Pretty awful with the false alarms led to evacuation many at times. Some guest left their bear spray on the floor, leading to another evacuation. Had to spend many hours out of the hotel until the peppery bear spray settled. Another employee told us they stopped checking in guests on floor 6 due to bear spray but the ones who stood coughing inside their room, had to beg for water bottles. The last fire alarm led to visible discernible smell of a gas leak from the kitchen, unless my nose has stopped smelling and that of the 4 other guests. Still, the front desk gave a sly smile, when we asked after waiting for 20 minutes, has the issue been addressed? The sly smile said, it was a false alarm, guys, atleast be transparent and honest when you have elderly folks be made to walk down 6 levels of stairs, have the courtesy to be respectful and be transparent in this day and age of information. read more

I had a layover in Calgary and stayed at the Sheraton. Our flight was delayed but the shuttle was there when we walked out of the airport at 11:30pm. It was -23 and it was wonderful to be whisked away to a comfortable and warm hotel. The room was large, the robe was super comfy, and the people could not have been friendlier. We were back out the next morning, so I didn't get a chance to try the restaurants or pool, but the service was excellent. read more

The boys and I were here to attend a friend's wedding reception. When we walked in, we discovered that there were two other wedding reception dinners going on at the same time but only one set of washrooms. Were all three groups expected to share the same set of washrooms? It's not like the staff were taking extra precautions to clean regularly during the evening -- yikes! The hospitality staff were friendly and efficient. Dinner was served in a timely manner and included a Caesar salad and roasted striploin with red wine demi glaze and seasonal vegetables. My striploin was well done but seasoned perfectly(while other tables had their striploin medium rare). Overall, the ballroom that the wedding party and guests were seated in was very spacious and well ventilated with a high ceiling. read more

We wanted a family weekend getaway and this place delivered big time! We had supper downstairs and it was good, front staff are friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and well stocked. We requested two housecoats and extra towels and they came quickly. The pool/oasis is amazing. Staff give you towels at check in, beach side "pool chairs" that are well spaced out, lots of room, tonnes of life jackets to borrow. Staff are extremely present and they checked the pool quality a few times. We will definitely be back just for the water park. I suggest bringing flip flops and a pool bag to bring things you need, also kid housecoats for going to and from water park on main level. Only recommendation for the room would be earplugs as second floor you could hear lots and an eye mask if worried about light at night, as the door has a slight space at bottom so light comes through a bit. My kids and myself give this 2 thumbs wayyyyy up! read more

First of all, the water slides were amazing. Both of them were super fun because they were very fast and crazy. Second of all, at colours ( a bistro in the Sheraton Cavalier) our waitress was simply incredible because she literally read our minds. We wanted coffee to go and we were about to ask her, but she asked us before we did. Later that night we went to Barlows, our waiter, Johnny, was an excellent server. He was funny and nice. Give this man a raise! Our room came with all the necessary accruements and had a great view. Overall our stay at the Sheraton Cavalier was extraordinary. read more

Great hotel. They have a free airport shuttle which is good but you have to wait 20 minutes for it to arrive. The hotel itself is very well maintained. It's big & brightly lite with at least 1 bar & 2 restaurants. The room that we stayed in was a King with a great bed & modern design. The bathroom was well equity & modern as well. The only minor issue...not a fan of the bed cloth. The bed cover is made up of a couple pieces that fall apart when used. The other minor issue...heating unit. Ours sounded like a transport truck started in our room when it came on. That took some getting used to. With Comfortable rooms, great lobby seating area & a very central location to where my family lives, this is a win for us. read more

