The water line between the street and my house sprung a leak that I discovered about 3PM in the…read moreafternoon. Grabbed my shovel and started following the water and about four foot down found the water line that was leaking. Over the next 24 hours I made four trips to HD and two trips to Lowes trying to get the fittings and pipe I need to repair it and finally cobbled something together about ten PM at night but it was a kludgy fix and only lasted for about 30 minutes before it sprang a leak too. The next morning I started searching on internet for one inch CPVC pipe which is what I needed to make a proper repair. Both Lowes and Home Depot websites said they had it but I was at one HD and two Lowes and none of them had ANY CPVC pipe. Internet said Handy Ace Hardware had some so I drove there. It is not a huge place (from the outside) but inside it is packed with tall shelving units, closely spaced, and together with the walls has much more stock and most importantly SELECTION than most HD or Lws!! Walked out of Handy Ace about 30 minutes later with a 10 foot length of 1" CVPC pipe and several right angle fittings and couplers and headed home to make the proper (and final) repair. This is a classic hardware store like the best ones I remember from years back before the big box stores forced most of them out of business. Yes, they are not cheap, but not horribly expensive either and had I gotten to Handy the evening before my water main leak ordeal would have been much shorter and less frustrating. That would have been work a LOT!!

I expect it's the same with all the high dollar equipment including BGE. I purchased a Stihl RB400 pressure washer in the morning to strip paint off my house, as my old pressure washer wasn't up to the task. I used it for about 20 minutes before all 4 anti vibration mounts sheared off the chassis and the engine and pump fell to the ground. After looking at it, it looks like the mounts were severely over-torqued by Ace during assembly. It was a little frustrating to have that happen to a brand new $850 piece of equipment that's supposed to be top of the line, but whatever, things happen and Stihl has a great warranty right? So I called the store to make a warranty claim, and I was informed they do not have any repair staff on site and would have to ship it to a repair facility. I've owned a lot of Stihl equipment, I've never had an issue with a warranty claim until now. They gave me an estimate of 2 weeks to repair, but since I have a halfway unpainted house now, I told them I just wanted to return it. On the phone they told me no problem and to bring it in. I loaded it up and took it in. When I got there they told me they can't take Stihl returns and I'd have to send it in for repairs. I run all Stihl equipment at my house, and I own a business that runs Stihl equipment in all our crew trucks. I've made plenty of returns and had plenty of warranty claims at other Stihl dealers without ever having a problem. This Ace is either unwilling to help or unable to help, both cases are simply unacceptable. If you'll be purchasing major equipment, purchase somewhere that can stand behind it and make you whole. That's kind of the whole point of paying a premium for Stihl.

She called for someone to assist me who promptly came but obviously was very disinterested in helping me. He seemed bored and offered few suggestions, just seemed to want to end the transaction. I reluctantly chose some tile but stopped back by to see Barbara. She called Moses who was AWESOME! He asked pertinent questions and steered me to what I really needed ( not what I had picked with original guy) Kudos to Moses, he is awesome!

They scheduled us for a floor installation that should have take two days but actually took two weeks to complete. They lied about the workers working on the weekends which they did not. We took off time from work for the two day scheduled time and thought whatever was not finished would be completed on the weekend. We was wrong, they didn't work on weekends and started mid morning and was ready to leave at 6pm due to a long drive. After complaining to the supervisor of Floor and Decor installation he gave excuses about why they didn't send out a full crew at the start of the project and switched up crews in the middle of the project. Our house was a mess for two weeks behind this nonsense. The tile work is good and they missed the place behind the water heater which the supervisor had to come in and finish. It was awful just awful. I can strongly recommend Floor and Decor for your tile selections but by no means should anyone use their installation service. It is the worst. They should just hire independent contractors that maybe more reliable. Never again will we use the installation services it isn't worth the headache.
