It was really busy (Monday holiday) but people were generally good about watching their kids and the owner who was working seemed to have it together. The space is clean and well-maintained; I know she sanitizes and washes things often. I'll agree that there isn't much adult seating outside of near the door. It's $10 for the first 90 minutes with 1 child and 1 adult, which seems fair to me.

The cabins could use a bit more privacy - all the huge, gorgeous, picturesque windows are problematic as (particularly in the winter) there's several other cabins w/full view into your windows. It would be nice if it was more of a private / woods view than looking into other cabins. That said, my daughter & I enjoyed our time and have been repeat customers. Would give it 4.5 stars (Yelp doesn't give half star option, but I needed to account for the lack of privacy in several of the cabins in the area we were in.). Overall a great option & we'll likely be back!

I kinda found it odd to pay $21 to explore the dunes but here's what we got for the price: - unlimited train rides - Ability to wander the desert - Executed their scavenger hunt - the kids rode a massive slide (unlimited) - we explored a fair/troll maze - dug for fossils - visited an old gas station - walked through an old home - unique playground This place isn't just the desert (and I don't mean the mini golf.) It's a little hidden wonder that offer families things to do. My kids (4 and 13) were fully immersed in the experience. The oldest was keeping the youngest involved in the scavenger hunt which he loved looking for the 'red' guy. The hands on portions fully captivated them. I was worried the walking might be a lot for the little guy but he didn't complain not once. It was explorative and interesting. Keep in mind, on hot days I bet you feel it! Bring sunblock, wear hats, closed toed shoes are best and water. Also, the big blue slide in the rear of the desert shoots little ones out like a cannon! I thought he broke his arm but he was ok! You've been warned.

Placed another special order for the same kind of fish, hopefully not deformed this time, never heard back from them. Last encounter was maybe a month or two back, went in to look for another kind of fish and plants, and was met by a worker who seemed pretty uninterested in being there/helping me. Overall weird vibes here and it's always kind of gross/wet/filthy. I want to like and support the local fish store but honestly I've had better experiences at both pet quarters and petco by the mall (which is a pretty low bar).

My parents used to bring us all the time when we were young; I think because MWP really IS NOT a zoo (so don't come here with that expectation). It's more of a rehabilitation center or sanctuary than anything else, and I think my parents liked how educational, real, and local it felt. We came to see Maine's wildlife in their natural habitat recover from injury, or because they were formally raised in captivity by humans, or because they were orphaned for whatever reason. It's a safe place for ME's critters who can no longer survive in the wild. (PRO TIP: Ask the staff about the animals. They have a list of all their names and how long they've been residents; if you reeeeally pry, the staff also have favorites and it's fun to hear their stories about the animals' big personalities!) I've come back a few times as an adult, and I still appreciate it. It's a gentle, relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. I've seen bears, turtles, raccoons, deer, skunks, and - yes - even moose (though, again, set your expectations accordingly: they are notorious for NOT showing up for us spectators). I have, over the years, spent a stupid amount of money feeding the trout at the pond by the hatchery. There's a ton of information there about how Dry Mills is important to the preservation and continuation of our aquatic ecological balance (they release thousands and thousands of fish into the wild every year, it's incredible!). Maine Wildlife Park itself is worth the visit, but they also have events throughout their open season as well including archery classes, plant sales, fairy-themed days, and harvest parties (just check their website FMI).

However, you can see almost all the different wildlife that can be found in Maine, most importantly moose. I don't know how much I've spent on moose safaris over the past few years to never see a moose. After a nominal fee, I finally got to see one up close. They're amazing. While there are areas that have seen better days, it's good to see they're investing in improving the facilities. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you come up empty handed after a moose tour.
