I called on a Saturday and usually most places are extremely busy and booked for weeks out. The receptionist was able to schedule me today since there was an cancellation. I come in and the place is beautiful, clean and quiet. You can tell they take pride in their presentation and they had customers coming in and out which let me know people were pleased. Jessica was the one who did my facial, I decided to get the dermabrasion to help with some scarring and discoloration I was having. Jessica was extremely profesional and knowledgable about what was best for my skin. She took her time and actually made this session so relaxing that I actually went to sleep, LOL! It was so peaceful and the rooms are set up to make you feel rested and comfortable. The sessions are about an hour and you can instantly see the improvements. Like most places they try to sell you products but here that did not happen. Their honesty and professionalism will make me a recurring costumer. I've never had a bad experience at the business in the past, and I reacted in the immediate shock of the encounter. Over the years, TWB had become a space where I felt safe, particularly because my experiences there had always been with women. I've had traumatic experiences in the past that have led me to intentionally seek out women-only spaces whenever possible, which is why this interaction affected me so strongly. With the additional context, I recognize that my original characterization was stronger than warranted and understand now that the questions were part of the business's standard process. In hindsight, I think there was a misunderstanding on both sides of the encounter. I did not know anything about them but found a local guy off Nextdoor & called him. I made an appointment and went in. He boasted about his training snd how he was the best hair extension stylist in Colorado. 2 weeks later I paid him over 1100.00 for hair and service. I believed everything he said and trusted him immediately. (I was getting Married in Oahu the following week) Within 3 weeks I was back in his chair to get them tightened which I was told was normal. I did everything as I was told to keep them up. But every 2-3 weeks they'd start slipping, and I'd be back in again. About 3 months ago, I saw a friend on one of my trips who said my extensions were put in crooked, cheap beads and because my hair is fine, not enough beads. He tightened me as much as he could and my hair lasted almost 8 weeks! When I got back in my hair dressers seat he admitted to using the wrong beads. Promised he would be using the better beads from there on but again, my hair was slipping within week 2-3. (Another girl before me was having the same issue) He said he only charges me 60.00 each time because he liked me. (60.00 twice to 3 times a month) He accused me of not taking care of my extensions and my hair extensions were splitting and getting frayed. 2 weeks ago I bought new hair and asked for a new install. He quoted me 350.00 and I asked if I could get a break on the charge. Especially since I go in so much. He said, I'm the best in Colorado! Then said "Good Luck". That was it! Really?! Sooo I made some calls. I had the new hair but no one to install them. I chose Sophia based on our conversation and at her consultation learned a lot! One, tightening should only be 4-6 weeks... depends on hair growth. Two, the extensions are heavier than my fine hair and the few beads he put in were weighing the strands and breaking my real hair. 3 times more beads needed. Three, my hair was ruined by breakage and the back of my head is in clumps of short broken hair, hidden by the extensions. Extensions were supposed to be used to make my hair nice till my real hair grew back out! There's a lot more... too much more. She and I did not mention his name but she knew who I was talking about. She said many of his clients leave because of the same issues. Same blaming, same boasting, same BS. I did not know there was a special license for extensions. There's so much to know! All I want to say is be careful on your choices. What looks and seems great is not always great. Sophia is straight on, tells you like it is & shows you exactly what she's talking about. It's going to take me a few years now to get my real hair back but at least I'm finally in good hands that care more about me than my money. The Math... 60.00 x 2 = 120.00 A month X 12 1440.00 annual. (Conservative) 100.00 x 8.6 times a year =866.00 Annual (based-on every 6 weeks) Big Difference in cost annually and less stress and frustration. Sophia is worth more than she charges. Her professionalism and expertise makes her a diamond! This review is being written without her knowing whereas the previous stylist begged me to put a good review out. Now I get it! A great stylist wouldn't ask... she doesn't need to. To my previous stylist, Good Luck. PS... her salon is super clean, very calm and everyone is super nice! Nails too! What are YOU waiting for!
