Do NOT go to Dr. Ebrahimi. As a physician myself, I am absolutely shocked at the way I was treated for simply asking a medical question regarding my pregnancy. I have a documented history of iron deficiency, and during this pregnancy my ferritin came back critically low (5). This is not a trivial finding--it increases the risk of preterm labor, jeopardizes the baby's growth, and significantly worsens postpartum recovery. I have previously responded well to IV iron since oral iron causes me intolerable side effects. Before I could even finish explaining my concerns, Dr. Ebrahimi repeatedly interrupted me, became defensive, and raised her voice. She flatly dismissed the idea of IV iron because "my CBC was normal," and accused me of "arguing" with her. She went so far as to say she only takes advice from board-certified OBs (as if listening to her patient, or to another physician, was beneath her). When I calmly explained that I simply wanted to confirm whether receiving treatment outside of Sharp was safe, she condescendingly turned to my husband and told him that he should "help me stay less stressed." This behavior is beyond unprofessional--it is patronizing, outdated, and dangerous. A competent physician would have engaged in a respectful dialogue, explained her reasoning, and acknowledged the patient's perspective. Instead, I was met with arrogance, hostility, and dismissal. I have never been treated so poorly by a doctor. The fact that she has positive reviews on the Sharp website is alarming, and I strongly urge Sharp leadership to reevaluate the quality of care their physicians are delivering. I've been here several times through the years. A few times over the last 12-18 months, the wife had the flu and most recently, it was my turn to be sick (September 2023). I was very happy to find out that this urgent care is open everyday, including Sunday the morning of my visit. I had been sick for a few days and was getting progressively worse. My poor wife had to put up with my coughing and tossing and turning all night, and by morning, she was "encouraging" me to go (to urgent care). Lol This urgent care is easy to find, it's a few minutes of driving after exiting from the freeway. It was not crowded at all since it was an early Sunday morning, and of course there was plenty of parking. Checking in was a breeze. I just presented my insurance card and ID, explained my problem and I was seen within 5-10 minutes. The receptionist was very nice. The nurse (Anjali) that took my vitals was nice as well. And then Dr. Chang was also great. He was very thorough and made sure to answer any questions I had. I pretty much felt better a few days later, but I feel that it's better to err on the side of caution and visit urgent care versus wait if you are feeling worse. The last thing I wanted was to develop a bad pneumonia or infection and get hospitalized. This urgent care is clean... from the waiting area to the exam room. It's nice that it is a large waiting area as well... plenty of room. My only knock is that there is not an urgent care closer to my home. I made an appointment on Sharp's app and e-checked in beforehand (including confirming my insurance and allergy records), and e-notified my arrival on my app on time. But I was still asked to fill in a paper form, and waited with walk-in patients. I arrived before the scheduled time, but the injection was completed 40 minutes after the scheduled time. The process of vaccination was good and professional. I fully understand the necessity for the background verification. However, the reason i made an appointment is trying to do it quickly to go back to work. It wasn't quick at all. I will suggest you coming here with abundant time planned. read more

I came to this Sorrento Valley location for my dreaded flu and COVID shots. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the whole process and experience. From making the appointment to the easy-to-find and convenient location (just off Mira Mesa Blvd.). The receptionist and nurses were friendly, helpful, and caring. The whole experience took less than 15 minutes. Hopefully, there will be minimal side effects. So far, so good. read more

I give five stars when I love a place so much and I know I will return to. I switched to this location recently from the Genesee location. Even though it's farther away from me, the place is amazing. There's lots of free open parking, the medical building looks amazing, but most importantly, I love my new doctor, Dr. Gore! She's patient and really listened to my concerns well. Enraged is an understatement! I've been waiting months to be seen by the Ear,Nose,Throat team because appointments were so sparse. I finally get my day to go and hopefully be rid of the pain I'm in. I check in and I'm taken to a room, briefly questioned by the nurse about what's going on, then I waited 20 minutes in the room only to be pulled out by the front desk and told that they were having issues with insurance... they were saying that they work with the people but only to a specific amount, the cherry on top is they don't take self pay because it's a specialist... after all this I wasn't seen but rather given the number to argue with