The people who work here are friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. Last year I was in Home Depot in Manchester picking up some trim molding. It seemed a little expensive. I called White Mountain Lumber to compare prices. I got Evie(super cute!) on the phone and when she gave me the price, I almost fainted! Buying it at White Mountain lumber paid for my gas on one trip from Manchester to Berlin, a trip I was frequently making at the time. Then it dawned on me. With Berlin quickly becoming a tourist destination with the 1000 mile Ride the Wilds" trail system exploding in popularity, people are traveling there from all over New England with trailers behind their trucks and SUV's. You are also only minutes from the Appalachian Trail, great fishing, jaw dropping scenery, kayaking, snowmobiling - the Berlin area has it all! Why not get some lumber from the great north woods for your home - and help pay for your travel expenses with the savings? You will make the great north woods part of your home! I had a hard time getting keys made in the Berlin area - most of them didn;'t work. When I have keys made at White Mountain Lumber - they always work! I needed some 6x8 beams once for a project, and one of the owners, Barry, gave me an excellent deal on them. He was super down to earth and friendly. Inside it has more than average amount of paint swatches and collections of paint to help narrow down your colors. I went in a few different times and the guy working there was nice. They of course have tons of paint related items and I found it super helpful to buy the kits with foam boards and mini rollers so I could apply my sample paint to several large squares that could be affixed temporarily to my wall at home rather than paint all over my new drywall as we decided our colors. I have only two complaints- 1) the only sample size here is ridiculous- it's way to large, unless I plan on painting an entire wall to decide, I'm wasting paint and they are quite expensive compared to other smaller sized samples from other stores (and believe me, the cost adds up quick if you get multiple samples!) 2) we chose our color based on the formula on the sample, which when our painter got our paint, it ended up needing to be repainted due to the color being wrong compared to the sample. This was fixed later and figured out by our painter with Maine Paint and we were lucky enough that the second coat covered the wrong color well. The right color is beautiful. All in all I'd recommend the paint and give this location another go, but they appear to need to work on their mixing consistency. The color should be the same no matter which Maine Paint you go to and what sample you get!

We have always found the employees considerate, knowledgeable and very helpful. Our plan for this project, was to paint the walls and ceiling of our bedroon. My wife was going to prep the room during the day and I was going to come home Friday evening and paint the ceiling. Then, on Saturday morning, our plan was to knock out the walls. Well, the best laid out plans don't always go the way you want, now do they! We underestimated the amount of paint we needed for the ceiling and checked to see if SW was open late on a Friday evening and they were. I whipped over and picked up another gallon of ceiling paint, which they had in stock. They completely saved the day! I also picked up another gallon of the wall paint. Oh, yeah one more thing, always check the Internet for sales. We did this time and got 30% off!

She rang it up as $108. I showed her the tag, she said it was wrong and asked me if I still wanted it. I said yes. I drove home and found the real price tag inside the box which was $98. I drove back and her words to me were: "Fine I will give you back the $10 if you promise never to come into this store again." On video. Everyone else there is helpful and friendly. They looked in the back room but were unable to locate the item we were looking for. They located a larger, presumably more expensive product, not sure how much because the product wouldn't scan. Being the end of summer you would think they would want to sell any remaining stock of weed wackers they had but no one seemed overly willing to make a sale happen.
