What began as a one-night stay quickly turned into three and even then, it was hard to leave. The house is impeccably clean, and our room had so many thoughtful touches, such as chocolates, tea, and hot chocolate waiting for us. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and Pauline made sure we were familiar with how to use the shower. Our ground-floor room overlooked her blooming garden, a lovely, peaceful view to wake up to each morning. During our visit, the house was being reroofed due to storm damage, yet Pauline made sure the roofers didn't start too early so we wouldn't be disturbed. That attention to detail speaks volumes about the care she puts into her guests' experience. The breakfasts were truly exceptional - completely bespoke, with anything you want prepared just the way you like it. Enjoying a delicious meal served on crystal, china, and silver while gazing out over the lough felt like such a treat - elegant, relaxing, and deeply satisfying. An amazing way to start each day! Pauline goes above and beyond to help with anything you might want to do in the area. Whether it's arranging tea at the Merchant Hotel or booking tours of the Titanic exhibit, she takes care of it with enthusiasm and efficiency. Her recommendations of local businesses made our trip so much easier and she even arranged to have our laundry done! Her husband, Ambrose, is also a delight--charming, insightful, and a pleasure to chat with. Leaving Hargreaves House felt like saying goodbye to family. Both my granddaughter and I felt an immediate connection, as though we'd known Pauline and Ambrose for years. We left with full hearts and wonderful memories. We can't wait to return!

My Mum recently organised a reunion for her old work colleagues and this involved arranging…read moreaccommodation for her travelling guests, they had two main requests, they wanted serenity and comfort. With a whole host of hotels and guest houses in North Down meeting their requests was not a going to be a problem. My Mum enlisted my help to scour the internet, travel brochures and the local paper for somewhere suitable. But it was in fact driving home one night that signalled the end of our search. We chose Pinecroft Guest House primarily because of its location, it was within walking distance from the seaside and village amenities but also far enough away that my our guests could feel complete solitude. The guests finally arrived and felt right at home at Pinecroft B & B, they were put at ease by May Boyd who is the proprietor. One morning they even explained the reason for there visit and May encouraged them to invite us over for breakfast. Who could refuse such an offer? The breakfast was superb, everything you would expect from a great hostess. The house had a traditional country feel to it, the type of place you could you felt comfortable walking around in your bare feet as if it were your own home. The guests raved about the hotel and our search was not in vain.

The house itself is a lovely Irish farmhouse that is probably hundreds of years old. The inside of the house has been totally remodeled to retain the classic look but with modern amenities. The outside is surrounded by vast farmland with a hedge defining the inner yard and gardens. An Irish farm outbuilding sits out back but it too has been remodeled into living space. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, yogurt, and a plate of eggs and bacon or salmon. There was more than enough to eat and the breakfast tasted really good. It is for all these reasons that I give Edenvale a five star rating.
