's too late to help me because I've already spent thousands of dollars for these two medication's in 2024 for which you guys would NOT make a tier exception, so it was a total waste of my time to make out all that paperwork! I used to think that Western medicine took care of their own because I've worked as an RN for 51 years, But that is definitely NOT true of Sharp community medical group! It's the end of the year and I was not happy at all with the way I was treated as a retired RN at Sharp so I'm leaving and going to Scripps January 1st! I'd rather go to Scripps... There are good doctors there... And my co-pay for each medication that I'm taking right now is only gonna be $42 each instead of $420 for the two of them which I've been paying since the summer when you guys screwed me over and wouldn't give me atier exception! If I could give you half a star, I would... No, thanks to Sharp and I would just say to everyone else out there forget about Sharp, especially if you go with United healthcare and also I compare Sharp health plan to scan plan and it's not as good and you have to pay out more money with Sharp health plan as well... Sharp Hospital is to be the worst hospital in California. I submitted a claim for California Paid Family Leave on December 5th, 2025. My leave was from December 15th, 2025, to January 19th, 2026. The doctor had one job: to fill out the medical paperwork correctly. The form being filled out incorrectly caused my claim to be denied. Dr. E is inconsiderate, insensitive, rude, and disrespectful. Dr. E did not resolve that matter and will not answer calls from the EDD or resubmit the information online. The doctor refuses to answer my calls or messages. Dr. E didn't display empathy or sympathy for my family's situation. I do not recommend Sharp. The employees do not care. It's February 9th, 2026 and my claim still says denied. This is not about the care or any doctor. I booked an appt and waited for months. I thought it was at 1:30, but I was mistaken. It was at 1:20. When I arrived at 1:30, they told me I could not be seen and I had to reschedule. This is ridiculous. The doctors always run behind--at least every single time I've been here. And not to mention, the last doc I had either switched practices or retired, and I wasn't informed so this was a new doc I picked after researching. I admit I made a mistake, but making someone reschedule when you know darn well there is time and availability when healthcare appts are booked so far in advance is a trash practice. read more

I'm very disappointed with my recent experience at this urgent care. I came in for a wrist issue and as usual paid my copay expecting basic care. The provider Stephanie Yen had a poor bedside manner and did not clearly communicate any treatment plan. She gave me a wrist brace worth about $20 without informing me there would be an additional charge and certainly not one as outrageous as $230 especially at an urgent care facility. When I expressed that I was in significant pain and struggling with basic tasks like dressing, driving or cooking she simply told me to go home and take Advil. After pushing for more help she prescribed a cream which caused a rash the next day. When I reported it another doctor called me immediately seemingly concerned which only made the whole experience feel more unsettling. To make things worse I had visited this same urgent care two years ago for a broken toe and was given a medical boot at no extra charge. So I had no reason to expect such a steep unexpected fee for something so minor. It feels like I was penalized for speaking up about the lack of care and now I'm stuck with a bill that does not reflect the level of service I received. Phenomenal healthcare in San Diego. I see Alana Dembitsky, and she is the best pcp I've ever had. She truly cares about her patients, and takes the time to 1) speak and listen to her patients to understand their needs, 2) thoroughly review all tests to understand the results, and 3) explain the results, concerns, strengths of her patients' health issues. I am completely confident that Dr. Dembitsky is providing the best care I can possibly have through her thorough investigations and descriptions. She also is incredibly warm and easy to talk to. I feel very comfortable explaining all of my concerns and asking any question, even if they may be silly. I can't recommend her enough. Also, having many of the medical services in one building is very convenient! I am able to go in for my annual check-up and get my blood tests in one visit. read more

