My husband and I have been getting our haircuts done here pretty much exclusively for over 5 years (both of us have short cuts and come every 4 to 6 weeks) and have always had good cuts and good service (especially when Paige is working, she is awesome!) Would have easily been rated between a 4 or 5 star up until now. Went in for our usual and when we went to pay were told the prices were raised. We were not told so before the service and there was no notice stating new pricing either that we saw. I get it, prices rise, but my side shave which has been 10 since I changed to that style is now almost double the price as it's now being charged the same as a full haircut! We normally pay 40 on what used to be a 26ish bill which left a decent tip for the stylists. Our total today was 36 before tipping! Unfortunately, it's just not worth the price to continue to go here anymore. The increase with no notice before we got ready to pay just really left a bad taste. read more

My husband and I were in town for a wedding in mendota and needed some touch ups. He got his regular cut and it was pretty good other than the fact that the top was shorter than normal. $13 good deal I got a trim and had my hair styled (25 total) but I felt like the hair stylist was burning my hair with the way she was using the blow dryer. It definitely took longer than expected as well. She was kind and asked how she was doing and whAt I wanted so with that said I asked for some oil because the blow dry made my hair coarse and frizzy. Normally when I get it dried it comes out smooth even without oil. I also got my upper lip and under arms waxed. The table to lay on had stains and foot prints so I saw the liner and placed it in the table myself. The wax was good ;) (20) read more

So far so good. I started going to Shear Magic about 2 yrs. ago after getting burned twice by the other salon by AM PM in Kingsburg. I went to Shear Magic last Sunday and it was busy. I made an appointment with Ashley to come back at 4. Came back at 4 and was seen at 4 on the dot. Got a haircut. Great job. Last time I went to E_ _ _ _ _ _ _ L_ _ _ _ I made an appointment. Very rude people I took my grand boys to have their haircut the first thing they said is we have to wash their hair because they have hairspray I told him the boys did not have hairspray they cut their hair they were very rude I tipped each one of them $10 for the two boys and all they could do was stand there and gossip with each other didn't even speak to us and both boys got lousy haircuts. Terrible!! Terrible!! I was persuaded to went in this place because of the good reviews I have read. I live in a nearby city like 15 minutes drive. There is no customer when I went in there. The girls are not so accommodating like the other salon place I have been. The girl shampooed my hair, then start the haircut. She claimed she managed the place so I expect a great work from a "manager"? She cut my hair for like less than 15 minutes approximately then voila! Done! Finished! I can leave! I can leave with a wet hair like I just got out from the shower room!!! What worst is when I got home. I purposely open my car windows driving home so that it will dry my hair. Then me and my husband saw the uneven haircuts when my hair gets dry. I was thinking to come back, but I was already upset. She must know her job well more than me. I am not sure if she really knows her job or being a racist because I'm not white! I maybe not white girl, but I'm not dumb! And one more thing, I have a better job than yours girl!! read more

I really hate to give a low rating to this place but the prices have raised at a rate, with no posted notice or indication from the people working there until after the haircut. My wife and I typically go in together, I get a standard hair cut and she gets a side shave. As of 1 month ago this was $26, $16 for me and $10 for her. We would leave a tip of $9-$14 depending on budgeting that month. Today that same combo of haircuts, the same ones we have been getting for over a year, was $36 pre tip! It was only after getting it cut we were told of the price jump. Going up a dollar or two for mine is understandable but nearly doubling the price of my wife's cut without notice is just unacceptable. It turned what should have been a good tip for our hair stylist into nothing. When there is good competition around for a better price it is hard to continue to justify spending money here and the increased price with no notice solidified the choice to go somewhere else. read more
