On our last visit the restrooms were clean and properly stocked, everything worked as it should. If you are not familiar with Sheetz, it is a full-service gas station, convenience store, fast food restaurant, etc... This location offers made-to-order and prepared foods in addition to everything you would expect to find in a convenience store. You can choose to dine in or take your food to go. They also offer coffee, soft drinks, snacks, beer and wine, lottery tickets, gasoline and much more. If you are passing through Frederick, Maryland, it is an ideal stop off of Interstate 270 for a traveler in need of fuel or a bite to eat or a restroom break. They have a great abundance of fuel pumps offering three grades of gasoline as well as diesel fuel and charging stations for electric vehicles. Prices are competitive. Sheetz stores are located in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia with plans to expand into Michigan in the near future. I understand that it is one of the cheapest places to get fuel, but yikes, people must forget common sense when approaching the pumps. I was in need a fuel and making a Costco stop anyway. That is the only reason I got my fuel here or I would have stopped elsewhere. I pulled in and made my way to the pumps. That is after I made it through the gridlock in the parking lot. Wait my turn to get to a pump and finally get to one. When I got out I pulled out my membership card to scan it and for some reason it kept saying invalid scan or something along those lines. I then pull out my phone to pull up the app to try and scan it that way. I had to completely sign into the app again. Why couldn't it be easier? Finally pump my fuel and attempt to leave the pumps. I knew that I was heading inside to grab a few things and just decided to park my vehicle in one of the spots near the pumps. When I was done inside, I came back to get out of there. It was a nightmare and gridlock to get out of the spot. I feel that they could have positioned the island for fuel elsewhere on the lot so this wouldn't be so difficult to use.

We have witnessed an extremely fast employee turn over, over the years with most all employees being or having been true short timers. We have seen good staff and bad staff. We have seen staff that appear to care and others who are just looking to have their shift end. Specifics to point out their slushie machine has not worked for going on to four or so weeks! Oftentimes, their chicken has looked like it has sat out for an hour or so. Their potato logs...are hit or miss. We have also noticed that there have been numerous times where a single staff member had been left repeatedly alone for late night busy shifts. This sort of business practice is not only insane and unfair to the lone employee but it is likewise extremely unsafe for them. They did have one staff member though that really stood out. He continually worked the night shift many, many times alone. He was always on top of things. The store itself was always in order and clean under his watch. The chicken was always fresh and in good supply. The potato logs again, were likewise always fresh and plentiful under his watch. We repeatedly saw that he was bombarded with customers placing orders but yet, he was always pleasant and always prepared to provide them with excellent service and meet their needs. Sadly, as of late, we have not seen him there. My guess is that he got overworked and worn down doing so many shifts alone. It does currently appear that he may have been replaced with some new employees who definitely seem unknowledgeable about food preparation, quantities or store maintenance. In its current state between current staff and store maintenance I leave this location a single star with a single suggestion... fix the slushie machine...having it not working for over a month during the hot summer is not only bad business but is ridiculous!

If you want a safe place to park with cold drinks and good snacks just a couple miles down the road from the ALDI DC come to Rutters. We love this place - it's a hidden gem. When driving from the DMV it feels like the right thing to do to avoid all those highway backups, but in reality, it's not good for your bladder. I was nearing bursting on a stretch of road and was ready to pull over at the first gas station that I saw. At that point, I had no idea where I was or how far I had gotten. I had tuned out the GPS because my eyes were glued to the road to find a bathroom. I finally came out of a tree lined stretch of road and saw the illumination of a gas station. Wawa. Not necessarily my first choice, but I was happy to see the awning once around the trees. Pulled in, parked, nearly ran inside straight to the restroom. Now the one thing that all Wawas seem to lack is their cleanliness of their facilities. I don't know what people do, or don't do, in these restrooms, but they look like the ones you would find in a horror movie. Ones where they have been trashed beyond comprehension. Like how is it that the walls have paint rubbed off of it. All you need is flickering lights and you're set to be the next victim in the upcoming Wawa horror movie. Listen, even though the facilities were not presentable, I still needed to use them. All that horror makeup of the facilities faded away as my bladder returned to E. Outside the facilities, this isn't a bad Wawa. They still do have a lot to offer. I'm still not happy with their food, but I do like the swift convenience offered at the counter. Grab a drink, go to the counter, ask for an item and I was outside. With a lot of my car rides back home I always need to stretch my legs before I get back in the car. I was able to take in a phone call at the same time. While outside, I noticed that this place wasn't very busy this time of day, very early in the morning. If only that could be the case all the time.