insurance about as well as told that if it does get fixed I'd have to go to the back of the waiting line and wait another few months to be seen... this place should have told me before that they couldn't use insurance and self pay before when I made the appointment and drove the 35 minutes to get down here. In a state of paranoia searching google reviews of melanoma, I scheduled an appointment and was seen within 2 weeks by dermatologist, Dr. Wiggins Lee & racquel. Everyone in office is so kind & have such sweet and patient energy which helped reassure me Throughout the entire mole shaving process. Numbing & the procedure literally took 10 mins and was given aquaphor for post treatment! Less than a week later I got a voicemail stating i was skin cancer free & i am so grateful for the team & experience i encountered here! Absolutely horrible. I went there in agonizing pain from fibromyalgia and dr. Golden took away my only medication that helped with the pain because I didn't mention a sedative overdose that happened a few months back when I was on waaaaay more sedatives. I was on 7.5mg mirtazapine, 16mg buprenorphine/naloxone, 2mg clonazepam, 2000mg of methocarbamol, 60mg of propranolol and 50mg of hydroxyzine a day. I was only supposed to take 1000mg of methocarbamol a day but I was in such bad pain that night i took 2000mg of it. It caused me to end up in the ICU due to aspiration pneumonia. So what did I do? I stopped taking mirtazapine completely, i reduced my buprenorphine dose to 8mg every other day and reduced my gabapentin down to 1800mg a day, pretty much stopped taking hydroxyzine all together. The rest of the meds I kept the same but I obviously learned my lesson so I never took more than 1000mg a day. So obviously I'm not taking the same meds and the same amount of sedatives. So why the fuck would I mention to her the ICU incident? I wasn't asking for an ADDITIONAL sedative. I just wanted to try switching methocarbamol for baclofen. She agrees to this, i get to the pharmacy and she cancelled all my orders of not only the baclofen but the only thing keeping me sane, the methocarbamol too! That fucking monster has left me with no pain medication at all so now I'm gonna suffer even more than I already was. She also called me and told me she no longer trusts me since i didn't bring up the ICU incident. How unprofessional and rude. She the said she now doesn't feel comfortable prescribing me any muscle relaxers and once again said she doesn't trust me. SHARP DOCTORS ARE SHIT. Every doctor I've seen is a fucking moron, liar or has a stick so far up their ass they're growing a tree out of their mouths. They won't even prescribe you damn tylenol. You'll go and just waste your money. And good luck calling and getting any help. Total waste of time. SHARP SUCKS. SHARP SUCKS SO MUCH THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO SHIT. Kaiser was far better. Same with Scripps. The doctors actually care at Kaiser and Scripps. Sharp they just want you in and out as fast as possible and they won't prescribe you anything that helps. For example, I had a friend who was in withdrawal from Xanax and the Sharp doctor prescribed him propranolol. That's it. He ended up having a seizure. Fucking moron doctors. Had been going to Sharp since 2023 when I suddenly had an issue with my insurance a few months ago where Sharp informed me I was not in-network. This happened literally after I had finished an appointment, when billing called my phone so I went up to the check-in desk where the lady informed me that yes there was an insurance notice next to my name but she forgot to check it and signed me in... There was a lot of confusion with the insurance company itself as to which provider is in-network but in the end, I was told I have to cover costs for ALL appointments since 2024, totaling about $1000. This includes a $285 charge for a telehealth appointment which my doctor was 45 minutes late to. To top it all off, I had contacted Sharp billing after my first appointment to ask about some charges on my account and they waived the charges, not knowing (?) or not informing me about the change to my insurance so there was some negligence on their part too. I know that Sharp is not legally required to tell us if we are in-network or out-of-network, but it should not have gotten this far especially because I even contacted billing before this entire fiasco came to light and especially when there is a flag on our profile literally when we check in. read more