I stayed here while attending meetings at WestJet and I'm glad I chose this hotel. From the outside, it looks like an old Sheraton....my immediate thought was "oh boy.....what did I get myself into?" I walk into the lobby, it's bright, airy, and modern. Immediately flanking check in is a Lobby Bar called Barlow's. I had dinner here the night I was leaving. I had the Thai Chicken Curry---1 Star dish. Too watery, and lacked depth of flavor. Watery curry sauce. My room on the club floor was beautiful. Up to date, it had plugs on the left side of the bed for larger iPad chargers, and USB ports on an updated clock radio on the right side. I also had a gorgeous view of the downtown area and mountains. The lounge....great view, awful food options at night and overpriced drinks. This is the first time I've EVER had to pay for cocktails in the lounge outside the United States. The lounge attendant (Asian woman) was not outgoing and acted like she had better places to be instead of in this lounge. I stay with Marriott quite frequently and former SPG hotels. The Westin in Frankfurt for example, had a lounge that had a great spread in the evenings. In fact, the Sheraton San Diego has a better offering of food (although by law they have to charge for drinks). This a huge area of opportunity for this management chain. Henry's pub downstairs is a great place to watch sports and grab a pint. The food is actually good as well. Skip the Starbucks offered at the quick service area by the elevators. It tastes like dishwater and they only offer small and medium sizes. Overall, I would stay here again. read more

Understaffed and an inconvenient location, but otherwise, cheap and a good place to stay. The phone rings frequently without anyone picking up. But when someone does pick up, they are usually very helpful. The small gym is open 24-hours, which is great. There are free apples at the gym. There's a 'members' lounge' (you qualify if you are a Starwoods Preferred Guest member) on the 8th floor that serves up continental breakfast in the morning and hors d'oeuvres in the evening - free for 'members' and still cheaper than the room service menu even if you're not a registered 'member' ($12 for breakfast, $9 for hors d'oeuvres). There's also a water park within the hotel, which is kinda cool, complete with various pools and a huge (for an indoor hotel in the middle of nowhere) water slide. The hotel is about 15 minutes away from the airport and 15 minutes away from downtown Calgary by taxi (about $20 per trip incld tips), so it is quite inconvenient if you need to get around the city. However taxis are usually available at the hotel and the hotel does offer free shuttles to the airport every half hour. The rooms are large and clean but dated. They do come with a flat-screen TV, iron, hairdryer and a mini fridge (locked but you are provided with the key). There is internet access by ethernet cable and by wireless connection ($10-ish per day) in the room. There is no safe in the room. I like it that they have a check-in kiosk for certain airlines (Air Canada and Westjet) at the hotel lobby. The biggest perk is that it is a relatively cheap hotel, compared to its downtown compatriots. read more

I was invited to a friend's wedding reception here, and let me tell it was very impressive. Two elegant ballrooms are available for parties up to 300. Our gathering was approximately 150 people, and all tables were decorated with chair covers, sashes and tulle. The lobby entering the ballroom is quite wide, enough room for the elaborate desert and long buffet tables. Service of waiters was 5 stars, my water and juice glass were always filled and dirty dishes were immediately taken away. Everyone looked so shimmery and glistening amidst such elegant decor, camera flashes were going off through the whole evening. The bride had a surprise for her hubby; a slideshow of their past together, so there was a digital projector screen and stereo sound. We were all in tears by the end of this presentation and pulled it together when the Elvis entertainer finally arrived. The food was amazing, ongoing beverages all night, there was roast beef, salmon, Cesar salad, delicious soups and an extensive desert bar complete with ubi cake ( traditional Filipino purple cake) and the bride's favourite Nanaimo bars. I have stayed at this hotel several times for business. It is located fairly close to the airport, although if you like to set out on foot after work to find a great place to relax and eat, you might find yourself right back at the hotel. The area is typical of much of Calgary's strip mall hell, and unless you like the typical chain restaurant parade, you'll have to travel a fair distance by car or cab to get to anywhere decent. The rooms have been recently renovated and very clean and comfortable. Staff is helpful and friendly. Catering and sales service, if you are planning an event, is fantastic! I've attended numerous business meetings here and the conference rooms suffice. They are plain, but get the job done. The rest of the hotel has updated decor and the staff are courteous. I'm just grateful that the parking is free. I always feel so ripped off when I have to pay for hotel parking. My friend stayed here for a few nights recently so I got to see her room. It's actually very well done but feels a bit crowded. More floor space in the main room and bathroom would be better. She had a key card for the elevator even though she was only staying on the second floor, which I think is a lovely security feature that more hotels should have. We spent some time in Henry's Pub and the service was great. My friend ate the steak sandwich and really enjoyed it. I just had a pint. The pub was full of business men and just a few ladies. It felt a bit more on the sophisticated side, which was unexpected but nice. This is review 500! I guess I should declare Yelping as a hobby. read more

