We brought our car in for a brake issue. While working on the brakes, they told us it needed a steering repair and new tires. We picked up the car and scheduled a time for the steering repair. The repair was supposed to take a coupls of days, they had the car for several weeks. I left a message for them to quote me tires while they had it, so we could possibly get they done while it was there. There seems to have been a change in front desk staff, the previous guy was also super friendly and helpful. The new person acts like he's miserable every time you call. He stated he didn't get my message but could work up a quote for tires. I didn't get the quote until I called to pay for the steering repair. We found cheaper tires somewhere else, had them delivered to the shop and scheduled a third visit in a month. The front desk person told us to bring it back the following Monday at 11 and they would put the tires on. While I was on the pone with him I told him the brake light has been on ever since they fixed the brakes, the power washing fluid container has also been leaking since they repared the steering. My husband took it in at 11, as requested and was told they thought we were going to drop it off. The front desk guy went to the back and talk to the garage staff, my husband could hear him cursing and complaining about us bringing the car in and not dropping it off. Then, my husband mentioned the brake light and he said we'd have to make another appointment. Our car has been in the garage for nearly a month and still is not completely fix. Every time we call to ask a questions, the guy at the front desk has an attitude of he doesn't want to speack to anyone, and our questions are not answered. I have never experienced this at this garage, but it is enough that we are considering a new gagrage.

When I arrived, Steve said he had it put on a lift and they "discovered" that all of the pipes and joints were so rusty, that he was afraid that when he started cutting into it, that basically the entire undercarriage would have to be replaced : large rear muffler, large front muffler, the small muffler we spoke about, ALL the piping and "probably more". I asked how much and was told "at least $1200". They said they'd order the parts for the next day. When I left, I could hear odd knocking on the bottom and the smell of exhaust in the front cabin that wasn't there before, or ever. I called back the next day to report this and was blown off with "ma'am, you have an exhaust leak and the knocking you are hearing is because you probably drove over something". I knew then they were not on the up and up, so I played along and asked if my parts came in. They said yes, all but one. I asked what they were missing and was told "a part". He kept saying "just a part" but would not tell me WHAT part. Finally I was forceful and told him I needed the name of "the part". . Steve finally said, the Catalytic Converter. Horses***!. He said I needed that too. Tack on another several hundred dollars, plus labor. Scammers! I took it somewhere else the next morning, and the only thing it needed was the muffler, parts & labor $95. I've heard of stories like this, but, wow, the level of deception was criminal.

If you're already dealing with the stress of a car accident, the last thing you need is a shop that adds more stress, confusion, and pressure to an already difficult time. Here's exactly what happened: I chose Hugh's Body Shop after getting several quotes. On the surface, their shop looked clean and professional, and although they were the most expensive, I figured quality would justify the price. Unfortunately, that assumption could not have been more wrong. From the beginning, I explained clearly that I wanted to keep costs down by handling all the interior work myself -- things like reinstalling the seats, airbags, seat belts, and trim. I only needed them to handle the door and corner of the cab. The quote I was given was high but still within reason, so I agreed and scheduled a drop-off date about a month out. After dropping off my truck, communication and timelines completely fell apart. A job that was supposed to take a couple of weeks turned into months. Every time I checked in, I was told "just a little longer," but progress was always delayed. When I finally went to pick up my truck, I was shocked to find a significant upcharge added to the original agreed-upon price. When I questioned it, Jared reviewed the charges and admitted to me that I had a point -- so he initially agreed I could pay the original quoted amount. But when I handed him the check, he refused to give me my keys unless I paid the extra balance. That kind of behavior -- holding my property until I paid more than we agreed on -- felt like bullying and intimidation. I was stunned and just wanted my vehicle back, so I reluctantly paid the additional amount. The justification for the extra charge was "additional frame time." But I had personally measured and photographed my truck's frame before leaving it with them, and when I got it back, nothing was different except a bit of spray paint. On top of that, there were new issues with my truck that were not part of the original damage. Jared told me in person that he'd fix those, but when I followed up by phone, he refused. This experience left me extremely disappointed and concerned for others. What looks like a reputable business seems to be run by someone unprofessional, dishonest, and unwilling to stand by their word. Please -- learn from my mistake.