No. I'm a chronic pain patient with anxiety and panic and have had 4 lumbar fusions in 6 years. I e advocates for every service for pain myself besides just meds. Nothing unless I push it. I changed insiiaoni have access to more advanced procedures to UCSD and sharp. So I have degenerative disc disease which I'm turn means surgeries for the rest of my life. I'm scheduled for a spinal cord stimulator trial with UCSD for pain management but another disc is blown and UCSD requested an MRI. Sharp put their paws into it and denied it saying it's not necessary to know what is going on with my back????? What. Now I've had recent , extreme lack of care from sharp that I had to fight to get help, but now this. 4 days before my MRI I'm told this? So you even care about people Sharp??? I would have to say no. You make me fight, advocate file grievance and neglagence for my care and you still say too bad. The funny thing is there will be a number for me to call and discuss this after they read this, but it's automated and there is no one that will help. But if you have serious concerns,not a stubbed toe, sharp sucks and they are not advanced in any way as told to me by someone that was my caregiver from Sharp. They said why are you wasting your time here they will never help. Well at least someone was honest. And neglagence is a fact. When you report you had a blood pressure reading of 212/111 after an unnotified change in your medication and asked for help but where ignored,that's neglagence, I could have had organ failure, stroke,died. I came I. Urgent Care with a rash they sent PA I told her I would rather see Doctor. Dr. Yen was very dismissive and told me my rash was not emergent although it is in my eyebrows, side of my face I never have strange rashes pop up, told me I can get hydrocortisone over the counter, I asked for her name then she Said I can send you prescription. I am in contact with an attorney to file a lawsuit. I was sitting in the waiting room, waiting for my wife to come out from her visit, so we could drive home. I am turning 70 yrs old this year/ I was sitting upright, entire room was quiet, no kids, and had my eyes closed. Enjoying the peace and listening to the birds outside. Then something happened that absolutely shocked me. I suddenly realized someone was standing in front of me, so I opened my eyes, and this large man told me there is no sleeping in there. I said I wasnt sleeping. He then asked me if I was a patient. I said no. He asked me why I was there, I said Im waiting for my wife. He asked me what is my wifes name. He was being very antagonistic at this point, and he is not a hospital employee as far as I know, so I told him its none of his business. I told him to get a hospital employee if he wants that answer, and its none of his business. He then told me I had to leave. Eventually it wound up he and another guard grabbed me and tried to drag me out. After failing at that, they eventually let me go sit down and wait for my wife. I had my right shoulder badly damaged, bruises where he grabbed me and I cannot currently use my shoulder at full strength as it hurts, and my back hurts. I also have scrapes on my knees where I was bleeding. After my wife came out and we left, nobody has apologized to me, a man in a waiting room waiting for his wife, and they physically assualted me, tried to drag me out, then basically admitted they were wrong, but never apologized. read more

