If you would like amazing Indian food and are in Amsterdam, there is absolutely no reason NOT to eat here. My husband and I can here on our first night in Amsterdam and again on our last night. It is delicious! We ordered the garlic tikka chicken tandoori and the chicken korma both times. Hands down, best Indian food we have ever had. Staff was attentive and it was a great culinary experience! And I forgot to mention the garlic naan bread. So worth it! We brought it back our apartment and are loving it! read more

This restaurant has excellent Tibetan and Nepalese food. Both of my parents ordered each a number 28 under the Nepalese menu, a tray with chicken, curry, lentil curry, rice, and yogurt. I ordered a number 22 under the Tibetan menu, a plate with noodles, momos (a type of dumpling that can be steamed or fried and it can have lamb of chicken inside), and ground lamb. The dishes were delicious, and they were big enough portions to fill all of us up. If you have not already gotten tired from the Dutch pancakes/sandwiches and gyros/döners, I highly recommend going to this restaurant. Oh and make sure you try their home made coriander hot sauce! read more

I've eaten at Sherpa more than a dozen times spread over many years. The food is consistently excellent. I love that you can order momos (dumplings) as a meal; they are preceded by a bit of lentil soup and papadum. The menu is split between Tibetan/Nepalese and Indian dishes. I have only ordered the former as these are what I am seeking. Their native alcoholic drink raksi is quite strong, like saké. Service is good. I would recommend sitting outside if the weather allows. read more

Ok this is one of those places you expect to be touristy, but it is NOT Sherpa is on a tiny street next to the canals so it's easy to miss. It is tiny and the decor is kitschy. But the service and the food are out of sight. Sherpa bills itself as Nepalese, but the menu is evenly split between Indian, Tibetan, and Nepalese. If you're looking for a pure play, this isn't it. But they make it all fit. We had momo stuffed with lamb, which was supple and light; also the vegetable samosas - the best I've ever eaten. The spicing on that was just incredible. For anyone except giants, you might consider splitting an entree - they are gigantic. If not, you'll want to take it with you (even if that's to London like us). I had the Lusha Sherpa Feast, which is a Tibetan dish with lamb that made me regret (brefly) that I'd played myself with appetizers. My fiancee had something equally amazing. My husband and I are visiting Amsterdam for a few days and have stumbled upon some really great restaurants- Sherpa definitely being one of them!! We ordered the 3-course non-vegetarian meal which included dishes from Nepal, India, and Tibet. Let me just say, we were not disappointed!!! An intimate restaurant with a lot of heart. My fiancé had been to Nepal several times before and absolutely loved the food. He believes this is the best presentation of authentic Nepali food in Europe. We had the vegetarian momos and dal bhat and it was delicious. Like many other reviews I only have great things to say about the food and service. We had dinner on a beautiful early June evening sitting at one of the outside tables. I had the Nepalese lamb with spinach and my wife had an Indian lamb dish with a wonderful tomatoes base. The quality of the lamb was excellent, every piece succulent and tender. The yogurt and chutney were excellent to accompany the food. The wine and beer list did well to complement the food. The service was attentive and caring. The place was excellent! It was centrally located, and the menu included an English translation. For two people we ordered the wings, a cheese naan, and a cinnamon, yogurt lamb dish recommended by the waitress. The food was all excellent, and the staff was very attentive and helpful with recommendations not only for the menu, but also for traveling around Amsterdam. Very simple place with wonderful, middle priced food. Tourists and locals alike come to this restaurant in a very busy and touristic part of town - but the food and environment are anything but touristic. Amazing food with decent prices and wonderful service. With a wide spectrum of flavors, there is something for everybody, especially for people who have never tried tibetan or nepali food before. We had the vegetarian noodles with veggie MOMOs that were really unique and tasty. The nepali beer was also very impressive! Fantastic Nepalese food every time we visit Amsterdam! I absolutely adore their traditional dishes (especially the ones that get served in the steamer pot). Even though those specific dishes are minimum of 2 people, it can easily feed up to 3 or 4 people because it gets served with noodles and rice. Seriously, if you're looking for something unique and absolutely delicious just give Sherpa a try and you won't regret it either. Oh, the and service is impeccable. It's one guy serving most of the tables in the restaurant but he takes the time out to describe each dish and help pick something out if you're lost on where to start. He was so kind and ended up giving us a free bottle of wine! Granted we were being super nice customers, but I don't remember the last time I received a free bottle of wine from a restaurant when the bill only came out to less than 40 euros. My boyfriend and I are coming back again before we leave Amsterdam, just can't wait to try more of their menu! read more

Fantastic food, hands down. Fresh, tasty and we could tell it was prepared from scratch. We ordered and shared the vegetarian tibetan meal for two, which included tasty spinach and cheese dumplings, mixed vegetables and paneer in a tasty soup.
