Since I had a bit of downtime and was in desperate need, I made an appointment with Alexandra for a full head of highlights. This was by far one of the best color appointments I have ever had. Alex immediately knew how to achieve what I was looking for with the least risk of damage; which is so important to me because my hair is so fine and breaks so easily. My thought of traditional highlights was quickly updated to getting a mix of highlights and balayage to give a more modern look which I appreciated. On top of the amazing color, the blowout was not rushed and left my hair looking soft, healthy, and not overly dry. Many times I find myself having to fix blowouts that just went bad by time I got home or just were bad to start with, but this one was a perfect mix of smooth and volume and lasted the through the rest of the weekend. Booked a cut with a Junior Stylist for $55, last appointment of the day, so I wasn't expecting the world, but still ended up disappointed and with a cut that looked barely better than what I did myself at home during COVID lockdowns. When I arrived, only my stylist and one other woman were there, but I could never tell if she was the receptionist or just the stylist's friend. I'm 90% sure they were both stoned. No shade as I was stoned myself, but I was the client paying for a relaxing experience. Junior Stylist sits me down in her chair, asks me what I want then stares at my hair and zones out for a bit, then just starts dry cutting my dirty hair without washing or even spritzing it. We chat a little bit, and she's very nice, but also keeps looking over to the second woman, who's been playing on her phone the whole time, and giggling. When she's finished cutting, she halfhearted asks "Oh, did you want a shampoo too?" By that point, I was anxious to get the hell out of there, so I said no. The cut was decent, but only slightly better than what I could do myself at home. Not at all worth the price. All in all, a very strange experience and I will never go back.

I would give this salon between one and two stars. Since I was a new customer, I did not know which stylist to choose. So, the receptionist paired me up with Kayla. When I entered the salon, there were people already in there getting pedicures, reading magazines, etc. I was not immediately greeted and wondered if there was anyone actually there to receive customers. I was offered some tea in a to-go thermos. A nice gesture, except the temperature of the water made the tea completely undrinkable, it was so hot. I waited a little while until Kayla appeared. She took me to her chair and I explained that I wanted the layers trimmed. She said that she does not do "wet" cuts, only dry cuts. I was not used to this, but went along with it anyway. The entire cut took about 5-10 minutes. She trimmed my layers just fine, but did not do any special blow-drying, styling, or even add any product or even SHAMPOO my hair. A short time later, I left the chair. This is where my big problem with Avante salon is. The lady who rang me up charged $30 for the cut. However, on Avante's website, they itemize your experience. Styling for this amount, shampoo for this amount, cut and style for another amount. Because they do this, I felt like it was unfair for me to pay the full $30 for just minimal work. If they really wanted to itemize my experience (no shampoo, no styling, no product, minimal cutting) I should have only been charged half that amount. I liked the trim when I left, but the next week, it was not very noticeable that I had had it cut. If I go here again, I would ask for a different stylist. $30 is a good price for a salon experience, but not a good price for a ten minute trim.