Just a quick update on recent periodic dermatologist and wellness exams I received. 1. Dr Melancon has been my Sharp dermatologist for several years now and continues to protect me from a history of skin cancer ( melanoma included). Exam this month was six month follow up to a carcinoma he removed last October....and fortunately nothing noted last week ! I really appreciate his expertise and very good care ! 2. Dr. Morris in family medicine gave me one of the best routine wellness screenings I've had this week. What was truly impressed was the time he spent one-on-one reviewing my latest comprehensive lab results. His patience and talent explaining each variable until I ran out of questions really appreciated, as surely I put him behind schedule with other patients as we definitely exceeded the 15 minutes physicians have these days per appointment. Arrive 15 mins early, which I did. It is now 7:13am for a 7:00am appt. Pictures do not lie. When they arrive, we are told to have a seat and she will call us in order. No good morning, or thank you for your patience. Another 10 minutes goes by. No one is called up. Healthcare is complicated in post-covid but a little respect and kindness can go a long way. We are all humans. They then start talking about how slow their system is and how the opener did not show up and she is always there at 6:30 am and they should not have to be the ones to open. Service has been getting more sparse and hard to gain over the last year or so. Shortage in personnel seems to be the easy excuse for prolonged waits. I have a call out for the Radiology department at 300 Fir street in particular. I got a mammogram and didn't get the results for THREE WEEKS. My doctor in the Sharp system was totally in the dark as to what was going on, and there were no clues as to what the hold up was. The total cost for 1 doctor visit and routine lab work: over $1,000.00. The cost to see a doctor in Internal Medicine is similar to that of an ER visit. This feels like a total scam. In-addition across the street at Rady children center it also says 8010 Frost is there. Also when I did get to the correct building I was looking up your name on the directory downstairs which your name is not on. Suggestions: 1. When you send out your scheduled appointment put in your suite number along with the address and mention you are located behind 8008 and not at Radys childrens, 2. Get your name on the directory. 3. Everyone has bad days a little reflection on others days and a littler compassion will help you in life towards your goal of being a good human being that will reflect in your karma in a good way for the rest of your day. However, if I could give a rating for the people who pick up the phone to schedule you an appointment, I would give 0/10. Three receptionists were the least helpful in helping me schedule a regular doctors visit and OBGYN intent. 1. When I tried to book a regular appointment, they said, " why do you want to see the doctor ?" I said it was because I hadn't gone in a couple of years, they said that I couldn't just book an appointment to see a doctor... and so I asked what were my options and they asked again, why are you seeing the doctor... they told me about "office visit" and I said sure - I was so pissed at this point. They booked me for an "office visit." Turns out: Insurance does not 100% cover "office visit." Cost $186. 2. When I went to the doctor, she wanted me to come back I. 6 months. Different receptionist argued with me that I can't just come back... I told him to read the notes, she requested I come back. He begrudgingly booked me for another "office visit." I went and she told me to go book an appointment with an OBGYN. No referrals needed. Cost $186. 3. Called the OBGYN office... she asked, "why do you need to see the doctor?" And I told her my doctor told me to go to an OBGYN. She said, "you can't just book an appointment." So then I asked, "what are my options?" Yes, there's an annoying and time consuming theme here. She booked me for a "wellness woman's visit." Cost: $0 (covered by insurance because wellness is a preventative visit). Find a different urgent care. The administration of this one is a shambles. After charging us hefty fees for service, and waiting 20 minutes afterwards for "them organizing our paperwork" they didn't even bother to put in the samples for the lab after it all. Weeks later we discover this, after asking. Not like we were waiting for results or anything, for the reason we actually came in in the first place. And no, they did not refund us for not doing their job. But what's hundreds of dollars for zero results? ( sure, they're doing them *now* but only once we followed up. ) And at this point, should be complimentary. Where to even begin? I was taken to Sharp Memorial ER 2 days prior to having to go to Urgent care. I had been hit by a car. The ER staff overlooked many of my injuries including a broken bone and dismissed me within hours. 2 days later their minuscule supply of norco and telling me to walk it off backfired, and I went to Urgent care out of desperation. My leg was deformed and purple, it was not just swollen as the ER had said. The people working the front of Urgent care are very nice and accommodating, one even brought me an ice pack. But the doctor - who was very nice - was absolutely clueless. How many different ways can I say "there is something wrong with my leg, please believe me"? He dismissed all of my concerns, sent me back to the hospital for an ultrasound to check for a blood clot, and refused to write me a doctor's note for more than 3 days. "It should get better, it's just swollen," he said. "Take advil, drink water." My leg was so purple it was almost black, I couldn't bear weight on it, I couldn't bend it, I couldn't straighten it. I spent a solid first week in an unbelievable amount of pain and having lost all faith in Sharp doctors, ended up going out of network. As soon as the out of network doctor saw me he said, "your leg is very obviously broken." After tests and radiology, sure enough, it was. In fact, there is a laundry list of injuries that I suffered from, and Sharp doctors just said, "that's just a bruise, it's just swollen, it'll go away in a few days." Absolute horseshit. I don't know if it was the first day on the job for everybody at both Sharp Memorial and Sharp Urgent Care, but everybody dropped the ball in terms of my care and I am beyond pissed and disappointed. I have a long road of recovery and a huge bill for a few hours of bullshit, and I can't help but wonder how much damage was done the first week that I was ignored. Sharp Rees-Stealy is absolutely HORRIBLE! I just left their network after being in it for over twenty years. I do not know why I stayed so long. My experience with so many of their doctors at their downtown site and their main facilities in the Kearny area, was overall very poor (does not include surgeon, had a good surgeon). Honestly who is hiring these people? They run commercials on TV about the Sharp Experience, which makes one wonder if you're doing such a great job, then why do you spend so much money on a big marketing campaign, when word of mouth work will do the job just fine if you're taking care of your patients. ***Quick caveat (Are there some good people who work at their medical facilities, I'm sure there are, I did meet a few, but overall that was not my experience) My experiences encompasses nine, YES NINE, different physicians/physician assistants/patient liaison) Each one in some form or fashion shouldn't be in the position they are in, a few have retired) Once again NINE, I kid you not. That's not good! With that said I first reached out to their patient liaison, who I had spoken to in the past because of another previous situation, and in both cases when I spoke to him he seemed very disconnected and acted indifferent. It was very concerning, I couldn't believe his title was actually "Patient Liaison" felt like he was anything but that. So from there I wanted to go up the chain of command and decided to contact Dr. Steven Green who is in charge of their doctors........and it only got worse. Speaking to him was truly unbelievable! After a shoulder replacement surgery, I required physical therapy on my shoulder. My therapist Andrea Adrianna, has a very polite professional demeanor! Prior to any treatments, she did an exam of the injured shoulder, that required therapy! Her exam was very thorough as she took measurements as a starting point for my therapy and would be able to ascertain improvements in therapy for my shoulder! She made certain that I knew, if an exercise hurt me too much that I would let her know and we would stop! Andrea is a very caring therapist asking how my shoulder was feeling asking how I did. I remember after my surgery, I was feeling very good, I asked her if I was to the point that I could do some yard work, I have a hedge separating my property with my neighbor, I started to ask her if it would be okay to trim the hedge. She made a positive comment, I have patients that I can't get them to do exercises and then there are those, like you, that you can't keep them down. She advised me, the hedge can wait, let your should rest a few weeks, which I did. I would like to commend Andrea Adrianna for her professionalism and caring for her patients read more

