I am going to start this review off my saying how truly hurt I am that I have to write this. I was…read moredeceived for so long, and can't even fathom that a business that is supposed to be about making people feel good, allowed this to go on for so long. I started going to bombshell extensions about a year ago, and switched from the tape in extensions to the microweft method that they offered. I though all was going well until coming to a different salon to have my colour done today. The purpose of me coming to a different salon in the first place was that they were unreachable for several weeks, and upon finally getting a response they were so unorganized that they couldn't even figure out who I was. I was a client at Bombshell for a year. The amount of bald spots, sores, and hair loss I have is unfathomable. Had someone told me 6 months ago that the extensions were causing so much damage I would have stopped - although I sense that is why they didn't tell me, they only care about money. On top of never having my hair washed between new extension installs, they didn't even bother to remove the old beads - they were adding new beads below the old ones to push the extensions up. The beads in my hair varied in colour from beige, black, and brown. They couldn't even use one colour. My hair is extremely fine as is, and I only wish that someone had been upfront with me about the damage it was causing. Had this method been done in a sanitary and appropriate method without short cuts, I feel I may not have had as much damage as I do. They only have one staff member now, and had to shut down their large salon so I do feel as though they have bitten off more than they can chew, causing corners to be cut. If you are in this industry, and industry that is supposed to be about making people feel good, you need to do things the right way. This includes but is not limited to washing hair between installs, using the same colour beads, cutting out the old beads, alternating placement to avoid balding/extreme tension on the hair, etc. Please reconsider the industry you are in so this does not happen to anyone else any longer.

It's pretty cool to get compliments on my hair every week because of Alana's expertise! She's interesting and pleasant to chat with as well. She's been doing my hair at least a solid 2 years now, and my hair and myself honestly can't live without her now. We adore her! I've also seen Sam, super lovely and bubbly gal who totally rocks purple hair like I have never seen before!!! The two guys that work there, Kelly, the owner, and Jonas, friendly and always at a steady busy, are welcoming, accommodating, and from what I have seen, do dapper work! The salon itself is always clean, bright, definitely family friendly, quality products are offered, great prices, usually can walk in and get service right away. Speaking of which, I recall a time where I did have an appt., which ran late, and 20 minutes past my appt. time, I volunteered to come back the following day, which would have been no big deal to me, but the owner, Kelly, insisted I be given a discount for my next visit, which I did later really appreciate later on as it made me feel the actual business itself, the owner, not just my lovely hairstylist, appreciated my steady business. This was a very odd experience for me, and I've really struggled with how to review it…read more I've been looking for a salon close to home - when I saw one of the stylists from this salon post a promo on one of my neighbourhood facebook pages. The deal was amazing - $100 for a cut and colour. There were two stylists specifically named in the post, so it was unclear if everyone was offering this deal or just the two named. I called the salon and the person on the other end of the phone wasn't really interested in listening to me. I had to repeat myself a few times and clarify what I was saying. He booked me with somebody else, so I asked him to confirm if everyone was participating in the promotion, he said "I think so". I confirmed the booking, but was left feeling uneasy. I decided to reach out directly to the stylist who made the post to ask if everyone was offering the promo, or just the two of them. She didn't answer that question, but did move me to her. Ok great - it was confusing, but I was excited to be booked in. I was going for a solid colour and a trim. She was excited with what I wanted, but suggested a couple of "money pieces" at the front, which she would lighten and then use a toner on to "pop". She was so excited, so I said go for it! The stylist I saw seems to know what he's doing. The end result was really nice, HOWEVER - the process itself was confusing and frustrating. She worked soooo slowly as she applied the colour. I'm not sure if she was hungover, or not feeling well or what, but I swear to god, it almost seemed like she was falling asleep a few times. She also was incredibly rough as she worked. She used a foil board to apply the lightener around my face, but she kept pushing it into my forehead and moving it around - I'm surprised I didn't end up with bruises. She was also constantly removing dye from my face (not just near my hairline, but also from my cheek, my eyebrow, and near my mouth somehow), and her glove made contact with my lip more than once (they ask you to remove your mask once you're in the chair). At one point, she admitted that she had forgotten what she was doing in respect to the "money pieces", and had wasted time trying to "perfect the blonde", when we were in fact actually adding colour to them, not leaving them blonde. In the end, my 2 hour appointment took 3 hours. The "money pieces" don't really look any different than the rest of my hair, unless in very specific light and were a waste of time in my opinion. And we didn't even have time for the trim because her next client had to wait while we finished. Other stylists offered to step in to help her catch up, but she was reluctant to let them. Here's the kicker - While the price was good and the colour turned out nice, once I got to my car I discovered that there were GLOBS of purple dye in my ears. I'll post some pictures, but it's hard to see - there was a lot of dye in there. 2 stars because the salon is clean and the colour turned out nice enough, but I won't be back. The whole experience was just weird. **EDIT TO ADD**: Kudos to the owner, Kelly for reaching out to me and apologizing for my experience. He did offer to do my trim for free as well, but I really don't want to go back there and risk running into the original stylist. Also - within 3 weeks of my appointment, my hair has faded into a pretty disappointing brassy colour. Nothing like the photos I posted at all.