Had the opportunity to stay here on an overnight. We chose it as it was close to the airport and they accept pets! Parking - free. Wi-fi - free. Staff, very friendly and professional. Great gift shop with everything you need. Pool, open til 10, as well as a work out room. Beds - most comfy ever. But, I like the mattress a little on the soft side. I want one of these beds! We were on a Corporate floor so I can say that the rooms seem to be designed more for men. Shower only, no tub and absolutely a very awkward, smallish bathroom. Not a ton of counter space, Mini-bar, check. We also had brought to our room a small bottle of Prosecco prior to our arrival. Yum, muchly needed. (with truffles!) Free continental hot breakfast until 930am on the 8th floor for Corporate rooms, check. Room service (even late night) - check. Delicious and prompt. I would recommend the burger and the shrimp and scallop (wrapped in bacon) appy. Cleanliness of the hotel, check. There is a shuttle to the airport too if needed - just alert the front desk. The only other thing was the TV satellite. It was constantly cutting out so TV was not really an option. Our stay was quick so it was ok but something to be aware of. Nice and quiet in the AM with no one rapping on our door to clean - heaven. Again, very hard to get out of the bed! There were cheaper options for what we needed re our stay - IE Holiday Inn but you do get what you pay for. For us, given the comfort and quiet, we are happy we chose to stay at the Sheraton Cavalier. read more

My brother and I were looking for nearby malls ( we are from California) we spoke to reception and not only did they give us all of the surrounding hotels in Calgary, they gave us details about what stores and brands are inside them. I've stayed her about 10 times this year and I love the hotel. The front desk staff is very welcoming and always helpful. The rooms are clean, bright and always taken care of well. Almost all the rooms have been renovated and are nice in decor. The free wireless is actually pretty strong. The lobby has a great lounge/bar/lobby and is great space and always nice to bump into friends after a long day. All the amenities are great.....I've not used the pool though.....Room service is good. The food is the typical Sheraton fare. read more

Traveling with kids? ask for a room on the second floor, as that is the floor for the pool is located on. If you are here on business stay on any floor but the second. This place has largest/best hotel pool in Cowtown. Its also very busy. The hotel's proximity to the airport makes it popular with travellers, the pool makes it popular with young sports teams and families. This hotel is not new, but frequent renovations keep it looking spiffy. The pool has 2 water-slides, a small-ish pool for swimming 2 big hot tubs and a shallow little kiddy pool. Towel service is free/lifejackets for a small rental fee. Lots of chairs/tables for the parents who just want to hang poolside and watch the shorties swim. There is a poolside restaurant that serves very expensive snacks/fast food. Lifeguards are present at all times. The rooms are the classic Sheraton rooms with the sweet sleeper beds, clean and comfy. There are 2 restaurants and one pub in this hotel, and a small gift-shop that serves starbucks coffee. Colors restaurant is pretty casual this is where you want to take your kids, as it is super kid friendly and Carver's is for the fancy pants and the childless. Both are very consistent. Colors has regular salad bar/buffet/spaghetti night evenings and Carvers is essentially a steakhouse. Room service is very good, too. All public spaces are fairly wheelchair accessible. Pet friendly, and the staff and management are polite and accommodating to the guests . read more

How can you give a hotel with TWO great water slides anything less than a 5 star review? The water park is perfect for families & it opens at 9 am. Our room was super comfortable. No complaints there. We ate in their restaurant twice for breakfast. Kids are welcome to come eat in their pajamas. Their breakfast buffet reasonable with plenty of options. The weekend Pancake Bar includes a candy bar for the kids. We really enjoyed it all. Hard to get the family to leave Calgary because of it all. read more

