Happened upon this restaurant one evening. I saw a shawarma place on the north side of the street, so I prepared to turn off and go back, but here was another shawarma place. Quickly looked at Yelp and saw a fantastic number of reviews. So this place looked to be the real thing. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the beef shawarma platter to eat in. The guys just kept piling more and more on the platter. It was absolutely ridiculously huge by the time they were done. It was stacked with beef on top. As I paid, I asked for a take-out container. There was no hesitation. So obviously, this is the way they do it. I sat in the super clean dining area and started in on this massive dish. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. It seemed very clean in the restaurant (signs say leave your dishes on the table - so they are obviously bussing the tables regularly). The washroom was also exceptionally clean. The staff that built my meat mountain were super friendly. I would certainly recommend this place!

A popular shawarma place located in the downtown ottawa area. Tried their chicken shawarma poutine and found it pretty good. Had some other friends try their wraps as well and they looked absolutely delicious. Not pictured but also had a chance to try some of their shawarma meals which were very good as well. Although I thought it was good, it's hard to say I'd come back as I'd want to try some of the other shawarma places in the area.

Highly recommended to me by Ottawa-locals, this place did not disappoint and was a solid 5-star shawarma place. In short, they've got big portions, large shavings of chicken, all the pickled fix-ins, seasoned potatoes, and a fresh side of salad. To summarize - delicious and reasonably priced!

A shawarma restaurant that seems to bring in a good crowd right when they are open, which tells a lot about them. Despite being probably the 20th person in line, you could tell they were really efficient with what they did as the line move fairly quickly. We ordered the chicken shawarma and they really packed it up to the brim as the amount of food in the container was about to pop open. For two people, I would say this was a good portion as we were full right after. The shawarma itself was good but I also got a falafel to try and found it slightly too dry for me. I am glad I got to try this as I found lots of good ratings of this location.

I visited this place when I was in Ottawa for job interview. I was hungry and didn't care much about where I eat. I went here for a quick byte and found my takeout was stale and very dry. I also understand that in the pandemic it can happen so I can give this place benefit of the doubt, 3-star because I couldn't eat the food and had to go to a timhortons :( Staff was good and prompt though. I am due to visit Ottawa again for work and i'm thinking about trying this palce again. I will bring the dryness up with the folks this time (last time I drove away and didn't want to go back to a long lineup due to Covid). I read all the good reviews so I hope my experience was a one-off case.

Back in Ottawa. Somebody told us that SP is the best Mediterranean Restaurant period. We were near UofO and thought of stopping over for a late lunch. The place was a bit crowded as it near 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. A bit of a line up but it moved quickly. Most of tables were still dirty/left unclean so had to wait for a couple of minutes. Ordered two Falafel Sandwiches, a veggie platter, a small potatoes and a small Baba Ghanoush for four of us. The falafel sandwiches were good. The falafel itself are huge and so the sauce and pita together made it a little dry. Ask for extra sauce for a better experience in my opinion. The veggie platter is huge and delicious. The broccoli and cauliflower were the best. A salad, vine leaf, falafel, potatoes, hummus and some more condiments come with it. Absolutely amazing. The falafel has a mint taste to it which was a nice touch. The potatoes and garlic sauce served are most amazing I have ever tasted. The sauce a bit too garlicky even for a garlic lover I think. The baba Ghanoush was plain is served with two pitas. All the food had a bit too much salt as well. I think they need to tone down it a bit. Otherwise it met our expectations. Visited again on 2016- 03-25 same delicious food. Garlic Potatoes are out of this world.

Listen, I'm from Toronto and we have almost everything you can think of. From Poké to the pizza and from Italian to fusion-style food. We have shawarma and lots of it but...there is no shawarma palace... What I'm saying is, we have shawarma but Ottawa reigns supreme in Lebanese food. I am truly ashamed Toronto does not have it and will gladly drive to Ottawa just to get myself 2 plates, no salad (and get made fun of) and extra potatoes. And trust me, don't skip on the potatoes with the sauce. If you're in Ottawa, PLEASE support Shawarma Palace during these tough times and make yourself regret not coming here earlier. Edit: 2 hours after I wrote this review I went to get myself a sandwich and potatoes

