Our room included two bedrooms, one bath with plenty of space and air conditioning in both bedrooms. The breakfast spread was fresh with many choices of pastries, eggs, meat and cheeses and we ordered specialty coffee. The beautiful property, prime location and wonderful experiences make this a wonderful and grand place but what truly makes this a special Grand Hotel is the amazing staff led by their General Manager, Mr.. CINQUE TERRE, ITALY LA TORRETTA LODGE - MANOROLA…read more UP FRONT: When you visit Cinque Terre in Italy, (literally "five lands"), you have five choices on where to stay out of the five fishing villages. If you're like most tourists, you're going to visit all of them, but one has to be your "home base". After visiting all of them, I think your best bet is either Manorola or Monterosso. The scenery in both places is astounding. Manorola is small and quiet and has some cliffs you can dive off at the bottom of the hill. Monterosso is a bit more sprawling and has a good stretch of beach. We stayed in Manorola two nights. Got the tip about La Torretta on Trip Advisor. This hotel is a dream. From start to finish, it felt too good to be true. Check in was a breeze - it was only us in the lobby - and we sipped Prosecco on the patio while the front desk copied our passports and finished up the paper work. Our room #7 was at the very top with the most breathtaking view (see photo). Bed was very comfortable, and the bathtub (we didn't use it) is literally the biggest I've ever seen - HUGE. No problems with the room - temperature control was good, mini-bar was complimentary. Be aware there is no phone in the room, and if you need something, you need to go down the steps to the office or call down from the window as you see the hotel staff moving about the property. lol. I did that once, we needed towels for the room, but no phone, so I just called out to the maid while I was standing on the balcony. It worked. The hotel sits on top of the hill. You walk down the hill to all the shops and restaurants. There's everything you need, ATM machine, train station, pharmacy, and more. At the bottom of the hill is the ocean, no beach, but there are places where you can lay out and many people do. There's also swimming allowed and the water is so cold and refreshing. You can dive in from many areas, and climb to the cliffs where you will be afraid to jump, but do it, it's so much fun. It took me 15 minutes to get enough courage to get off the cliff, but with the encouragement of fellow cliff divers, I was able to do it. Kept going back up to the top to do it again. There's breakfast in the mornings, all kinds of goodies - meats and cheeses, croissants, pastries and of course coffee. The hotel staff work hard to make sure you have everything you need. But keep in mind, they are not at the front desk 24/7. They close at 9:30 PM and they weren't clear about that when we checked in - neither did they say there was no phone in room. When we left, we were taking a train at the bottom of the hill, and they brought our luggage down with a golf cart. All the good things that have been said in the reviews are true - nothing hyped up about this place. Worth every dollar we spent on the room. Coming in on the offseason, we were still greated by a concierge who met us at the bottom of the mountain, and drove us up to the wonderful views that Manarolla had to offer. We checked in, but before that, we were given gifts of food and champagne to celebrate our arrival there. The view was outstanding, and the hosts were more than generous. They talked with us about where we had been, where we were coming from in the United States, and also about what else we had planned. To top off how great of a stay we had... they gave us an upgrade to the honeymoon suite for free! The room was absolutely gorgeous! A giant tub in the room, fiberoptic lights in the ceiling, and a gorgeous breakfast spread for nothing?!? It was amazing. To truly make it, what it was... as much as everyone always wants to be connected to the world... I was glad that I could not get any wifi at the hotel. It was nice to finally be away from everything, and not to be bothered by anything or anyone. We were left alone... to be alone. Waking up and taking in the view from our hotel room left us enjoying the beautiful views of the sea. Not to mention a nice little gift of bottle of champagne that was waiting for us once we got back from visiting the rest of Cinque Terra area.... as the concierge said... "Just because" I would recommend this place to ANYONE visiting the area... it is a little pricey, however I can tell you that the service is top notch, and well worth the euro's in my book.

