I had high hopes for Shelby's but felt like it was just okay, nothing spectacular. Ordered the falafel bowl over rice and salad in a regular size. Notes: - falafels were nice and crispy and well done - salad and toppings were pretty standard - hummus was good but maybe a bit too much for the portion, I would have appreciated more salad or rice instead to cut the heaviness - price at 12.99 is very reasonable - I like the crispy pita chips mixed in the bowl - service was quick and restaurant looked relatively clean with a few tables available for dine in With that said, i think there's a lot of strong contenders in this category within the city and Shelby's did not stand out for me. They know what they are doing with this one. I am impressed by many of Shelby's offerings. It begins right at the door. You are given a good impression by the nice branding and design of the place's signage, wallpaper, etc. Everything is professionally done. The place looks very well maintained and stylish. Careful thought was given to portray a certain modern vibe. Even the order receipt has a short write-up about ketchup that is easy to miss for those who are not paying attention. Service was also good. The person taking my order was very patient and polite in waiting for my order. Employee training is not lacking at all. The food was equally amazing. Their shawarma comes in Shelby's branded carton packaging. There is an easy to open pulltab that makes eating the shawarma easy and not messy. And, they do not even have to, but there is a wet napkin provided for the customer to clean up after. The shawarma is stuffed, and the meat with sauce is savory. Overall, I am extremely impressed. Food was great and a lot better than expected! I was craving a good shawarma and this place followed through. I didn't expect the crispy yet chewy texture of the wrap that I loved. Service it's self-order at the kiosk then you simply go up to pick it up when they call your order. Ambiance was laid back and not too loud with minimal seating area. They did not skimp on the beef and lamb shawarma either. And the rice was very tasty. There were crunchy pita chips as well adding flavour and texture to the salad mix. HUGE shawarma for a really good price! This place has really interesting fusion options, like mac & cheese shawarma. Loved the bacon halloumi shawarma. Great garlicky sauce (definitely not a dry wrap), lots of protein (I got chicken, which was super flavorful), and nice addition of crispy fries too. I wish there was more halloumi though! It felt like the whole wrap had 2 small pieces total. The wrap itself is also super yummy -- really thin and light. It's a huge portion so super filling and satisfying! Also love how customizable it is. Service at this location is self order on a kiosk, and food does take a bit of time to come out. Staff are friendly. I was so excited to try the famous Shelby's for the first time and really enjoyed their basic wrap. The lamb beef mix was actually a little too strong in taste for me but I loved the sauces, potatoes, and gorgeous saj bread. For sure would try their chicken options instead next time. This Shawarma chain is such a hit on social media that I actually heard of it via someone abroad, who urged me to try it. Their advertising is pretty funny, but their menu is also creative, with some fusion dishes. And the shawarma is pretty good, too. Traditional wrap with beef & lamb was pretty good. The packaging of the wrap was good: slick yet practical - definitely a cut above that of other shawarma places. There was a lot of meat which tasted decent & it had a nice torched exterior. Legendary bowl with chicken on fattoush salad & fried cauliflower was good. The fried cauliflower & fattoush salad were both pretty good, though I had to top up for the former. The chicken was decent & there was a lot of it. The turnip (free add on) was decent (pretty standard) & the garlic sauce was potent. Both chicken & beef and lamb were cut thicker & were higher quality meat than that at other shawarma places. Also tried the churros. Those weren't so good - they were very chewy & had a flavour less rich than that of regular churros. Stick to the Spanish/Mexican version. read more

Every bite was packed with delicious spices and tenderness. The food definitely lives up to the hype! What made the experience even better was the warm hospitality. I had a quick chat with the store manager, Anjith, and when he found out we had traveled from the US and were first-time visitors, he surprised my son with a freshly made churro on the house. Staff was friendly but they got my order wrong, giving me 2 beef wraps instead of a beef and chicken wrap. Really liked their bread though, and the portions are filling with great value for money. I ordered their bites box with falafel and chipotle sauce. I ordered online about 1hr before the scheduled pickup time and went straight to their store around the time. At around 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, there were about 5 people in-line waiting for their order. Seems for them most orders come from delivery apps because I kept seeing Uber eats order coming in on their screens. There are places to sit down and eat but they are definitely more of a takeout/delivery restaurant. There are also some machines inside so you can place an order without going to the counter. Unfortunately my food was somehow mistook by people came before me. But when they learned about it they quickly prepared a new order for me on the spot in ~5min without any problem. I was slightly disappointed but again this is not really their fault. But maybe don't place your order way too ahead The food was amazing. It's my first time trying falafel shawarma wraps and fell in love immediately. Slightly disappointed because unlike the picture online, my order did not come in a box but just regular plastic bowl, with fries on the top and wraps on the bottom. One of the bearded guys that work here started stalking me as I was leaving and followed me to my car. He confronted me and started yelling at me for no reason. I just went to the Queen and Spadina location in Toronto and was blown away. My husband, son and I thought the customer service was above and beyond. They were just so friendly and helpful! The restaurant was clean and welcoming. Most importantly though, the food was absolutely delicious!!! We all had different menu items and each one of us agreed it was the best shawarma we'd ever tasted. We will be back for sure!! read more

The portions are insulting. I've tried the "legendary" bowl three times now and the third was the last time. Supposedly it's a "double" serving of protein, but each time, the amount of chicken has been a quarter (at most!) of what you'd get in a regular platter at any other restaurant, and at twice the price. I never thought I'd be the kind of person who posts a review of a restaurant - this is the first time I've even been tempted, and it's because of what a consistent absolute rip-off this place is.