My daughter worked at Sharps, Frost street facility up until recently. She quit due to her treatment by the staff. The facility is way under staffed and the staff that do work full time are rude and condescending. She was bullied and many times came home in tears up to the point of feeling like her life was worthless. HR did nothing! She realized that HR at Sharps is not there for the employees but there for the company. On the day she quit her manager apologized to her. He said he was pressured to be mean to her by the other health care workers and he told her he'd given his 2 week notice also. So FYI all the patients that get bad care at Sharps it's because they really don't care at all. read more

I saw 4 doctors before they finally would issue x-rays for my hip injury. Now 9 months later I find out i have a CAM FAI issue that could have been prevented if i had a more timely x-ray. It's likely I'll need surgery now due to their resistance to provide further care. Go to UCSD or Scripps instead if you have a physical injury. read more

Rolled my ankle picking pumpkins like an idiot. Headed to urgent care because it was only a 15 minute wait. They were all very professional and courteous from start to finish and literally had me in and out, with X-rays, in less than 45 minutes. The Dr. Was very personable and took the time to make sure everything else was well. Highly recommend this place should you need to visit urgent care for any dumb reason that may come up. They only made fun of me a little bit for the pumpkin picking accident. They have seen a lot dumber situations. read more

This one-star review only relates to the scheduling of appointments. I have all the respect for the Doctors here, but the schedulers and check-in staff are very indifferent. Wait times after the scheduled appointment can range from up to an hour That's not being seen by the Doctor. That's just put into a room. When I have pointed this out, the check-in individuals simply "shrug" and give an excuse. And then let me know if I chose not to wait, the next time I can schedule will be 2-3 months out. I like the clinic, but with no apparent respect for the patient, I'm not anxious to give them more opportunities. We have too many good facilities in San Diego who will give more consideration to their patients. No one wants to be treated like a number and a bother!!! read more

I always have a pleasant experience at this location. The staff is always warm and welcoming. They offer you water and hot coffee- they give out water bottles not just a cup of water. The coffee is pretty darn good too! They have their own garage parking for $2 and there is always a place to park as well as specialized parking for urgent care patients! The nurses and doctors are very courteous and professional. I absolutely love my physician. She genuinely cares about me and listens and addresses any concerns. You can improve on everything! Customer service is the worst - to talk to billing i waited Over 2 hours finally hung up i have a life!! My doctor both times were an OVER an hour late for my appointment only my first doc. apologized. The second doc was just rude and literally did nothing but refer me out to other doctors such a waste of my time and money worthless appointment. Don't expect to gave a follow up in a reasonable time frame my doctor told me she waited me back in two months but was booked up 5 months out then went on leave so my appointment was canceled ! Good luck with the app messages sometimes they get back to you. The customer leazon well also good luck there still waiting on that call back. New to sharp this year,it's literally been a nightmare getting anywhere and now being charged for an appointment that should of been covered . I do NoT recommend Sharp downtown . Both good and bad. Once you see a Doctor, all is good, very good. However, the way to "reach" a doctor or do any followup through the phone is agonizing. I was previously with UCLA and regularly made appointments as needed the week of and in some cases day of.