Update: After posting this review- I got to speak with Jessica-she is the Lead and Nurse in Occupational Medicine and Dr. Ashley. They both deeply apologized for the wait and their front staff's behavior and they both took the time to listen to me. She explained that they were short-staffed and Jessica was the only nurse there. Nurse Jessica Dr Ashley's explanation, excellent behavior, attitude, empathy and kindness to listen and apologize and take responsibility for their staff's behavior more than made up for the bad customer service we received so I am changing this survey to 4 stars. I posted this review in Google as well. Beautiful facility, but the Occupational Medicine staff lack quality customer service. We went here for a work-related injury upon specific instructions from my husband's Employer's Safety Officer to go to Sharp Rees Steely Sorrento Mesa Urgent Care. The Urgent Care staff were kind to guide us to redirect us to Occupational Medicine Department instead. We were trying to explain to Occupational Medicine front desk that we had specific instructions to go to Urgent Care at 7:30 Am. The Occupational Medicine clerk/scheduler was chatting with 3 other Sports Medicine clerks and gave us an attitude and told us we can call our Employer and talk to them as we won't be paid the cost if we go back to Urgent Care. We told her the hand injury is pretty serious as the bleeding continues. My husband waited over 1.5 hours in the waiting room and this young clerk/scheduler gave us dirty looks when we followed up to check if a nurse or a doctor can be available to see my husband sooner. There were like 5 patients called ahead of my husband even though we checked in much earlier than these other patients. The Occupational/Sports Medicine front desk folks kept chatting and seem undisturbed to see a patient needing urgent care having to wait for more than 1.5 hours. My husband even showed that his hand is bleeding with blood dripping down the bandage thatwe applied from home. They showed no empathy, no kindness. This is such a terrible experience that I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone. If I can give zero star I would. read more

I grew up with my health care provider being Sharp Rees-Stealy. I had for the most part positive experiences. I had an amazing pediatrician who was extremely nice, caring, thoughtful and smart. She diagnosed me with Scarlet Fever when I was 4 that no other doctor could diagnose. I knew when I had my son I wanted him to have the same pediatrician. The doctor is Dr. Uma Narayan. She used to be located in Miramar at a facility that is not there anymore and is now located in Sorrento Mesa. This location is a good 20-25 minute drive from my home I feel it is worth the drive because I trust Dr. Narayan and love the staff. The pediatrics department at this facility is wonderful. From the front desk personnel to the nurses to the doctors everyone is polite, welcoming, and friendly. I feel they honestly care about my son's health. He is not just another patient to see. The wait time to be called has never been more than 10 minutes past our appointment time and the staff is very good about making sure all questions are answered. They do not try to rush you out of the office. I wish all doctor's offices operated this way. They also offer late night appointments on Wednesday which is great for working parents. As much as I love this facility the drive into and out of Sorrento Mesa can be a pain, but I feel it's worth the misery of traffic to see a truly amazing doctor. The parking lot is also very large so there is never an issue with parking. The building itself seems fairly new. It is very clean, bright and modern feeling inside. If at all possible, avoid this location and prefer the main Sharp Hospital with the ER in the Kearny mesa area off of the 163. I have been coming to this sorrento mesa location for sometime and for the most part, everyone is nice, however, the RN for my PCP is extremely rude and condescending and makes you feel like you are wasting her time, every time I have been there for an appointment. The first time, I was referred back to my PCP Dr. Light by my orthopedic surgeon, who wanted a simple ECG done to ensure I was ok to consider arthroscopic surgery for my knee. When I went in to to get it done, this RN 'CEL M.' (she refuses to give her full name when requested) - was so condescending and rough while doing it, the ECG result said clearly that the data was poor and that it will adversely effect its interpretation by the Dr. I didn't say anything at that point and until now, since I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she had a bad day, who knows, we all have those. But fast forward to now, approximately 1.5 yrs. later, I am in need of a simple steriod injection in my back due to debilitating pain that has sent me to the ER, AND has been recommended by my interventional radiologist, BUT, it needs to be pre approved by my PCP Dr. Light or it would cost me $475 for a simple injection paid out of pocket (keep in mind the high cost of medical insurance premiums we already pay every month !!) I did what I was supposed to, wrote a respectful and detailed email to Dr. Light explaining the situation and requesting this pre authorization be sent at his earliest convenience so I can arrange to have the injection done by the interventional radiologist. The RN Cel M. is making things so difficult, calling me and telling me how we need to do a video call first and figure out what's going on prior to them sending a simple preauthorization request so my insurance can approve it - all the while when there is a mountain of record from my visit to the ER yesterday AND an MRI that shows clearly that I have a disc protrusion that is causing this pain and needs to be relieved asap. Unfortunately, the last year has been tough for me with some continuing medical issues and