Items are often not put into that system, and sometimes it refuses to apply the discounts. Jewel will lose business, that will make customers angry. The counter workers and cashier still are very nice to me, not complaining about them at all. As a test I went to another Jewel-Osco over 2 miles away and the store was normal without the soviet store sparsity going on (and nothing I needed had the dreaded forU system signs either). The store was immaculate and well-stocked. They offered several brands of the item I was looking for. I couldn't leave the store without checking out their bakery department and treated myself a mile-high chocolate cake. It was the highlight of the visit. The cake was heavenly. I politely questioned why several traditional Balkan cookies in the bakery were all labeled "Serbian," when many of these desserts are shared across Balkan cultures, including Bosnia, and are not exclusively Serbian. Instead of simply discussing my concern, the employee who made the signs approached me aggressively and asked if I "had a problem with it." She then told me she didn't care if I ever bought the cookies. I spoke with the manager expecting a more professional response, but unfortunately, his attitude was no better. He raised his voice and told me he didn't care whether I purchased anything there either. I left feeling humiliated, discriminated against, and completely unwelcome. Regardless of anyone's opinion about how these products should be labeled, there is absolutely no reason to treat a customer this way for respectfully raising a cultural concern. After this experience, I will not return to this location, and neither will my family. Management should seriously address how customers are spoken to and treated.

Shelves are well stocked but the isles are a bit narrow to navigate. Especially when shoppers stop in the middle because something caught their eyes and have no regards for other shoppers. I don't love monopolies, unless I am winning at the board game. So I look up cheap grocery stores, and other than Aldi, Food4Less came up. I found one not too far away from me and decided to venture up there. I walked through the doors and some of the first merchandise I see has the Kroger logo. Go figure. Where it comes to this specific grocery store, variety is one of the items that cost it points Their selection was fair, but the deli department is notably small, and there is no visible butcher shop (though there are meats and seafood for sale). You can more or less find everything you would need among these notably very wide aisles, but perhaps some items would require one to go elsewhere. Among the items they had, the store appeared clean and well stocked. When it comes to their prices, while nothing is cheap anymore, especially in Chicagoland, I found their prices were a little lower than average, especially for the eggs. When it comes to the customer service, this could also be a little bit better. While there was no one at the customer service desk, it had a little sign that said that this register is closed. So... if you need to return something or if a price isn't right, what then? You're just out of luck or something? I'd also like to note that this is a place where you bag your own groceries. Not a problem, necessarily, just thought I'd put it out there. Thus, while I appreciate the lower prices, the slightly limited selection and the lack of customer service cost Food4Less a couple points. Still respectable though, and I can still see myself coming back on occasion.