Throughout our five day visit, the owners and staff were there to answer any questions and/or offer guidance in purchasing train tickets or recommending restaurants. The service was second to none. The breakfasts in the morning were plentiful, homemade, and delicious. The views from the breakfast balcony and our room (Number 5) were nothing less than breathtaking. The room and hotel property was spotless; the grounds well taken care of with lemon, orange, and olive trees with fragrant flowers. The hotel's proximity to the old town is ideal for walking and for getting to the train and/or ferry for excursions. My husband and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a top shelf experience in one of the most magical places in the world. So serene, you can't help but relax. Everything was immaculate. Our lovely room was tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed, a desk & chair, a large wardrobe that held all of our things, a refrigerator, and our own balcony where we sat every morning & evening enjoying the beautiful view of the town & the sea. They have thought of every convenience from welcoming snacks in the refrigerator to printouts & helpful tips about the area. Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner & body wash. A hair dryer is provided. Ample plugins. After a long day of hiking, a refreshing shower & cooling air conditioning was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was set on the main balcony with an option to eat indoors. It was so delicious with everything you could want - bacon & eggs, fresh juices, meats & cheeses, yogurt & granola, fresh fruit, and delicious homemade desserts every day. (The lemon tart was my favorite) Matteo made it so easy for us to purchase a discounted Cinque Terre card that included the trains & a reservation for Via dell'Amore. He was very helpful about the ferry schedule - it is a short walk to catch the ferry. Ask about Restaurant recommendations - (Galin was our favorite). Everyone is so kind & helpful with such great service - even filling your water bottles with ice & water for your hikes, towels for the beach, and quick, reasonable laundry service. And don't miss Carla's fantastic Pesto Cooking Class! It was such fun & so delicious to eat after we made it. We even got the recipes. Make sure to reserve your spot. While the hotel is up a small, steep hill, we were able to walk up pulling our wheeled carryon luggage without a problem. The hotel will arrange a taxis for you from the train station if needed. They also have car parking, which is rare. Once at the hotel, you can walk through the lovely lemon grove down some steps arriving right on the main street of Old Town. The best of both - scenic quiet hillside, yet still in town. There is a small beach in Old Town and also just a 10 -15 minute walk to New Town beaches. Easy walk to the train station and the trails. The hospitality and location are the best you will experience, well worth the price. We stayed 4 glorious nights & I hated to leave. I feel Carla & Matteo are our dear friends now. They made us love Cinque Terre even more and we will not stay anywhere but Hotel Villa Steno! More Date of stay: June 2026

Don't expect big American style rooms and TV sets- because this is Italy! Everything is smaller here because there is less space for everything! But Hotel Dany is BIG in many ways: amazingly helpful and such friendly staff, super clean rooms, very comfy beds, towel warmer, aircon/heat, bar fridge, full size dressing mirrors and there's even a phone in the bathroom! Hotel provided parking next to the building. Nice bar in reception area. But read to the end: breakfast with absolutely amazing variety is so beautifully presented! Italian pastries, including breads, croissants and home made cake, fresh cheeses, not just a couple- but choose from half a dozen different kinds, same with the honey. Not one kind out of a plastic squeeze bottle. No, seven different kinds in neatly arranged glass jars representing the whole of Italy and various flavors. Fresh fruit salad, a large variety of cereal, even gluten free, parma ham and other cold meats. You might like salmon for breakfast? It's there. Eggs and bacon cooked to your preference. The coffee had to be Italian, it was soo good. Everything was served with the warmest smile. Would I recommend this amazing little hotel? Only to my best friends, not everyone, cause I'd want to have a room available next time I come to stay.

Spectacular Coastal Location, Good Alternative to Staying in the Cinque Terre…read more Much recommended, this hotel is directly on the beachfront in San Terenzo, and a short walk from Lerici, another beautiful seaside setting just south of the better-known (and sadly, overcrowded) towns of the Cinque Terre. There are several hotels in San Terenzo/Lerici but this is the only one on the beach side of the roadway and may be the main reason it is rated 4 stars instead of 3. Our large balcony had an unimpeded view of the sea, the crescent of the beach, and charming town of San Terenzo. The room was spacious but not luxurious, the breakfast was good, and the view was unmatched. There are many good restaurants, nice beaches, and a lovely walkway between the two towns of San Terenzo and Lerici. For us, it was a wonderful way to decompress. From Lerici you can take a short scenic boat ride to Portovenere where you can also catch another boat to the Cinque Terre. On the way to San Terenzo from Milan, when the train passed through the railway stops for the Cinque Terre, the platforms were mobbed (they have recently had accidents). Sadly, the Cinque Terre has become too well known and is overwhelmed by tourists.