as a result I have had to go to several Sharp locations to get things taken care of and I can tell you, by far, this RN is the worst I have ever encountered. She should really retire. You can just tell when you meet her, just does not have the empathy and care a health care provider should, and I know what it takes since I am one myself. Attached is a snapshot of the ECG report that shows it was of poor diagnostic quality and could not be clearly interpreted. Went there when passing kidney stones and the front desk guy made me wait 30 minutes just to check in because he wanted information verified but I was in so much pain I just walked out and went elsewhere and was helped immediately with urgency. That was 3 years ago, and today I went back in to take my brother and they had my brother go in and they were with him for 30-40 minutes getting information and telling him what it could be but performed no tests then gave him 3 Tylenol pills and a paper to go to a different urgent care. We took here today our daughter who has special needs because we're concerned about dehydration. She has been extremely drowsy for the past two weeks from the new seizure meds and we've been working with her neurologist in adjusting the doses of her meds but the progress has been going so slow. We're concerned that dehydration might be also causing the drowsiness. We came to this location hoping we can get the treatment we need for her after reading the reviews. Disappointingly, the nurse couldn't find her vein and we were sent home not getting treatment she needed. Having been with Kaiser for years and not been to the doctor in forever, I had no clue where to start! I heard that Sharp accepts Aetna so I called around trying to find a same day appointment for a new patient since I was about to die from a cold/flu! (Maybe a little dramatic, but not over the top) The second number I found happened to be some sort of call center with a wonderful woman who helped me track down an available appointment. So I got an appointment here to see Elizabeth Mayer. The woman on the phone gave great direction to find the exact office to go to. When I arrived they gave me a mask so I wouldn't contaminate the office. Understandable, I would have stuck me in a bubble so they were pretty nice there. Check in was easy and fast! The woman at the counter could tell that I was not able to speak without coughing so she had no problem with my silence and writing the info she needed! The nurse who took my vitals was very kind and compassionate! Again, she was pretty quick too! Perfect since I wanted only to go get back in bed! The Dr. or PA (I think that's like a nurse practitioner maybe) Elizabeth Mayer was so nice! She put me at ease and did not doubt my symptoms and didn't make me speak more than necessary. Told me I am to got back to see if on Monday 1st thing if I haven't improved! Today, I'm 90% better thanks to my inhaler and cough syrup! This location is gorgeous and super clean!! As I was leaving with my "keep away, I'm in quarantine" mask on, all the staff wished me well. Really made me feel like they care! I've received most of my medical care at Sharp Rees-Stealy from pediatrics to adulthood. Most it was at the old location on activity road. The amenities here are much improved and happy my doctor moved here. It's a new modern facility compared to the outdated building. Everything from making appointments, checking in, using the phone app to talk to my doctors and follow up has had been great. I've had great doctors in primary care and specialty. I've had a few procedures here. The medical staff including the doctors made me feel very comfortable and safe. Never had any issues with the billing department. If you have any balances they will advise you at time of check in. They use a palm identification system which is nice to know that your identity is verified with another step. Urgent Care and Radiology are all located in the same building which is quite convenient. Lab draws as well. Overall I had no issues while I was a patient here. read more

The staff has been fantastic - from the receptionists (who greet you with a smile + by your first name) to the aids to the PTs ... fantastic! They're all friendly, fun, and make you feel comfortable while still being professional. The facilities themselves are clean and there are parking spaces a-plenty. SHORT VERSION. Within an hour of arriving at urgent care in Sharp Rees-Stealy Sorrento Mesa hospital, I received simple surgery for removing cholla spines from my foot, and I was provided with a 2-week supply of antibiotic (Cephalexin capsules). Also, within the first twenty minutes of arriving, the clerk accepted my medical insurance and I didn't have to pay one penny. LONG VERSION. Then, I decided that I should drive myself to the emergency room of a hospital, and so I went to the nearest hospital, which was Sharp Rees-Stealy on Genetic Center Drive in the Sorrento Mesa district of San Diego. Within 20 minutes, they accepted me as a patient and, a few minutes later, the physician was performing simple surgery on my foot and she opened both wounds a little bit with a scalpel and then she removed a couple of embedded cholla spines.
