I also found a beautiful teacup and saucer with floral details that was made in France. The owner of the shop carefully packaged my finds as she kept offering me something to drink and candy for my niece and nephew who were with us. There are three buildings, the first one we started in was the antique store. So lots of trinkets, decor, kitchenware, furniture, purses, photos, and two very friendly cats. There was a lot of stuff to look through and some really cool things that you don't normally see. The couple that worked here were so incredibly friendly and always answered our questions. After going through and finding a lot of good stuff, we went to the building that had all the vintage clothing. All of the clothing is women's and everything was organised by type of clothes: coats, dresses, long dresses, pants, tops, hats, shoes, business suits (the matching blazers and skirt type thing) even really cool hangers and hat boxes. Plus, the pieces were well cared for. There is a dressing room to try things on and good mirrors, and it was so much fun to look through everything. A highlight was the coat section. There were so many beautiful ones. And any questions about anything could be answered!! The third building we didn't have time to go through but at a quick glance, it was bigger furniture, very beautiful and maintained pieces, and I could see it all in my dream home. I loved this place so much, everything was very reasonably priced and I got lots of clothes and antique pieces and it was very much worth it. The Apparel Shop is absolutely a blast to browse. If you need a look from a certain era, or if vintage is your look, this is the place for you. I love this type of furniture, so I enjoy looking around, but the prices are high. I found a couple of Mission Oak footstools I would have loved to have bought, but they were in the $400-500 range - for a simple footstool. Granted, not easy to find and in good shape, but that was more than I was willing to pay. Shop is located in St. Joseph, which is traditionally a wealthy area (Whirlpool Corporation is here, so be sure to notice the who-needs-a-house-that-big mansions along the lakeshore if you drive by). St. Joseph is a tourist and summer home area for people with money. The furniture here is desirable, beautiful, and hard to find. Those factors create high prices that others can and will pay. As for we middle class types, we continue to rummage out of the way antiques shops in hopes of a lucky find.
