We sold and bought a house with Michael Galli and his team and the experience was terrific !! Let's start with the selling. We had interviewed two realtors before Michael, while both were competent and I am sure they would have done a reasonable job, they were missing the spark of enthusiasm and excitement of someone who truly loves their job and is great at it. The afternoon I called Michael he came immediately the same day. His enthusiasm for the job was infectious, he came up with a list of changes which would improve the house value. Clearing up the front yard, replanting grass in the back and the front yard. What flowers to put. What fencing to put, what interior / exterior paints to use which will resonate with most buyers. What lights etc. In a period of days and at a reasonable cost they were done and the house looked much better. Michael has a team working with him listing agent, contractors, land scapers, custodians, operations manager, stagers all of whom are super quick at their job and their vendors are all very reliable. The listing agent Bri apart from other things did a wonderful intro video to the house. The custodian Mani did a wonderful job in keeping the house amazingly spotless clean and did a lot of innumerable things like cleaning the hot tub, naming all the fruit trees, making a drawing in the chalkboard in the kids bedroom. Ola did a lot of day to day communication. She was on top of any message and had an amazing fast turn around time given any requirement. The proof of the pudding was in the selling. It was on the market for less than a week and we sold the house above our initial expectations.They kept everything in stellar condition till close and we closed on time. Won't think twice before hiring them again for the next time I have to sell. Coming to the buy side. Michael has a nose for what to look for in a house. Maybe houses which looked good to us Michael gave us sound reasons why it may not be great to live in however good it looks, and has all the bells and whistles. We zeroed in on a house which fit all our requirements and his team did a great job in understanding the demand and the pricing. Even post purchase Michael and team have very helpful advice on things which can be improved before moving in and also help us find the right vendors for the improvements we are making. We just closed on the home we were selling and I HAVE to update my review with more reasons to go with Galliteam if you are buying OR selling. In terms of buying, it's critical that your team: - has excellent communicators to respond quickly to the sellers' agent - there can be a lot of back-and-forth in a multiple bid situation. - has a financial and documents guru like Jan Vargas to make sure your paperwork is entirely in order - it's a lot of documents and Jan is on top of everything. AND she is so kind when you ask her to send the same document three times! - understands the fluctuating market conditions to help you put in a bid most likely to get you the home. Michael has an encyclopedic knowledge of the comps in our area and a long-term view of how things change. In terms of selling, I again can't recommend Galli team enough. Jessamyn Sexauer led the selling team for us and she was absolutely amazing. Our complicated situation threw us a few curveballs and Jessamyn handled every single twist with compassion, professionalism, and sound advice. She stayed on top of the contractors and the HOA and had great recommendations for outside help when the situation required it. She assured us that even the situations that seemed stressful were a not uncommon part of the process and that everything would be okay in the end. And it was so much better than okay! Our home looked amazing, their marketing materials were even better than we expected, and our open house had a lot of buzz and great turnout. I've worked with several top buyer and seller agents in Mountain View and Los Altos, and the Galli team is in a category of their own - far exceeding expectations. We worked with the team for 4 months and closed on our dream house! 4/30/2024 update: Nine months after asking to stop getting mailings (and the review below)... guess what's in my mailbox? A flier from Michael Galli! Written 7/23/2023: Just the other day I received a flier promoting the Galli Team. We moved out of California several weeks ago and to the best or my recollection I have not spoken with Michael Galli since 2008. I have no idea how he got my new address. We worked with Michael Galli in 2007 when he was a mortgage broker, shortly before that big mortgage crisis and recession. Michael is the main character in an anecdote I tell at parties. As first-time home buyers, we asked repeated questions about how ARM loans work, what exactly happens when you hit the transition from the first rate to the next... and he repeatedly gave us vague answers. We eventually looked it up, and the answer was a significant jump in the interest rate and monthly payments, because the two interest rates are tied to different indices. I also remember him pointing out that we could borrow twice as much as the loan we were seeking. My party story is that our experience with Michael Galli illustrates how less number-savvy borrowers might have taken out the sorts of loans that precipitated the mortgage crisis. I don't know whether Michael was uninformed or what, but I was never comfortable with his business practice. Upon receiving Michael's recent flier 9 days ago, I sent email to the address on the flier and have received no response. We live in another country, and we asked neighbors on our California road to recommend a real estate agent. 