My mother-in-law recently purchased two wigs here as she is going through chemotherapy…read more She absolutely raved about the products and service so much that she suggested I bring my mother here to look at wigs. My mother has been affected by hair loss for at least the last 15 years. We popped in on a Saturday afternoon (they are closed Sundays and Mondays) and were blown away by the selection and service. Sierra assisted us for THREE hours. Had I known the process was this lengthy, it would have been wise to book an appointment but all worked out. Seirra was patient, informative, and knew just what to suggest. I will say that there are stairs here - it's a house, not a typical business so that was an issue for my mother who was limited in her ability to go inside and outside (to view the wigs in natural light). Most of the wigs come in a variety of colors/highlights so don't think just because you don't care for the colour of a wig but like the style that you're out of luck. Their website is quite extensive and a good first stop: http://www.thewigboutique.com/index.html They've been around since 1965 so you know they're doing something right. All wigs come with unlimited trims/cuts - although they can't make significant changes. Moral of the story is go home with your wig and come bag for trims because they can always take hair off but can't add it back on. Sierra didn't pressure my Mom to purchase anything at all. In fact, she had encouraged my mom to go home and sleep on it and come back if she was ready to purchase. My mom went ahead and purchased anyway, I think she didn't want to trek out again anytime soon but regardless, this was a zero pressure environment. Sierra also told us that wigs will last 6-9 months, on average, with everyday wear. You don't need to wash them very often - like every 30 wears or so. They sell all the accoutrements you need to properly care for your wig as well. I foresee some more visits here in the future! P.S. My 9 year old thought it was a hoot and loved trying on a few wigs as well. P.P.S. Don't be silly like me and pay to park. They have FREE parking in the back.

Main facts are it's closed on Sundays and Mondays, there is free parking in the back, and it may be wise to book an appt simply because there are a LOT of choices to be made. We were helped by Siera, who patiently tried wig after wig on me, starting with what I "thought" I liked and gently guiding me in other directions, until the magic moment occurred when I loved what i saw. There is absolutely NO pressure here to buy anything on your first visit- in fact, the total opposite is true. You are definitely encouraged NOT to buy, but rather to go home, look at all the pictures you took, and simply think about it. However, I knew we had finally (I took three hours to reach this point) found what would make me feel happy. For the first time in maybe two decades, I loved the way my "hair" looked. The last step was a custom trim, deliberately done with restraint since more could be taken off later but not put back on :-). Return visits are encouraged for any advice, touch ups, or whatever you need. I felt the price was reasonable for the quality of the wigs and the careful attention you receive, and foresee more purchases in the future.

Some old barber shop in some sketchy part of Edmonton where some 80year old man named Joe has the shakes and sits you down with a buzzer. Um no thanks. Long story short I got a gift card from him for this salon and was like hell why not. Now Christina Domenelli, not the salon the actual person. Yes she's an actual person who owns the salon and works there too. CRAZY I know. She is just WOW! She's this hot little mama who is so down to earth, realistic and just great! I'm planning on getting my hair and makeup done at this salon for my wedding next year and she goes WAY beyond the limits. I feel bad that the last reviewer didn't have a good experience, but I do understand that this isn't a salon for everyone. I've had a couple colourings and cuts that weren't exactly what I had in mind but they will work with you to get you what you want. My only complaint and biggest issue is the cost, it is expensive. My last cut and colour (highlights) that I got was damn near $400, I almost cried. A lot of salons offer the same thing for a fair bit less.

My experience at this salon was nothing short of magical, they managed to balance my hair and dye it a beautiful chocolate brown with nothing peaking through. They made me feel so comfortable, and the quality of everything exceeded my expectations. Quinn and Mary Jane did my colour and cut, and Mary Jane even put rollers in my hair after because she knew I was attending a party. I can now say that I will be a very faithful client of theirs from now on. The best part, it was completely fair pricing with a very expensive feeling experience. As soon as I saw Emily I knew she was the stylist for me. I had a lot of photos to show her and she understood what it was that I wanted from the start. As Emily was carefully cutting my hair I had time to look at the other stylists, clients, and the place itself. It feels like a calm, and caring place where everyone was relaxed and sipping on an offered beverage. When I found out that this is a family run salon I liked it even more. Other stylists helped to weigh in on which products would be best for my hair and then Emily found a cheaper version so that I had a choice. There is even a free bang trim between cuts which is appreciated. Somehow by the end of my cut my hair looked like my favorite part of each photo I had shown Emily. I will definitely be back !
