Let me take you on a journey of my short hair nightmare. From worst to best. It was Friday the 13th…read moreand my hair had become so long it just wasn't manageable anymore. I have an appointment at Anthony & Co. on Baytree Rd. I show up with a few photos of my new dream hair. How I'd like my bangs cut, style ... length. I ask for a long A-line. Long. I explain that I don't want to take too much off of it and need to be able to easily put it into a ponytail. Easily. I believe Jessica was her name ... she asks if I'd like to donate it. "Sure! If I have enough to donate and if it's healthy enough" I reply. She ponies my hair up and then slices off about 13" of hair of of me and i cringe. I knew it was too short. I just knew it. But what do I do now? The last time I told a hair dresser that it wasn't what I wanted, she, seemingly quite vindictively, cut my bangs an inch too short. That took about 2 months and a bottle of biotin to get over. So I stayed quiet. Knowing it was going to look like a medium A-line at best. We wash, and then she begins to tune it up and trim it into what I think is the picture I showed her. It wasn't. She trimmed off another inch or two to give me a basic A-line. But left a bunch of hair uneven, choppy, and way too long in the back. No angles. It ending up looking like a straight bob. I tried to keep positive because sometimes you can overreact when that much hair is being chopped off and I wanted to have faith that she could turn this around. That didn't happen. She curled my hair. Which was helpful because I was able to watch her so that I could replicate it myself. Then she curled my already short bangs. Like, really curled. To the point where I looked like I had a Mr. Filosofia mustache attached to my forehead. I asked her to undo that horrific bang curl. She couldn't understand what I wanted. I had to get out of there before I lost my cool and had a Mariah Carey breakdown in that packed salon. At the register, my total was $10 more than what the website quoted. I get it. Some stylists cost more. But I still had a hard time paying it, seeing as how I felt completely hideous. So I tipped her $5 and left. I turned on some Whitney Houston and cried quietly in the car, putting down my visor to hide my hair from other drivers. Home: what to do now? I hated my hair. Maybe I wasn't clear about what I wanted? Maybe I should have reminded her again, before she started cutting, that I didn't want it too short? That I wanted a LONG A-line? Maybe I was just gonna give myself a buzz cut and wear scarves until it grew back. I decided to really take a look at the damage, I needed to straighten my hair. So I did. And boy oh boy what a mess. I analyzed it for about an hour. Trying different things with it to make it work. It just didn't. So I called the salon. Now, there are two locations. I called the one I went to. Asked for a manager and was referred to the other location. Phew! That would have been awkward to talk to a manager while she's standing right next to Jessica and her mother that works there also. I felt awful about complaining so I was glad to call the other location. Kayla! My prayers were answered. I shared with her the story I just told you. Reassuring her that while I'm sure Jessica is great, I don't feel like she did a great job with my hair and I am now horrified. She reiterated what every hair dresser has ever told me in the last ten years of off and on A-lines. "That's a very difficult cut to do". I agree. My point was, if Jessica couldn't do this successfully, I would have been happy to reschedule with someone else who could, rather than take a chance on walking out with a short bob that I definitely didn't ask for. Kayla agrees, and apologizes. She was very sympathetic and I needed that so much. I was emotionally fragile. No joke. I went from long luscious locks to OMG HIDE ME! She tells me to come in to her location and she has someone who is really great at A-lines and would love to correct it for me. Mary! My newest hero! She sits me down and assesses the damage. She is so comforting and seems to understand my frustration. She vows to fix it for me and takes her time. We wash, then she starts the trimming in the back and on the sides that were all choppy. She did this all very gracefully without having to say anything bad about the other stylists that I had left hours before. She talks me through everything so I know what she's doing before she does it. I think she could sense my anxiety and she did everything she could to keep me calm. At the end of it all she styled my hair perfectly. Trimmed the unevenness perfectly. And sent me on my way with beautifully styled bangs. And to top it all off, she is an absolute joy and so sweet. Bottom line, Anthony & Co. is definitely where you want to be when you need a new do. Kayla and Mary were wonderful! Thank you both so much for making me feel pretty again!

About six months ago, I had a pedicure from a woman with blond hair, probably named Sheril. Little…read moredid I know that experience would be unforgettable--in the worst way. I endured six weeks of agonizing pain, and a visit to the podiatrist revealed she had caused damage to my big toe, resulting in an injury I hadn't anticipated. I should have asked a female nurse at the hospital where they go for a pedicure. Live & learn.