Stayed here last week after a Calgary fundraising event. The stay could not have been better. We arrived late, and happened to luck into a room that was recently renovated just 2 days earlier....absolutely beautiful. The only drawback was there was just a shower, not tub. It was a nice hotel. Polite customer service at the front desk. The room seemed clean and breakfast was lovely. The waterslides were fun, but we found that it was very cold in there. If the water temperature is being kept quite low, then the air temperature needs to be kept at more of a *summer* sort of temperature, not room temperature. My biggest complaint is that children are not allowed to warm up in the hot tubs. I have been to many different hotels with my children and have never seen another where children are actually banned from the hot tubs. The norm would be for parents to be accompanying up to a certain age. It is especially unhelpful to have this rule when everything else is so cold!!! There is no way to warm up. I wanted to love this place and come back over and over again, but it is just too cold. read more

Beds we're extremely comfy, original room faced busy road, but they switched us to a quieter room upon request. Rooms were very nice. We arranged for in room massages through the concierge (which were amazing). Opted to pay for the massages upon checkout, only to find out the front desk overcharged us by almost $50. We phoned the company the massages were arranged through who told us it would have to be fixed through the hotel. The mistake was fixed, it was a training issue, they didn't know how to interpret or bill the charge correctly. While extremely happy it was corrected, it took some enjoyment out of the experience. read more

We came up to Calgary for a family thanksgiving weekend! This hotel was such a breath of fresh air. We stayed in room 430- it was an adjoining room but we didn't need it- the king size bed was amazing after running around calaway park all day! The shower was great- although it was a tight squeeze in the bathroom. The pool was fantastic! Although the second night the pool and hot tub could have used a bit more warm/hot water! The slides were fun! Unfortunately I didn't realize until the second night they had a little oasis- which served tasty looking food and drinks-alcoholic and non alcoholic. It was probably a good thing.. I probably would have stayed pool side all day drinking ;) The staff were very accommodating- and so friendly. They were all just so great! My S.O and I both agreed... When we come back to Calgary we will most definitely be staying here again!...but probably without the kids and nephew... I kind of like the idea of being pool side with beer all day ;) thanks Sheraton staff for making our stay so great! read more

The hotel is located in a very convenient location with lots of restaurants nearby. The front desk and gift shop staff were very helpful and friendly, and my kids really liked the indoor pool and water slides. Overall, this was a great hotel to stay at, but I had to knock down my rating to four stars because the cleaning staff never seemed to do their job completely. The room seem clean upon arrival, but later on we discovered that no one moved the armchair to vacuum underneath, and there were pieces of food underneath. I also found a Cheetos underneath the phone book in one of the drawers. Housekeeping also neglected to provide additional Kleenex even though the box was almost depleted (the tissue was blue instead of white). read more

I recently had the pleasure of staying here. The staff was supper nice and always felt went out of their way to help me. I stayed there two nights and even made friends with the housekeeper on my floor. Being so close to the airport is a bonus for this hotel. I had breakfast at Colour Cafe inside the hotel and was surprised to fin a breakfast buffet. It was a bit overpriced IMHO ($17.00) but it was really good food. read more

Very nice Sheraton. Lobby is nice with a Starbucks. I was told it was renovated recently and it looks it. Modern decor with flat screen TVs, comfortable beds. Only complaint is the water pressure is low and it takes forever to get hot water to the shower. Not 5 minutes from airport any more. They are adding a runway and blocked off the street leading directly to the airport. So now it is a 15 minute drive. Don't trust your GPS unless it has been recently updated. read more

Dinner at the pub was delicious with huge portions and extremely reasonable prices. Breakfast buffet was a little overpriced for what it actually was and we probably wouldn't do it again. The room itself was clean and updated and very comfortable. A great place to stay if you're passing through Calgary, and very close to the airport. Tons of restaurants and shops nearby as well so you can walk someplace else to get some grub. read more
