It's usually very easy to get an appointment same day or same week at this location. As long as you have all your paperwork together, they get you right in and out. Today I actually had to do a replacement drivers license since I lost mine in an airport across the country and they were very gracious and nice and professional, and I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. My license was up for renewal in a month so it was just done altogether and with the credit card fee it was $141 for eight years for an enhanced drivers license. The gentleman who helped me today was absolutely awesome unfortunately I don't remember his name but he's the guy from Brooklyn, New York. He was so funny and so friendly and fast and professional, and I was having an awful day, but he turned my day around, so I don't often give a government agency five stars but today this one more than earned it! I went in & out of the site several times trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong (I wasn't - a friend had the same problem yesterday.) and then it locked me out. Today (7/10) I arrived at the office a 1/2 hour before it opened and was 10th in line. However, an employee came out & said we needed to hold our phones up to a barcode and check in. I was still locked out and couldn't check in. This employee was pleasant but there was only 1 of her and dozens of people who needed help. About 50 people who came after me were served before I could get checked in and the woman inside at the first chair to check people in was totally, absolutely nasty. She told me my appt wasn't confirmed (pretty sure she spelled my name wrong) and to go back to the other woman (although there was no one in line behind me and she could have helped me). While waiting in line yet again I found the code I needed and went back to show it to the nasty woman. She didn't speak to me at all until I pointedly asked my status & she snarled I was confirmed. (It may have been a racial thing.) I then asked her several times if they would call my name or notify me it was my turn on my phone and she snarled at me, refused to answer me and eventually told me to go ask the other woman who had more than a dozen people in line. The woman who had started out nice was then very condescending and said they "wouldn't not call me name." Actually, they don't call your name and there's a confusing reader board that says they are "serving" people they are not serving on one side of the board and on the other side of the board your number will flash for a second and then leave the screen. It was horrible and ridiculous! It was much better when you went, got a # and were called when it was your turn. The woman at the first carrel who tested my eyes and did the paperwork was the exception and was very pleasant.

I had an appointment to update my EDL as I realized it expired next year on my birthday (in early April, when I'll be out of the country). I looked online and they had multiple same-day appointments or ones roughly 3 weeks out, so I decided to do a same-day appointment about an hour and half later. I grabbed all my documents (I ended up not needed them since I already had my EDL and was just renewing but it was unclear based on the DOL website), then headed to Kent. My appt was at 10:45 but I showed up at 10:37. I checked in via text, then walked in. The front desk worker confirmed that it was indeed me and I did indeed check in online, then directed me to the waiting area. My number was called roughly 90 seconds later, and then I was able to get my eyes checked, take my picture, and confirm my information within the next couple minutes. I was back out at my car to leave at 10:42, before the time of my actual appointment. Huge shout out to the main representative I worked with, Ashley, who was kind, efficient, and fun in an environment that is typically perceived as none of those things. She also had the cutest pink keyboard and was a great representation of the WA DOL.

At that time, they were at #360. The numbers were being called randomly at times for Walk-Ins and Appointments, so had to keep an eye on the monitor for the number and ding sound. The PA system or volume was so low you could hardly hear anything. Was sitting in the waiting area for over an hour. Got called up at 10:45 AM. Shared my required documents (Mail with Name and Home Address on it, a valid U.S. Passport) and current Driver's License. The lady who assisted me was very friendly and helpful. She was knowledgeable and provided adequate details and information about what the Real ID is included with - Radio Frequency Identification) technology, a unique identifier to confirm the authenticity of the ID. After verifying my information on the screen, she took a photo of me and requested the payment. It was only $21.00 since my current driver's license doesn't expire until 2027, so have to wait until 2026 to renew it for an additional 8-year one since it has to be within a year or less until your Driver's License expires to be able to get the extended one. Thanked the nice lady and exited the DMV. It was a good experience, overall... The waiting period was as expected, so be aware of that when you visit... Also, there aren't enough parking spaces close by during peak times, so you might have to park in the back or across the street.

I show up with my brother who needed a walk in and couldn't get an appointment until the 28th of July, the lady assisting the arrivals proceeded to say that they don't allow walk ins anymore. This was clearly odd seeing as I was here just 2 days ago and they had a very long line of walk in customers. I was called a liar by the lady and this could have been avoided by simply saying she didn't know anything about that but to call me liar just because she works there all day and didn't know I was in a walk in line for 30 min that week is rude and unprofessional. Also they no longer do drivers test here only at Lakewood. I recommend going to a drivers school for your testing as to avoid being booked out a month or more.
