The grounds are beautiful, and the acoustics are perfect. Follow their social media for events, and contact them for your next reunion, party, wedding, or other needs. Note, parking is all around the area, under the overpass and in other areas. You may have a walk a little, but it's well lit and beautiful.

We waited in line outside till the doors opened for the show then made our way in. The coolest part was realizing this was a record store! Lots of great finds in here. We managed to get up front for the show and loved every minute of it. The stage is sectioned with the front being nice and low to be nearly even with the guests then there's an elevated section. Great crowd, great acoustics. My husband and I loved it. Hopefully we'll have another chance to check it out soon!

The space itself is surrounded by other buildings and is medium sized. In keeping with the name, there are meditative motifs to the interior decorations. This space seems quite versatile, our group used the round tables with nice table cloths and folding chairs to enjoy a potluck and then hold a meeting. The space could be kept entirely open, used for talks or lectures, or ay sort of party. There are overhead doors on one wall that presumably could be opened for an indoor/outdoor event. Circa 1857 has such a great location on Government Street right be the Garden District, that it would be a convenient place to have a meeting or event. So don't hesitate to consider The Guru for your next gathering!

They provided me with the tables (high top, circle, & rectangle), chairs, and even have linens available. There are 2 bathrooms and a back room where you can have your food/buffet set up. They even have this really awesome bar cart that my bartender was able to use! It can double for a beverage/food station too. (You know I added plenty of pics :P ) This is an extra bonus but I recently learned they also can host meetings, interview recordings, and more so it's not just for parties or weddings. While it's mainly concerts that rock this venue, I've attended corporate events, watched LSU Tiger games, and enjoyed a show or two in years past. I've always enjoyed my time here. Not to be confused with a cinema, this multifaceted venue has played host to a number of events and has partnered with many organizations both local and national to feature great acts and some for great causes. My favorite event in the past was a Saints game night, where for $12 one got unlimited beers (Bud Lights only?) and all the hot dogs one could eat, as well as red beans and rice. If that deal is still available, I'll be floored. The parking isn't the most friendly. Street parking is usually that is available and it's more luck than anything else. The Varsity is in good company with a number of other super famous establishments located within the same block. Figuratively, one could chow down at Chimes, play games at Barcade, drink their face off here, and then head to Louie's or Raising Canes for some late night food. This is such a prime location that it's great for a solid casual night out. From concerts to comedy nights, there is literally not a thing that this place can't host. While I do wish for a slightly better men's bathroom, unsightly conditions do happen at places that holds hundreds of people at a time. The parking lot is behind the building and is not big at all. Fortunately we were able to park across at LSU visitors parking lot and walk about 3 minutes down to the venue. There was a bar with about 10 barstools set up but those were taken. I would suggest being first in line to get a seat at one of these. Upstairs had a few tables but once again those were taken. I ended up watching the show against the wall next to the railing and had a good view of everything. I had a Basic Bitch drink which was surprisingly good. Drink was huge and was only $11.