It was before I was on Yelp and before I was "into" food as much as I am now, lol. This location on Rideau St is the first and currently only location in Ottawa. It's where Gabriel Pizza used to be and it opened in March 2022. I was browsing deals on UberEats and saw that Boustan was having a BOGO deal: $9.99 for a small beef or chicken shawarma sandwich. Man, I remember when $9.99 for 2 shawarma sandwiches was just the regular price, but now it's actually considered a deal. Anyway, I figured why not pick up a couple of shawarma sandwiches for my husband and I after work for dinner and we don't have to cook. So that's exactly what I did. I opted for the beef, and asked them to hold the onions. The sandwich was actually quite good. It had a decent amount of beef in it and the beef was tender and tasty and not gristly nor fatty, which I appreciated. It came with shredded cabbage, pickled turnips and tomatoes. I actually prefer the shredded cabbage here over the shredded lettuce at most other places. It keeps its crunch better and gets less soggy. There was also garlic sauce which wasn't overpowering. The pita was nicely toasted too. And the size was good, not too puny. I was impressed. Pickup was quick. It was ready when the app said it was, which was about 10-15 minutes from the time I ordered. Staff were friendly. I would return to try other items. They have Saj bread, which I love. Street parking only. There are paid parking lots nearby too.

It comes with a chicken pita, a beef pita, and a cheesy chicken pita, as well as a side (garlic potatoes, fries or a salad) and a drink. I got garlic potatoes as our side and a bottle of water as our drink. The beef was really rare, I think it's because it was earlier in the day. I imagine that as the day went on it would get cooked more on the spit (?) Anyway, my husband ate most of it because I like my beef cooked more. It had pickles, tomatoes and garlic sauce in it. The flavour was good. Their spices are different than the usual shawarma joints here in Ottawa. The chicken pita and cheesy chicken pitas tasted similar with the regular chicken one having pickles in it and the cheesy one having cheese in it. Again the spices were different than at other places. I really enjoyed the different spices. It makes Mr. Fez unique. The pitas were a good size and I like how the put it on the grill to crisp it up. I would have liked some lettuce in the pitas. I'll ask next time. The garlic potatoes were good. The cubes were small, which I prefer, I don't like big pieces. They weren't mealy or starchy. They had good garlic flavour and I enjoyed the spicy garlic sauce. They also put this brown glaze sauce on the potatoes. Not sure what it was, but it tasted good. I like how staff wear fezzes. It's their thing which is kind of cool. Service was friendly and efficient. I like that they wear nitrile gloves when preparing food. There are some seats to eat in, but we got takeout and ate in the car (call me weird, but I've been eating in my car for decades and I love it. For fast food I prefer to eat in my car than at the restaurant, lol). On a subsequent visit we got the mixed shawarma sandwich (was $7.99 BOGO on UberEats) and it was fantastic! Same delicious unique spices. Thankfully, the beef was less rare this time. I love how they really grill the sandwich. I also asked for lettuce instead of onions and they accommodated :) After this second visit, I can safely say Mr. Fez is my favourite place to get shawarma in Ottawa! Street parking only.

They sell Pide under the name Ottawa Kabab too, but bigger and more expensive, the ones I got are smaller. I got the meat one ($4.99 BOGO ) and the cheese and sausage one (also $4.99 BOGO). Both were delicious. The meat Pide was filled with ground meat. It was flavourful and smelled so good. The cheese and sausage Pide had lots of cheese and little cubes of sausage. It was tasty, but I preferred the meat one. Although my husband liked the cheese and sausage better, so I guess it depends on your tastes. At any rate, we both agreed that they were delicious. I ordered on UberEats for pickup. Staff were friendly and efficient. They even wrote "Thank you" with a smiley face on my takeout box, lol. The restaurant itself has some seating inside as well as a patio. The parking situation is the only downfall. There is free parking in front of the restaurant, but there are not too many spaces and it's very tight. Difficult to maneuver around. I've been to many restaurants over the last couple years I've moved to Ottawa, but coming from the GTA, my taste buds have been spoiled from the other side. We visited for our anniversary dinner just from googling our way through, called couple hours in advance and got a slot for 9:15PM. When we got there it was packed, I got a little impatient waiting until just after 9:45 to be seated, we ended up getting the couch table in the patio. Super warm and cozy, I forgot all about the wait by the time we sat down. My other half is usually picky, but this place has my heart, we loved every part of the seafood tower, even the sushi & sashimi was prepared perfectly. Don't even get me started on the hamachi sashimi in that tower... For a Mediterranean place, I am IMPRESSED!! The scallop was nicely done, just seared enough and not cooked through so you can taste the sweetness. The lobster was also on point, . We ordered the Arancini because we saw the photos online, it's average. We also got the dessert. Now... I'm not a fan of s'mores or sweets, but we could not stop digging into that plate! We've already booked a 2nd visit for another celebration tonight, simply because I couldn't stop talking about trying their Tomahawk steak that I saw the next table eat. Yes, pricy, but this time we got another friend to join so we can get some help on sharing that bill . All in all, even though it's expensive, it's WORTH IT. Highly recommend!
