Good campground, clean and fairly priced. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants a nice getaway spot

First time camping there. Couldn't say enough positive about it. The owners are very knowledgeable and friendly. Hubby liked that it's easy to get into. Legions bar and grill ! Stopped in and hand had lunch x4 and had the was supposed to be a hot cornbeef & Swiss On rye and think it was ham lunch meat sliced thin and didn't taste like cornbeef!! !!!! Will not eat there again 4 sure ‍!!!! read more

This was our first outing of 2019 and first trip to this campground. I picked it as it wasn't too far away from home and it's early in the season and the pool said it was heated. Overall very clean and nice staff. The bathrooms were clean and modern which is not typical of a campground so kudos to you guys It was so quiet there we had the pool pretty much to ourselves. The pool wasn't exactly warm but I bet it was heated it just is so hard to keep up the heat when it continues to be 50 degrees at night. There was some road noise but not bad. The bugs were absolutely terrible but I did see the staff going around spraying the next morning which was thoughtful and that night it wasn't as bad. It was a nice experience and I would recommend this campground to my friends/family. read more

Great campground located on the Saco River. All the employees were very friendly. Jim, the owner provides a safe camping experience during this pandemic. The campground provides a recycling bin at every campsite. They also provide trash pick up at your site. The playground, pool and bathrooms are clean. They also spray for mosquitos. Wild blueberries grow wild between the campsites. Ask about their canoe shuttle service. read more

Decided to take one last weekend before the official end of summer and go camping at Woodland Acres Campground in Brownfield Maine. The weather was amazing and spectacular as the temperatures were in the 80s with not a drop of rain. Woodland Acres offers large campsites with beautiful views is the Saco River. One of the main features of this campground is the variety of canoe, kayak and floating trips down the river. They provide the boats and transportation up the river to the launching areas, so all you have to do is paddle, relax and let the current take you back to the campground where you make your way to the shore and disembark. The "crew" takes care of the rest. My party elected not to do the water ride this weekend, but plan on coming back next season to take the river ride. Unfortunately, there were some things that kept my rating low. The biggest issue was the cleanliness of the bathrooms, particularly the women's. The toilets had brown stains and it appeared that they were not cleaned daily. They also, along with your campsite fee, have extra fees like you pets and the use your personal canoe or kayak. These small fees just seem like a bit to much for me. There also didnt seem that there wasn't any swimming area. They had a sign warning campers that there wasn't a lifeguard on duty and to be aware of the posibility strong currents. Oh yeah, they also said that the beach across the river was off limits. Along with those there are a few more positives. The check out is 2pm which gives you, lots of extra time on your last day. They also have a heated pool which definitely is a plus. read more

The campground itself was awesome. For a little place on the side of the Saco you really can't ask for more. Yeah the bugs sucked - but deal with it you're camping. I got bit more than Evander Holyfield's ear, but I didn't get Zika so you won't die, just a little uncomforted. Yeah there were some loud people but after 10pm the owner was going around nicely asking people to keep it down. Chill guy, said his dream was to own a campground and just recently bought it and you can tell he is making constant improvements daily. Bring a grate for the campfire, the one that is provided you can't cook burgers on unless you have a big pan because of the 6 inch gaps between the sections. read more

I spent a week at Woodland Acres Campground in August of 2018. I don't write many reviews on yelp but I had such a great time on this vacation that I felt I needed to write a review. I visited woodland acres with my siblings and my nieces and nephews. The campground was a blast for adults and kids. Swimming in the Saco and the pool was a hit for everyone. The sites are spacious and private. The owner was very accommodating and ensured a wonderful stay. We will be returning next year and I'm sure for many years in the future. We are a large family crew that has been coming here for years. Definitely a much lower bar of fellow campers in recent years. Real party spot now which is a bummer if you are a family with kids. Lots of pot smoking all around and pretty openly. Also plenty of over imbibing. People throwing up in the bathhouses etc. not as well kept as it has been. Filthy bath houses with no toilet paper. Staff is really young and probably don't care that much. River trip was a disorganized shit show. Probably time to find a new spot for us. Too bad. Used to be really well kept and on the quieter side. People on the Saco now are also pretty trashy. read more

One weekend we rented a canoe for an overnight camping trip- left from the campground and finished up 13 miles down stream after camping along the river overnight. Simple to set up reservations, and they got us in the water quickly and easily. Give them a quick call at the end of the route and someone is there to pick you up in a matter of minutes. It's about $100 all together, a pretty good deal if you as me. Another time we brought our own canoe and just used Woodland Acres for their shuttle service at the end of our trip and parking in their lot. Again their service was fast and friendly. They seem much less crowded and less stressful than River Run which is across the street. Haven't ever camped at the campground, but it looks nice and geared toward families. read more