3 separate neighbors recommended the Galli team, and we now understand why. They couldn't have done more for us. Initially they provided us with all the information we needed and then some. My wife and I were first-time buyers and the process of buying a house was too overwhelming for us at the beginning. We felt like it would be very confusing and hectic but Michael Galli and his team made the whole thing smooth and easy for us. We interviewed four other agents and we chose his team. One of the things that was unique about Micheal was that he had a team of experts. Each one took care of parts of the work. We found that they were always available and covered for each other. The team was especially very quick and responsive when it came down to bidding. Initially, we had a very broad criteria and we didn't know exactly what we wanted, but Micheal helped us to narrow it down and focus our search. He and his team showed us many places to give us the feeling and pros and cons of different homes and neighborhoods. They mentioned both negative and positive aspects of each house to help us understand the trade offs. We started the process in October 2019 when the market was cooling down because of holidays. Several months ago I asked my boss if he knew any good real estate agents in the Mountain View area. He immediately recommended his previous agent, Michael Galli, telling me he couldn't have expected any more from an agent. Fast forward two months - I've just completed the purchase of a home in Los Altos, and I must say Michael and his team exceeded even my highest expectations. Michael just streamlines the process of buying a home. He has contractors and designers on retainer to help figure out renovation costs. See a house you like but you're unsure of the renovation costs? He calls his contractor within minutes for an assessment and has him onsite in a few hours or a day for a full quote. That made it super easy to move fast on our property (and discard a bunch of duds due to high renovation costs). Michael is also super detail-oriented when it comes to evaluating the pros and cons of a property. He will walk through and around a property and instantly rattle off ten (significant!) problems that I wouldn't have noticed myself. This also saved me from making offers on a bunch of properties that to my untrained eye looked good. His knowledge of the various neighborhoods and streets was encyclopedic. And the guy was available at all hours of the day and night for discussions about properties, etc. I ask tons of questions and I never once felt like Michael was annoyed by me. He was as kind and helpful from the first day to closing. When it came time to make an offer, Michael engaged with the other agent to understand the number of expected offers and gauge an expected winning price. He adjusted his offer proposal to me several times as he got more information in the days just before the seller took offers (potential buyers dropped off at the last minute). Ultimately Michael's offer was just high enough to win the propery, but low enough so as to disappoint the other agent... I feel like I literally couldn't have gotten the property at a lower cost. He threaded the needle. Finally, while Michael and his team were great agents (in a professional sense), I must also say that as a person, Michael is truly a good soul - he's honest and authentic, and as thoughtful as can be. We've been looking for a dream house and found one, all thanks to this team! From the very first moment we had started interacting with Michael and his team, it's been fantastic experience! I can't say enough good things about him and his team. It was a late Saturday night when I came across a Redfin listing of a house we real liked, however we had no agent and we were in rush to make an offer. I did some research and found great reviews of Michael's team and decided to give it a shot. I sent an email and within minutes (despite late hour) he responded and put his team on top of the things. In just a few days we made our first offer. Michael deeply cares about making sure that you end up buying a house that you feel happy about rather than pushing you into a bad choice. His honesty and transparency is something we very much appreciated and have enjoyed working with him and his team. It builds trust and at the end of the day you know you are working with the right people. He is the first to point all downsides and he is so honest about it. During our first offer, he advised us against bidding too high because of a risk of not getting the right appraisal. Buying a home in the bay area is stressful, to say the least. My friends and I are an unusual group (yes, a group) that put Michael and his team through their paces. Over the last few months we must have seen fifty properties and made many bids. I'm happy to say that Michael and his team are incredible. They really are a full-fledged team; we've gotten to know Michael, Heather, Jan, Steve, and Jay really well. It is incredibly useful to have so many people in such hectic times - there is ALWAYS someone available, whether it is to answer a quick question, to discuss strategy, to understand how much repairs XYZ would cost, or to arrange a last minute viewing of a house. Michael has an encyclopedic knowledge of most of the areas we looked in. Many times we'd bring him to see a house and he'd point at another one on the same block and say he sold/bought it just a few months ago. He has a really great gut instinct when it comes to guessing how much the house will go for, and he'll let you know what his guess is. In this crazy market, a guide of his expertise is critical. I appreciated that his gut instinct was to lowball it; I never once felt like he was trying to get us to overbid. He's also very honest when it comes to giving opinions; he's talked us out of bidding on several homes. Jan writes up all the offers, goes over the paperwork with you.
