I go to One On One for hair color and Trissola smoothing treatments. I love this salon. You really do get personalized, caring service. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and unpretentious. Most of all it's personalized. The owner, Kat, has assembled a great team of skilled professionals who have a variety of talents and make your happiness their main goal. Each time I leave the salon I feel relaxed and am happy with my hair. It's been cared for in a way I could not achieve at home. And yet my style is absolutely maintainable between visits--so I can feel good about my everyday appearance. The salon uses safe products (that is very important to Kat, the owner). She wants you to look great while keeping you and the environment as healthy as possible. The pricing here is fair and the folks are nice. I cannot recommend this salon enough. read more

I had an appointment scheduled at the end of July with a lovely woman whose name I can't remember. I even took the day off to accommodate my schedule. When the date approached, I called to confirm. Pat said "they never had me scheduled for that day, and that person no longer works here." I rescheduled for August 5th. After my appointment Pat admitted that they had made a mistake and I did have an appointment for the end of July. I tried to cancel an appointment the day before my color. My mistake, I didn't realize they had a 48 hr cancellation policy. They charged me $72.25 and I realized that it wasn't worth it to cancel so I decided to call and tell them I'd make it. I couldn't talk to a human because no one ever answers the phone there, so you can only leave a message or text. 7:30 pm the night before my appointment, I was sent a text by Pat who stated that my last appointment's payment was declined and that she "wanted me to know beforehand tomorrow." Pat said she'd "hoped it had been a mistake and checked it a few times and that I could settle up with Rose tomorrow." I immediately went to my online banking account and took a screenshot of my account showing the date of the withdrawal when I had last seen Rose and sent it to Pat. I said "you might want to have your facts straight before you go insulting people. I received no response. The next morning, Pat texted me and said, I never meant to insult you. I appreciate the screenshot." I said, "So, is this an apology?" Again no response. read more

Just home from my second trip to One on One. My first appointment for for color correction, and the result was really good, very natural, and it aged so well, I didn't need highlights for three months. Went today, different colorist, and I'm even more pleased. While more expensive than my former New Paltz salon, the results are so, so, so much better, and I'm thrilled. I don't normally write negative reviews unless it is a dangerous situation. But I will have to have my hair completely re-cut after having it cut by Sarah. I gave very specific instructions when I emailed the salon for a suggestion of someone to cut my hair. I told them I did not want a razor cut, it did not work with my hair and I needed a precision cut. I told them I needed to be a little artsy because I was a professional composer. I also explained that I was new to the area. And I sent a photograph showing the exact type of texture and hair that I have. With this information I thought that they would match me with the correct stylist. They suggested that I see Sarah. I made an appointment and found out later that it was on the second floor. I told them I was disabled and I was told there was one flight of steps, which is extremely difficult for me, still I was willing to try. When I arrived I saw that it was almost 2 flights. There is no handicap access to this salon. I sat and talked to Sara for a few minutes and it seemed odd that she wasn't comprehending what I was saying. So I asked to look at some photographs maybe I could communicate to her that way. Then I was told they didn't have any photographs of hairstyles in the salon. I found that very odd. Again I explained to Sara that I did not want a razor cut, that I needed a precision cut with texture and I described to her the point cutting technique which she seem to understand. I also said if need be at the end thinning shears could be used. This was not a precision cut in anyway shape or form. Sarah just cut haphazardly at my hair. It was so uneven and I kept having to point put how uneven it was in trying to get her to even out the cut. She never did the point cutting technique that we had discussed. She spent only a few minutes cutting my hair with her hit or miss snipping. Then she use the thinning shears on the ends of my hair - - - making it pretty much like a razor cut. Now my hair is cut completely uneven and the ends are flying away because of the use of my thinning shears on the tips of my hair. I was told that styling came with the cut, but there was no styling at all except for me using some product in it myself. Usually also when you get your haircut the stylist will show you the different ways that you can wear it. That was not done either. Sarah was completely spacey and unfocused. It's very clear she doesn't know how to cut hair. Initially I was not going to write a review and I reached out to the owner about my concerns. After speaking to the owner it became clear that she cared more about her employees than what is happening with her customers. The owner didn't even seem to know what a precision cut was. I would not recommend this salon for a haircutting. You are wasting your money. The complete lack of skill and experience is appalling. I'm glad that I have no professional commitments in the next couple weeks. I would never recommend this for somebody who wants something important done for themselves like a wedding. My hair is fairly short and I will have to go to another place and have it cut again in the next few days because it's really embarrassing to be walking around looking like a hobo especially after just having my hair cut. read more

