I drove 1.5 hours to Sumter to my appointment that I scheduled WEEKS in advance only to find that their lobby was closed for new flooring. I received a confirmation email the day prior to my appointment, and received the check-in link one hour prior to my appointment. It would have been courteous for them to send an email to every person who had appointments scheduled that they would not be seeing anyone in the office. It could have saved me a 1.5 hour trip. I had to hear it from the flooring guys. This is horrible customer service and a HUGE inconvenience as I took a day off from work. It was also a waste of gas to get there and can't even enter the building. Needless to say, frustrated doesn't begin to explain how I felt this morning. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

Our son started Camden Military Academy this past school year as a Junior and will be returning…read morethis year as a Senior. CMA has changed his life and I do not say that lightly. His academics have risen dramatically I believe due to the small class sizes, very available teachers who really care and will offer individualized attention and advice that is specific to your son, tutorial sessions, study hall, and endless opportunities to succeed in academics. My son's Christian faith has become his own. He takes it seriously and talks to other cadets and encourages them to take their faith seriously and attend religious opportunities both on and off campus. He has succeeded tremendously in leadership due to seeking out opportunities and taking advantage of opportunities presented to him. He loves the camaraderie and "brotherhood" that he has found at CMA. I am so grateful for the TAC officers that have acted as "local parents" offering mental and emotional support, guidance, and mentoring. My son has turned into a man who has direction, focus and a future. He is a different person than he was when he walked through the doors and my husband and I are so proud of him. And he is so proud of himself.

Camden's structure, small class size, staff, the camaraderie of boys in a brotherhood all make room for a new chapter of life. Today, our son has plans for his future path to serve in the military. Our learning and behavioral health team all recommended one school as the only solution he could change his entire life and it was at Camden Military Academy. They were right! What Camden provided that no one else could: Structure, routines, rules, character development, accountability, and build confidence. The overall experience has been 5star! So grateful!

Situated outside of Eastover, SC, the base is a small RTI centered activity. In the RTI building…read morethere is a mix of small barracks rooms and two gender neutral Soldier rooms. (Two Soldier per room, not two of them) The barracks are 8 to a side in bunks, two bays sharing a bathroom, wall locker per and a desk per inmate. The two human rooms have microwave and tv and WiFi. They are said to be nice, and at least for some people come with maid service. The barracks are better than some I have been in, but the mattress remind me unfavorably of the field sleeping pad. And they are new. The pillow is not as nice as the mattress, so bring your own. Same with the sheets. That having been said, they have washers and dryers in every bay, which is civilized. They do have WiFi which is reasonably fast and does not bog down, so someone in the S6 know what they are doing. Complements to you sir or mam. The Two Soldier Rooms have shared laundry facilities down the hall. The DFAC (cleverly named the Crescent Moon Cafe), though sanitary, did not meet my gastronomic standards. The menu was a bit repetitive and tacos were on Wednesday rather than Tuesday. As DFACs go, it wasn't bad, but it did rather play to the reputation that Army food has spent generations earning. They do have Ice cream. The PX is tiny. Like really tiny. They have zero uniform items, so don't plan on getting any. It is also closed Monday and Tuesday, which is barbaric. Post chapel, tiny gym, and a small USO roundups the scenic attractions. If you are here for BLC, know that this is one of the nicest setups going. It is not, however, Club Med.

