This was a great place to stay! $13-$18 a night with water and electricity is an amazing deal! We got in late and when we left we didn't explore much because we were on our way to our next destination. We had an issue with our RV hot water so we used the showers on site. I was happy to know showers were available for no additional cost. If you go to a gas station shower it will cost you $13 alone. My review is 4 stars, I took one away because of the women's shower. It definitely needs some updates. The shower curtain had mold stains.. I think it's weird/unsafe that the only thing keeping someone from walking in on you is another shower curtain. The men's side is much nicer and with their own locking doors. I attached a photo of the grounds and seems like there is much to do. We stayed in site #14. It was very spacious! All sites were pretty well spaced and secluded. It seems like #12 is the spot to be with a nice set up overlooking the water. I'd stay here again, just wouldn't shower if I had a choice.

This is a beautifully maintained park! We were passing through and we're just spending one night at the campground. The sites are roomy and spaced apart l, providing privacy. Our space was basically by itself in what felt like a private section of woods. Another plus, it was almost perfectly level which made it fast and easy to set up. If you are into archery or disc golf, this park has incredible facilities for both! There's also an beautiful historic house at the entrance to the park which I'm sure is a great event venue during more normal times. If you go here, plan to be fairly self sufficient... options for shopping and restaurants in the surrounding area are surprisingly limited, and nearby Pascagoula is practically a ghost town. The park attendant recommended driving to Biloxi, but time didn't permit that for us on this trip. We did find a nice gulf-side park in Pascagoula with a pier and a view of the Port.

Late afternoon Bayou Walk offered a perfect silhouette!

Hubby and I just got back to Napa,Ca after a 3 week RV trip to Mississippi to visit family! We stayed in Gautier, where his folks lived for many years. Shepard Park is just a block away and while his parents were alive we had driven through many times. It was so perfect! Great campsites, with BBQ's and firepits too. He and I ventured every road in the park. Our all time Favorite spot is the Boardwalk on Lamotte Bayou ! If you stay at this place make sure you take time to visit this fairly new addition! Oh....And check out the office and store. They have many super cute items, made by locals for sale!! Thanks to Shepard State Park for a wonderful visit!

Also known as the Lamotee Bayou Campground, this review is based solely on my one night stay of the campground. Although there seemed to be a lot of activities offered within the park, I can't really speak on them... disc golf, archery target courses, fishing, etc. It's located just across the Mississippi/ Alabama line. The park consists on 395 acres and has 28 campsites. Most of the sites around mine were secluded and private. We stayed in site #12 and appeared to be the only one with a direct view of the water. You can't wade or swim, but it was accessible to fish. Each site has a picnic table and a charcoal grill. No fire pit, but there was a spot where someone started a fire before, but it wasn't rocked off. The water pressure was sufficient, especially for a state park campground. Mississippians, y'all are lucky! At $18 a night, the rate is a steal! I think we used $18 worth of water and electric while we were there. It's definitely worth the price. The only thing that I didn't like was the pad... it's a basically sand a little bit of gravel. It could use a lot of gravel to prevent tracking the sand and dust in the RV. So, definitely take a mat or a rug.

    Part of our RV campsite!

There are several pavilions, a children's play area, and more. I enjoyed just walking this park and along the pier just across the street. I also noticed that they had a lot of metal arch-type structures just before the pavilions that stated "PAVILIONS" throughout the property. I was talking to a client about it the next day, and he told me the shipping yard donated them to the community. This made sense to me. Pascagoula has a huge shipping manufacturer in their town. Obviously, this park was pretty popular to the community. The place had a lot of people just hanging out and enjoying being alive in the moment. Everything from a family enjoying the evening and a pizza, to joggers and dogwalkers to teenagers just hanging out were taking advantage of Pascagoula Beach Park. If business returns me to Pascagoula, Mississippi again, I would definitely return here. If life in general finds you in Pascagoula, Mississippi, I would recommend that you come check this cool place out. I will give it five stars.

Yes, it is a beautiful lighthouse but it is a serious pain to visit. There is no parking nearby and…read morethe road that passes in front of it is one way. You'll end up looping all the way around and under the Pascagoula River High Rise Bridge to come back to it. Or, you'll follow the signs and end up crossing over the bridge to make a u-turn and come back over the bridge to get to the lighthouse which still has no parking. We were here at 8am on Sunday morning so I just did an illegal parking move, put the flashers on for a few minutes, and got my eye level tour of the lighthouse. Which is impressive. The Round Island Lighthouse began in 1833 as a brick tower guiding ships through the Mississippi Sound, then was rebuilt in 1859 with a taller red brick structure and a fourth order Fresnel lens. The Confederacy removed the lens during the Civil War, but the light returned afterward and stayed in service until 1949 before being used as a day beacon for a few more years. Erosion and neglect took their toll, and by the time the city received the property in 1986 the tower was already fragile. Hurricane Georges toppled it in 1998, and Katrina destroyed the partial rebuild in 2005. The surviving base was moved to the Pascagoula waterfront in 2010, where restoration continues to preserve what remains of the original lighthouse. Definitely stop by to see it and be creative with your parking. [Review 309 of 2026 - 116 in Mississippi - 25497 overall]

Across from them, another couple was abducted at the same time, a woman named Mary Blair and her husband. This case was reported to the police and multiple witnesses came forward. There are plenty of books and documentaries on this incident, because it has been documented and has multiple witnesses of the lights, spaceship, and abduction. Research it. The event itself occurred right across from this park, over the water, next to the shipyard.
