I'm a remote landlord with properties in Bowling Green and Lexington. A property I owned in BG…read moreneeded it's exterior painted in 2024 so I used Perdue. They finished the job and sent photos. I checked with the tenant who confirmed the exterior was painted so I made payment. Fast forward 18 months the same location was to be vacant for a month, except for a folding table and 2 new padded folding chairs, so I hired Perdue to do the interior. I gave them a set of keys to paint at their convenience. They finished and sent photos. I trusted them and agreed to pay the balance. They wanted cash but I refused so I paid by Venmo. I traveled to BG and noticed they did not paint the closets even though they had left the masking tape on the door knobs. It appears they forgot. I returned to Louisville. They came back out and painted the walls, door and jam on two closets but not on the other two. I pointed this out but they never returned. In a close inspection I noticed the following: The hinges on the doors were painted; overspray on all floors that took 6 hours to scrape up (not all would come up); overspray and drops of paint on bathroom fixtures that would not come off; They swept up the debris into 4 piles but left me to pick those up; boot prints all over the bathroom floor; one chair used as a step stool to paint the ceilings and both chairs ruined by overspray with paint; ceiling in living room shows spray patterns in random areas; paint drops in tile grout; masking tape left on light fixtures; bathroom vanity counter edging was painted; in painting the porch they damaged screens; did not sweep up paint scrapings on porch; paint on floor registers; painted over old peeling paint without scraping; These guys are by no means professional they are just spray and pray. Spray everything and pray no one checks their work. In hindsight paying $6K to paint a 900 SF interior was way too much. I also took a closer look at the exterior paint job. When Perdue says they will paint the exterior that just means the siding. I didn't know it meant no trim, doors and door jambs. I also noticed paint peeling off. I guess I shouldn't expect a paint job to last longer than 18 months. What was I thinking?

We hired Mike Perdue, initially, to paint our living room, kitchen/dining area and hallway. He…read moregave us a contract for that work. The work was strictly to paint the walls and patch any holes left by previous owner (we did not need him to patch where we were rehanging pictures). When that was completed, my husband asked for a quote for bedrooms and bathrooms. He was given a verbal quote, but no contract. I was out of town, but headed to a paint store to check out colors and then sent those to Mike, via txt. When they were almost done painting, my husband asked what we would owe and was shocked that it was $600 more than what we expected. My husband questioned it and Mike knocked $100 off price immediately. I then texted Mike to ask for an invoice, as he never presented one to my husband. It took a couple days but we finally got an invoice. I questioned the invoice and got the response that we got our entire house painted for $2500, with 6 different colors, and that they went above and beyond, and he couldn't figure out why were were mad. With regard to paint colors, the first portion of job was one color. Bedrooms and bathrooms were different colors, but wouldn't you think that when I presented him with 5 new colors for those rooms, he would say, well, that will cost more? He did not. Again, work was strictly painting the walls, no ceilings or trim work. One bedroom required a 2nd coat and we were charged an additional amount for that. OK - so we felt we were overcharged. After going over living room closely, my husband could see the original paint coming through in several areas. He also knew they'd thinned the paint with water, as they underestimated the amount of paint for the first job. In the master bathroom, there is a strip where they totally did not paint. They also slopped paint on the toilet, handicap grab bars and floor. My husband, who has Parkinson's disease and can barely bend, spent hours on the floor cleaning up after them. Mike tried to tell us that paint was there prior. Now, we've lived in the house almost 1 year. I think I would have seen paint on toilet and floor before that. The grab bars were brand new to home this past November 2019. No painting done between November and March, so this was not done prior to Perdue's Painting. We contacted Mike via text and then certified letter requesting a refund of $250. We have yet to hear back from him. If work had been exceptional, we would not have complained. However, when you pay $2500 to have walls painted, most people would expect to not see old paint coming through, etc.