There are not enough stars to rate One on One Salon. Kat and her team are amazing, they're so fun and friendly. They give you exactly what you want when you go in. Went in for a facial and Tori totally refreshed my skin. The salon is so inviting, it smells great with nice ambient music. They even have great creams and scrubs for at home use. I have been going to this salon for three years now. I was recommended here because I have a reaction to hair dye. The owner Kat believes in using products that cut out as many chemicals as possible. She uses Kevin Murphy dye which contains NO ammonia or PPD. I love her philosophy. Since going to her my scalp is much healthier and my hair shiny and beautiful. Her salon is very pretty. It's spaced out so that you're safe- only two stylists at a time and you're distanced by thirty feet as her space is large. She has two employees who are wonderful also. My husband goes to Sara and my daughter to Simone and they are very happy with their work. I love this salon and I recommend it to everyone. read more

While traveling to New York on vacation, I noticed that my skin had started to breakout and wasn't adjusting well to the weather change so I called One On One Salon and made an appointment with Tori for a facial. Upon my arrival, I was immediately greeted as I stepped into a beautiful spacious loft with the scent of lavender in the air. The salon is absolutely beautiful and the staff consists of 3 beauty technicians for a very One On One Experience. As I waited a couple short minutes for Tori to finish prepping my room, I was offered hot tea. Once my room was ready, I followed Tori inside. The room was filled with positive vibes and sweet scents. Tori had a warm bed and blankets prepared for me and made sure I was comfortable before she began. I'm almost positive that she was professionally trained by angels because I'm pretty sure I dozed off more than once. When our session was over, I felt rejuvenated and so relaxed. Honestly, 5 stars isn't enough! Kat and Dawn traveled an hour away for my wedding hair/makeup and were so amazingly nice. They arrived early, and literally every girl whose hair and makeup they did was thrilled and plans to use them in the future. Each of my friends wanted something a little bit different, and they succeeded with every look. We had a few more people getting makeup, and Kat spent her free time retouching up everyone else's hair to make sure it would last. I couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

I worked with One on One Salon for my wedding hair and makeup, and it was a fantastic experience. I had two stylists come to my home and do hair and makeup for the bride (myself) as well as three members of the bridal party. We also did a hair trim or the groom. Sarah and Dawn were incredible. They were on time, extremely professional but also warm and engaging. The styles and makeup were perfect and I was impressed with their travellng set-up -- all the perks of a salon but in your own home. I also thought my husband's haircut was fantastic. All this, and we didn't even do a trial run beforehand - so impressive! Working with the salon to get everything scheduled was also a breeze, and Carly made sure all the moving pieces came together seamlessly so I didn't have to stress anything on the day of the wedding. My friend and I had our hair and makeup done for my friend's wedding in Rhinebeck. Kat, the owner, was kind enough to open the salon on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend just for us. Sara and Leah did a wonderful job on the services and were warm, friendly, and funny. They let us bring in breakfast and mimosas, which made things even more special and fun. Amanda (I really hope I'm getting her name right) squeezed me in ultra last-minute on a snow day and took me from bleach-damaged shoulder-length hair to a smooth, even pixie cut (think Anne Hathaway about a month post-Les Mis)- all while my one year old was storming around the salon loudly defying the friend who came with me to keep an eye on him. The salon is pretty and spacious, prices are reasonable, and you can tip on card. I'm so pleased with my haircut; usually it takes a couple of days for me to like a new style, but I liked this one right away. Definitely recommend. read more