I stayed here for a long weekend with a group of 25 in one of their safari fields and had a blast! The grounds, buildings, and overall appearance were clean and inviting. The staff was friendly and pleasant to deal with from arrival to departure. We took advantage of the canoe rental and shuttle while we were there and everything went off without a hitch! You can imagine trying to get 25 people, food, drinks, and other gear organised and on the road to the drop off point on the Saco river can be a task and a half but the staff was well prepared for us and everything we had to bring along. After the trip down the river all we had to do was pull up to their private launch and they retrieved the boats from the water for you and you're on your way. If you're not down for a canoe trip they have a swimming area with a dock and floating raft. Bathrooms were especially well maintained and clean, even the outhouses in the safari field. If you're looking for a well maintained place to relax with the family and/or friends this place should be at the top of your list! read more

My family and I have been coming to this campground for years. Under new ownership this year from what we understand. We always look forward to this trip, as we stay the long holiday weekend and kayak the Saco River with a large group. The owner (male) and some of their workers are incredibly RUDE!!!!! The owner yelled in my face at my campsite because I was laughing too loud, on our first night (Friday night)... I mean GOT IN MY FACE, in front of my friends and husband. Very aggressive-acting. We were around our campsite having a few drinks, just like almost any other camper on the planet... no music playing, no kids running around because they were all in bed, just adults enjoying the start of a long weekend together. I was so disturbed by the whole thing for the whole rest of my stay. His approach to me was completely unnecessary and a display of aggression I've never ever encountered in my life. A simple "ma'am we need you to quiet down please it's now after quiet time" would have been the appropriate approach. The next night our friend staying in the next site over found the owner and a worker sitting in a vehicle next to our sites, lights off, watching us during the evening (not even quiet hours yet). He approached them to ask what was going on, and the workers referred to me as "the blonde one who thinks she can do whatever she wants", not knowing this person was with us. The kicked our 10 year old and some of the other kids around that age out of the rec hall on a rainy day because they didn't have an adult with them. NO other campground requires an adult at a rec hall, and if they were smart they'd realize we give our kids tons of cash that THEY GET to go play games for a few hours and get out of our hair for a little while. We also overheard one of the workers making vulgar remarks, using the "F-bomb" when talking about some of our campers coming in from our river trip. Up until this year, we were always able to exit the river at this campsite- one of the luxuries of camping there. This year, WITHOUT NOTICE, we pulled off to the side where we usually had, only to be met by one of these same workers, and told that because we didn't have a "tag" for our kayaks that we had to keep paddling down the river to the state landing, and only people who rented canoes/kayaks from the campground could use the landing. Luckily he asked us to move off to the side quickly and get our belongings out of the way, probably sensing that there were about 17 pissed off adults he was going to have to deal with. The sign on this site read "WOODLAND ACRES CAMPGROUND CUSTOMERS ONLY"... WELL, WE'RE CUSTOMERS!!! At no time during check-in did they tell us this was a rule, offer a tag, give us written policies/rules for the campground. I will never go back as long as these jerks are running this place. We make this a yearly trip with a large group of friends and their kids and they pissed all of us off enough that none of us are going back there. If you want to have fun, relax, and feel welcome in a campground, DO NOT GO HERE. read more

We were going to stay here for 5 days. The first day we showed up on a monday and thier were not many campers. On tuesday we canoed down the saco river. We did the 8.3 mile canoe trip and they drove us to the drop off point and we canoes back to the campground. So far everything was great. When we got back to our camp site we saw that several ther sites had campers around us. But one site had hispanic people in it. There were 6 adults and several kids and all you could hear was loud hispanic music and the women were singing to the music very loudly like they were alone deep in the forest with no one around them. This continued all night until 4:30 in the morning. Myself my wife and my 2 kids got no sleep at all. They had no respect for other campers. The rules are that at 10:00 pm it was quite time. We never saw any of the workers from the campground come and tell them to stop their noise. The owners house is far away from the camp sites so I guess if it didn't bother them they didn't care. Thenext day which was wednesday we spoke to other campers and they all said the same thing abou the hispanic campers. They had no respect for other campers. At about 8 am wednesday moring the hispanic music and singing started back up again and it was so loud that we could not even hear our radio unless we cranked it up. We spoke to a girl that was working at the store and nothing was done. So we decided that we would leave and go home. They did not want to refund us our money for the next 2 days. We will never go back to this campground. Also they have over 108 camp sites and they only have 2 washers and 2 dryers. read more
