Been getting my haircuts here for several years by Sue. They always seem to get my hair just right (Great Clips always seem to mess it up a little different each time). The prices are great for the work and the service is fantastic. Everybody here is friendly and all the customers seem to leave satisfied. I have been going to Shear Envy for as long as it's been open. I have been having Sue do my hair since way before she opened Shear Envy. I will tell you Sue is the sweetest, kindest person I have ever met. Sue would not have just stood there saying nothing unless she thought the person complaining was not Finished, she would never just stand there and say nothing. I know Olga is one of the girls that work there and she is also a terrific person. These girls would never put up with anyone in that shop being Rude to anyone. Giving a star rating was hard, this is the third time we have come here and it will be the last. Kim and Sandy both provided excellent care, however MERLY CROSE did not and SUE did nothing towards the situation, even though she is the manager, the one the other stylists told us to speak to and saw the situation first hand. My daughter's went in for a lighten and color, arriving 20 minutes early to find one of them not on the appointment book. They were told it has been happening a lot and two others came in for appointments to find they too were not on the appointment book. My youngest dealt with Merly Crose, who started the color at $80. Then told her she needed to bleach her hair and the price would be $180, however her 1000 appointment, which she was 20 mins early for, would not allow her to bleach and color her hair before her 1200 and 1 o'clock appointments. So she asked again if $180 was an alright price, my daughter works and has been saving, so she said it was high but she had the money. Merly then went to the back to prepare, there she talked to people and took her time. At 10:40 she came back asked again if the $200 was alright and said she did not have the time, but would try and then started to collect the bleach and color to start. Luckily my daughter knew something was wrong and got up and called home. We arrived and Merly was upset that she lost her customer, I explained her treatment towards her made her feel uncomfortable and she presented an image that she did not want to do the job. She attempted to justify her actions and blame my daughter for not setting the correct appointment. The one who was not even on the appointment book! The other stylist stated Merly is not comfortable with color and was wrong in her actions and treatment, and told us to speak to Sue. Sue did nothing but smile and nod as we waged a complaint, did not udder a single word. While we would have come back to other stylists, the actions of the Manager Sue shows she does not care for the clients or the customers. Therefore we will not return. I urge you to ensure you go into Shear Envy and find a stylist, make your appointment directly with them and stay away from Merly Crose if you want an agreed upon price, one that is not raised in hopes you leave. read more

I really wanted to like this salon... but there are a few things you need to know. #1 When you make your appointment, the person on the phone is usually not the stylist you will be seeing, and they will tell you that you can have an appointment time/date, but it will not be correct. When this happened to me once, when seeing Edith, I thought it was a fluke, and then again today, someone made me an appointment, and I start getting calls from Edith that she cant see me until 4 or 5 days later. So the booking process is inconsistent. #2 When you have an issue, they do not back you up. If this is the 2nd time I have gone through a scheduling issue on THEIR end, they should now give good customer service to me as well and get me in too. No. They do not seem to understand that you need to own up to a mistake and either do a better job with scheduling, or get that other person in too. #3 The payment system is a little inconsistent. You will see one charge written on the board, but if your appointment goes over, you are charged more without it being discussed. #4 There is a language barrier here. Thats fine, but have the person who speaks english the best, schedule appointments and talk to customers when issues arrise. Today I tried to speak with Sue, the manager, and she literally said she was doing color on someone, and just handed the phone to someone else in the middle of me speaking to her. I was lucky enough to find Edith through another client of hers. Both of us have pixies and know how difficult it is to find someone who can cut it just right. Also since pixies require shaping every 4-6 weeks someone charging 75.00 plus tip is a little high for us short hair gals. Edith is a hair "creator" not just a stylist. She ask plenty of questions to make sure you are both on the page. Photos are always helpful though. The only downside is now that I'm working again I can't get in because her schedule is the same as mine. read more

Song is the BEST!!! I have been searching for someone that knows how to cut straight hair (I know it sounds like it should be easy) in San Antonio since I moved from NY. Every person I went to before her would try and use a straightener on my hair. My hair is naturally straight as a board and if someone needs a straightener, they didn't cut it right. We were lucky enough to stop in when there was no wait. I really appreciated Edith's friendly service. She made sure she understood the haircut I desired and we chatted during the whole cut. She took extra care while drying my hair. It looked so good and didn't need the use of the straightener to tame the flyaway baby hairs. I love going to Sheer Envy!! I have always had Olga do my hair and she is the sweetest. She always gets my bangs just perfect and I love all of the extra little tips she gives me. I have thin hair that breaks easily so I need a hair dresser with a gentle touch and she has got it!! I trust this salon so much that if Mrs.Olga is not available and I need a cut I will let any of them play with my hair. I was looking for a nice, clean salon close to home. I found it! I recently experienced THE BEST salon experience in the SA area. I received a cut and color touch-up on my white/gray roots. Great cut and I don't know how they did it but, expert root color match to my at home boxed color. Edith took her time and I was very happy with the salon from the moment I walked in until I left. The customer service at this establishment is horrible. I called to find out if they took walk-ins and they said it was best to make an appointment; so I did. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment and NOT one person even acknowledged me when I walked in .All stations were busy, so I waited. One stylist finished with her customer and went straight to her phone and never looked up. Another stylist went to the back and did not come back to front. 30 minutes later, another customer with 2 children showed up and they all jumped to help her and sent them to an open station. I told the lady that was at the front station that I had been waiting 30 minutes and never been helped. She said they would take me when someone was available. I told her I had an appointment which fell on deaf ears. First impression, if they can't stick to their policy, what makes you think they can cut hair. I was not impressed with any of the haircuts that I saw while I was waiting. My advice, go somewhere else where they appreciate your business. read more
