Why would I give a gas station/convenience store 5 stars? Well, for starters they have some of the cheapest gas in the area. On top of that, I signed up for their free reward card and they gave me a free soda (full disclosure)! How cool is that? As a member, you get points for every dollar you spend filling up which translates into "free" coffee and other Sheetz paraphernalia. You can also get stuff like fountain drinks at "member" prices - save up to 50 cents on the largest size they offer. How about other stuff? Well, I've tried their coffee on road trips (not bad - def. on par or better than the dunkin' donuts variety) throughout VA and NC. This location has everything similar to the ones I've frequented in the past all conveniently located in one place. -Cups of hard sugar glazed donut holes? check. -Gum, dental floss and tire pressure gauges? check, check and check. -Sandwiches made to order for the quickie lunch? check. -Aisles of chips and snacks? check. -A wall of coffee dispensers and soft drinks? check and check. -Gas and a car wash? double check. -Kerosene pump? They have the best gas prices I've seen in the area, so I've made a habit of stopping at this location every Sunday on the way between Raleigh and Durham. I just came back from Sheetz 398 on S. Miami Blvd Durham. The glass cleaner station at the pump was disgusting and smelled rancid. I will attach a photo - you can see lots of rotting paper and other items in the 'cleaner.' Obviously, the staff at this Sheetz does not maintain the glass cleaner stations at the pump. If they are not going to maintain them, they should remove them. I cannot fully describe how bad smelling it was. read more

Sheetz is not a gas station. It's a restaurant that also sells gas. Ha! I visit this particular Sheetz quite often. I really enjoy their food. Ordering from a video screen is convenient in its own way. The employees are satisfactory, nothing special, however they always seem under staffed. My most recent visit, I ordered a sausage croissant and a frozen mocha and waited 12 minutes. The food is good but typically the longer the wait, the more burnt and sloppy the food. Cheapest local gas and ALWAYS busy! Parking lot is usually a bit crazy -- so please don't speed. Free Air Tire Inflator here with CUSTOMIZABLE tire pressure -- awesome! I've always wondered why there was a line for this tire inflator... Would be nice if there was more than one, since it's always hoppin'. Frequently, there are small "traffic jams" of cars waiting in line for it. It's hard to pull out of if you're turning left onto South Miami Boulevard towards TW Alexander (from the small side-street) -- lots o' traffic. Gas station food? I don't think so. This is high-quality made to order food yes I said high-quality, but obviously (as with most fast food places) most choices are not healthy. But they will make it exactly the way you ask. Light mayonnaise? No tomato? No problem. Coffee not fresh? Just let them know that that fancy light is blinking and they'll give you a cup for free. I love being able to order breakfast entrées all day long. And on a road trip with several people in the car that can't decide or agree where to eat, sheetz is perfect. You get gas - everybody gets their own food - ordering separately - paying separately with no problems. Just like with any fast food establishment check your bag before you leave the parking lot. If they by chance made a mistake they will fix it. This particular sheets location has never been a problem for me, hence the five star rating. read more

Good quick bite/lunch option since there's not as many options in this part of Durham as in other parts. Sheetz isn't gourmet fare but provide a solid variety of made to order and grab & go items. This place can get packed especially during the lunch rush but staff work very hard to try to get people in and out as fast as possible. Highly recommend ordering ahead of time. Even if you don't have access to a computer or phone during day you can always pre-order well in advance so you're not waiting 10 minutes or so for your order. Don't know why more people don't take advantage of this unless they enjoy standing around aimlessly. A downside is getting in and out at peak times and parking can be tough but require a lit bit of navigating. On the plus side though they have a free air pump for your tires. Even for those who may not be huge sheets fans I can tell you the food is an enormous upgrade of similar type places further South which offer gas and food. read more

I just started visiting this location a couple of months ago because it's the closest one to where I work, and I'm already beyond fed up after many weekend stops after a tiring shift at work. Every single time I go in there, the place is overcrowded and understaffed. It takes at least 5 minutes just to pick up smokes. It took about 15 minutes for me to get my meal last night. There's really no excuse with the high volume of customers for them to be so consistently understaffed and agonizingly slow, any time of day or night. The other location I usually go to near the airport is on top of the convenience in "convenience store". Always crowded, but always fast and super-friendly, and always enough people to run both registers and make things run smoothly. This one is far worse than any gas station I've visited. I even mentioned how they're always understaffed to an employee and they agreed and it has to be stressful. There was only one person making all the food last night, AT DINNER TIME. Not acceptable at all after seeing the standard of other locations, and if nothing changes very soon, I'm taking it up with corporate and updating my reviews every time I visit. read more

My favorite place to go get coffee in the morning..only a buck for an extra large coffee and they also serve all sorts of hot foods and also have an espresso bar..I also love their doughnuts and it is almost as good as krispy kreme..They have a good wide range of coffee and sodas and other beverages and they have everything you can ask for in a gas station/convienance store..I work for a major corporation and their coffee is twice as expensive than what sheetz has to offer..very good prices. read more

This is one of the two locations closest to me (FOR NOW??), and each are and an hour and a half away. I was spoiled while living in WV, and had 2 stores within walking distance of my home. So now, 3 years later, I giggle when I find a Sheetz, and demand to stop. This store is ALWAYS clean. My travel takes me through the area at random and odd hours. I have always found everything clean and in order or in the process of being taken care of. The food items that I have gotten here are CONSISTANTLY great. I get what I expect. My last stop here introduced me to a new "bagged appetizer? or bagged snack?" I cannot recall the name, however, I do remember every delicious bite that I took. The staff members that I have dealt with here have always been very friendly to me. I have never witnessed rude behavior. I have seen a few of the younger gentlemen clerks take special and patient care with young children. Any question I have asked has always been answered to my satisfaction. When you go in here, try to notice that they ALL seem to be HAPPY to work there! The gas prices... Well at any point, any person can argue this. I do not think that the american consumers are being charged or taxed fairly on fuel oil. With that said, I do not believe that Sheetz is in control of the full decision. 5 stars for a gas station?!? Yes! This is my first experience with a Sheetz establishment. Great staff. Great prices. 24 hours. But the big deal is the 24 hour kitchen. You can order food in person with the touch screen or using the app on your phone. They have everything from burgers to breakfast, Burritos to sub sandwiches. The options are endless. My complaint is based on the fact that the air pump to fill your tires never really works properly. The numbers are wildly inaccurate and it can take one minute per pound when it does put out a slight amount of air. Then, it usually will cut off entirely anyway part way through. The number of times that it REMOVES air from my tires is insane. Telling staff is useless because they don't care. Even asking them to put an out of order sign is too much. read more

The Made to Order food here is excellent. You can get loaded $2 subs (e.g., turkey or meatball), great wraps, fabulous fries, etc. With a Sheetz card, each 11th 6" or 12" sub is free. Great selection of sodas, shakes, coffees, etc. And your Sheetz card will give you $.03 per gallon discount on gasoline. Fast and friendly and one of the best lunch places around. read more

This Sheetz is super busy but usually pretty quick at making your food and drinks. They have a car wash and gas prices are reasonable.

Getting gas here is a chore during peak hours as well as trying to leave the lot. I've only gone inside once to get a bottle of water and it took forever to get through the line. I only buy gas from here as an emergency so I can get out of RTP. The only good thing is that their gas prices are always a few cents cheaper than further down Miami Blvd/Chapel Hill Rd area. I would probably never buy food from the grill from this location since it seems to be as equally slow. Cashiers are not that friendly either. read more
