Shelly is an experienced realtor, savvy, extremely persistent and has built up an amazing team who can help with every aspect of home selling and buying. In managing the sale of our family home (built by our father 50 years ago), Shelly managed perfectly what needed to be done to maximize the sale value. Sure, we could have renovated the kitchen completely... but if I were the buyer, I'd want to knock down walls and pick my own cabinetry. Didn't make sense to invest significantly in something that could be undone, but wanted the place presented as modern as possible. Shelly worked with a team to paint the cabinetry, replace the formica with quartz, swap out the one remaining original appliance, and replace the flooring. The second 60s era colored bathroom porcelains (sinks, tub) were reglazed white. Her team replaced all the doors and knobs; installed new flooring, relocated a bathroom door to a different wall (fixing a serious feng shui issue), repainted the interior and exterior walls, painted the reddish brick fireplace, turned the picket fence from brownish to the proverbial white, and painted the front door a bright inviting color. Her stager transformed the space beautifully, making what could've been an odd layout make sense. What really counts these days is how your property is presented online. I cannot recommend Shelly Potvin highly enough. She convinced us to partially stage our home and to paint with multiple colors - something I would never have considered as I am not brave enough. Shelly and her stager made all the selections for us while we were attending to my ailing mother in San Diego. She also arranged all the inspections necessary. We came back after a week to find a house we didn't recognize. It was stunning. Shelly bird-dogged all the contractors, and we had a house with new paint; new kitchen, laundry room, and master bathroom tile floors; the fixtures in the bathrooms had been modernized and upgraded; the new carpet looks great. She herself took down our old lighting fixtures and selected new fixtures that really made the place shine. She paid for all this, and we just reimbursed her when she gave us the receipts. The scheduling and running of the two-day Open House went off like a dream. People also flooded in "on appointment." In the terribly sad and unfortunate situation of my Mom passing, Shelly literally took me by the hand and was with me every step of the way. My family home had been with us for over 40 years. It was well kept but terribly dated. Being sensitive to my feelings, Shelly made excellent suggestions to update and rejuvenate the property. We met Shelly while walking through a house she was showing one Saturday in 2002. The next day we viewed a house we loved. The problem was it was a Sunday, we did not have a real estate agent, we had not been pre-approved (we really were not intending to buy a house yet), and they were taking bids that Tue night and making a decision by Wed. We had liked Shelly so much the day before when we met her, that we gave her a call. She blew us away with the action she took in the next 24 hours. She had us talking to a mortgage broker on a SUNDAY (we have used that person 3 times now), we were pre-approved by end of day Mon in time to work with Shelly on a bid which was handed in Tue, and we soon owned our first home. We basically did the same thing when we upgraded to our second home and Shelly performed the same. We not only use her as our agent, but we also have used numerous recommendations from her for things like a flooring expert, and like her mortgage consultant recommendation, she is always spot on. If someone she recommends does not return a call within like 24 hours, she is totally on it and we get an immediate response. Even when she is only making a recommendation she stays involved until she knows that we are satisfied customers.
