I wanted to find a local mechanic and build a relation ship to do maintenance work and a few other items that I wanted to do with the car The reviews of Billy's seemed pretty good and he's close to where I live. I went there last week met with the office manager told they what I was looking for. They said to come back next week after a certain time and he'll be able to meet with you. Went there today as instructed even though it was overcast and a slight drizzling rain. Keep in mind it's never seen rain the vehicle. But I figured it'll be worth it. It'll be a short meeting just merely an introduction describing what I want to do with the car and see if you'd be interested and available to work on it. I was prepared if he said he had no time for me and that would've been fine. I know how these shops can be. I met with office manager. They said it was a kind of a bad morning. I was working on a car. They went back and asked him when they came back. They said have a seat and I'll come out as soon as you can. Sat there for over an hour with my car getting rained on. Eventually just left. If they're not available to meet with you after requesting you to show up at a certain day and time there's just no value having that person as your mechanic as good as they may be or not. Office manager should've just said right off the bat. It's not a good time. I apologize and just reschedule for another time. Would've been a much more of a professional answer and I would not have had a problem with that. I'm a contractor. I know how things go sideways. My recommendation is if you're a first time client trying to get in and build a relationship and have work done. I would say Hard Pass. He's a very established automotive shop probably does a good job and it looks like he has a large client list and literally has things booked out a year and a half. If an owner doesn't have five minutes to break away for a quick meet and greet that was planned. I can only imagine what the whole service experience would be like and it's one that I'm not interested in. An unfortunate experience but was kind of expected, trying to find a good reliable mechanic capable of doing the work I was looking to do and also having the time to take me on as a new client. If anyone has any other references for other shops like Billy's I would appreciate any references

I set up an appointment for 11 am today. He completed the work in 1 hour and showed me the worn parts. Cost of parts for Left and Right Tie Rod ends was $100. Front wheel alignment after replacement was $90. Labor for installation was $50. Total after tax was $246. Very reasonably priced compared to other quotes for this work from other car repair shops. I will definitely consider STEP ONE for future car repairs!

They are honest and truly care about their customers treating each one like family. They accept credit cards, have seats if you have to wait and have a convenience shop full of yummy snacks. They give back to the community through many selfless acts that most businesses just wouldn't do. Without writing a novel...one instance that stands out was when most of the state was stranded without power for 3 days many years back...the owner the this shop literally siphoned gas out of the ground ro help people get home. I would very highly recommend this shop for the great work that they do and the wonderful ethics that they have.

I recently had a rather fast leaking tire on a Saturday afternoon, I called them a little after 3:00 and was told the mechanic was walking out the door. I told them I was at Somerset and asked if he could wait for me and he did! I was expecting it to take days to get to it, diagnose, order parts, install, etc. Imagine my surprise when they called me within an hour to explain their diagnosis. The price was very fair so I gave them the go-ahead to replace catalytic converters and O2 sensors. They called me back about an hour later to let me know it was done! On top of that, they didn't throw parts at it and ended up saving me another $500 by testing the O2 sensors and determining they were still fine. This was ~25% of the final bill and they could have easily told me it was needed. I appreciate their quick, accurate, and honest work. I will definitely be back!
