This particular Arco station is located in a roundabout way off of the freeway, but situated close to a neighborhood. It makes it convenient for everyone that either lives close by, or is traveling, and in need of stopping for gas and getting back on the highway quickly. Arco is usually not my go to, but I was on my way from Sacramento out of town, and realized I needed gas. I like the fact that the station is clean. In fact, it's pretty spotless. As I pulled up to the pump, I decided I was going to use my credit card to pay for gas. For whatever reason, the pump wasn't accepting credit cards. I walked inside, stood in line, and then I handed the cashier my credit card and gave her the pump number. She mediately told me that the station was not excepting credit cards. I asked how people were paying for gas and she said either cash or straight debit. I asked if this was a normal occurrence or if that's their standard policy. She said that's their standard policy. This left me slightly confused because I've never known a gas station to not take a credit card. Their respective pumps all state to use a credit card or debit card. Of course, they also accept cash. Walking back over to pump gas into the car, I grabbed my debit card, I proceeded to fill the tank, while reading all the stickers on the gas pump. Adding insult to injury, Arco is one of the few if not only, gas stations that charge an additional amount of money for using a debit card. So not accepting a credit card, made me feel like it was the gas stations attempt at making a few extra cents from their customers. Arco really needs to look at establishing better customer service. If they no longer in fact accept credit cards, then they need to notate that throughout the station. Their gas pumps all indicate credit or debit. I guess they figured out people don't often carry cash, since gas is so expensive these days.

The gas prices are reasonable, and the pump area is spacious, so it's not difficult to maneuver around other cars. The store was welcoming and well-stocked with all kinds of snacks, goodies, and convenience items. There's a little restaurant inside serving hot food, which looked and smelled really good. Restroom was clean and properly stocked, and service was kind and friendly. I wound up bookmarking this location because it was such a pleasant experience!

I have noticed that the gas pumps are having more issues, sometimes the pump won't register my card and I have to loop around to a new pump- my card is fine the readers just go out? When they're not randomly not working there's often at least one pump that has the out of order bags on it. Inside the slurpy machine and drink machines have been much more hit and miss. Often they're out of certain cups, lids, the machines are down, the area is a mess, or you grab a soda and it does not taste right. I've gotten to the point where I only buy bottled drinks here because I've been disappointed by their fancy machines (that I was initially so excited about). Like I mentioned at the start, the staff has always been friendly but it's starting to decline in cleanliness, organization, and overall experience. I hope ownership/management gives this store some attention and can work on consistency and quality again.

Diesel fuel is so sketchy in California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas as it is - I don't want to drive around with the worst of the worst. My hot take on it is that these are states where the EPA took over... and so the fuel itself is worse for your vehicle in these states and better for the environment.

Because of ongoing issues with homeless stealing, On the issue of the employee was rude. 99% of the time, it goes like this. A customer walks up to the window and asks , "Let me get a water and a candy bar." In which we have to play detective. Ok ma'am, which candy bar would you like, what size and how meny. The same goes for the water. What brand of water would you like, what size and how meny? No one says let me get a 20oz water or a one liter it's always a small, medium, or large. I do not mean to sound rude, but we are not mind readers and can not guess what size water you want or so saying like me get a soda is not enough information for us to assistant you for the best possible out come. 3rd we clean and clean this store. When you have most customers over filling their cups of soda and spilling them, the floor get dirty very fast in a matter of about minutes along with high foot traffic it's hard to the floor spotless. You can pull in two ways as it's on the corner across from Walgreens. You can pay at the pump which is a total plus. The old AMPM you have to go inside to pay which really bugs me. I like the pay at the pump. The handle to let if fill while you remove your hand doesn't always work and I try to avoid that one at the far end, but that isn't always the case as it's luck of the draw to which one is open when you arrive. It's a pretty busy gas station so there can be a wait to get to a pump. It's never way too long, but when the person in front of you wants to pay inside and get a drink while there it can be a bit of a wait.

However, this visit, I had my free rewards for a soda through the Loop app, and the employee did not know how to scan it. He did not seem very happy trying to help me. Since my account had money left, I had him scan my member barcode instead, but he didn't know how to do that either, so I just ended up paying for the soda. My friends have not had issues at other Shell locations with their Loop app. Although I don't have a problem paying for my drink, I wish they knew how to use their own rewards app.