Yada yada yada and it's Sat. and I'm being escorted by SLED to the airport to board a charter flight to Columbia. We landed at the Owens Field Airport. I didn't realize it, but it was a Gamecock gameday. I saw some Gamecock fans that had flown in and were waiting for vehicles to take them to their tailgate. I was going to flash them the "Spurs Up Gamecock Shaka", but then I remembered I was wearing handcuffs. Then I was told to "get my ass in the van" that was waiting on the tarmac. I sat in the back. It smelled like feces. There was a steel mesh divider between me and the guys up front. It looked like we were headed to the stadium but we passed the stadium and kept going. We came through the blighted Arthurtown community. I used to think those people were poor and worthless, but my daddy always said even poor people are worth a lot to the right jury. And poor illiterate people that don't know how to read settlement agreements are worth the most. What wisdom! We finally came to the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center. I can't believe I've spent so much time in Columbia and have never been to this place. There were a few times in college when I was supposed to stay here, but my daddy and granddaddy called some friends and then there was a change of plans. From the outside, the place did not look too inviting. I think the coiled razor wire was really overdone. We drove right up to the entrance. The guys helped me out of the van. Going down steps can sometimes be tricky wearing leg shackles. I was hoping that Dick and Jim would be there to greet me, but they both said they had plans and they'd catch up with me later. I hope they got the $500k check I sent because I don't I think I can write another check from the BOA Forge acct. Once inside, I went to processing. It was like the Concierge at a Four Seasons, except instead of mahogany, area rugs on marble tile, ambient lighting and complimentary chocolates, "The Glenn" uses more concrete block, steel, cement floors, fluorescents and there were no freebie treats... How chintzy on them. Their interior designer went with white as the primary color with a light taupe trim. In the color psychology, white represents purity, cleanliness and innocence. But to me it seemed more sterile and bland. And another downside is vomit, feces and blood show up more on white surfaces, which was apparent at The Glenn. One of the agents handed the booking clerk some papers and told her "he's yours now" and just like that, they the SLED guys were gone without even saying good-bye. My new attendants from the Richland Co. Sheriff's Dept hustled me to get my mugshot. It reminds me of the scene in Raising Arizona where Edwina tells H.I. to "turn to the right" when she's taking his mugshot, while H.I. is trying to woo her. I wondered what would happen if I told this hoochie mama sheriff deputy "damn girl, if sexy was a crime, I'd be taking your mug shot?" I don't think she's tasted real ginger ale before. But I held back because I couldn't risk another slip up like the Cousin Eddie debacle. I'll have plenty of time later for romance when my state paid vacation is longer. I then went to wardrobe where they handed me new clothes. I asked where the dressing room was, and the nice officer told me I was "standing in it." I guess it make sense so that they can do the cavity search at the same time. I saw my voluptuous sha'niquapotamus from the mugshot lean over to sneak a peak of my copper flopper. I knew she was gingercurious. They took the clothes I was wearing and put them in box. They added a bag with some of my other stuff SLED had given them including my cellphone. I was hoping they were going to let me hold-on to it so I could snap a celfie to remember my stay at The Glenn. The staff at The Glenn was all business. They took me to my assigned cellblock. All the doors were steel with a small window with bars to look out to the atrium. I was in my own cell, so I didn't get a chance to meet any of the other guests. It reminded me of when I lived on the KA hall in college, except The Glenn didn't smell as much of vomit. The Glenn had a little more fecal aroma. The cell had a stainless steel combo sink/toilet and a cot for a bed. The mattress and pillow were covered with a slick waterproof, plasticky material. I'm sure it was supposed to be stainproof, but mine has some serious bloodstains. I'm guessing someone got shanked while trying to sleep. I missed breakfast, so I was pretty hungry. We got room service around 5pm. The meals were in a styrofoam food containers that they shoved through the door. The menu was beans and franks, mixed veggies, a handful of fritos and piece of white bread with 2 pats of butter. I had to forget that Sat. night was always surf & turf night at the Orlando Recovery Center. I made the most of it and settled in.... what the hell have I done?

Steve has been around for a while and knows the ins and outs for getting settled here. He even offered to help park our RV. The park was quiet and the neighbors were very nice and friendly. I recommend you at least check it out if your looking to for a mobile or long term RV space.

I would not recommend SUMTER COUNTY Family Court in cases of domestic abuse…read more My initial case was for an order of protection against my spouse. In retaliation, my spouse filed separate support and maintenance, claiming "irreconcilable differences." I had a valid counterclaim for divorce, custody, and support. I submitted substantial evidence to prove his allegations against me to be false/libel. Additionally, I provided that he was mentally ill, assaulting our children, and intentionally endangering their lives (kicking us out of our home) to gain the upper hand in the current custody pursuit. And you know what that judge did? He granted him temporary custody 2 weeks later, pending guardian ad litem. And you know what my spouse did the day he got that judge's signature? Had me arrested for the kidnapping he was on the scene committing. So I filed a cause to show contempt nearly two weeks ago, because law enforcement is no help for "civil matters." And you know what the court has done about the parental kidnapping and multiple violations of our protection orders? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Am I glad I ignored the message and took the time to stop by, drive through, and walk around. Expecting to find a park with a slant on conservation of flora and fauna, some endangered, I was surprised to find that and a lot more. South Carolina is home to one of nations Wildlife refuges, and at 45,000 acres, it has something for everyone. There's a road through the Refuge for those wanting an overview, with the road starting on one end from Hwy 1 and going a few miles through wooded areas, and past some ponds and lakes. Within the Refuge are a few hiking/walking trails ranging from a little less than a mile to a little over three miles. For ornithologists, it's a must-stop spot. As you enter the refuge, near the office, there are brochures available describing all the things to see or do during a visit. It's open for self-guided touring if that's your preference. Surprisingly, at certain times of the year, the Refuge is open to hunting, and in a smaller area, open for fishing as well. Every month highlights different wildlife Every so often, they do controlled burns that mimic those in nature with the goal of creating conditions that help certain animals and vegetation. Even the ponds and fields are managed to prevent thing that hinder new growth or prevent wildlife from flourishing. It's an amazing sight to see, and best of all, it's free.
