She is undaunted by complex conditions and is one of the few doctors that are truly knowledgeable about my diagnosis in Portland, and I feel grateful that I am able to be seen by her. I waited for many weeks for my vials of serum to be made so I could begin treatment and after all that waiting I received a message (in the app) that I needed to pay $500 before they would place order for my serum. I never even saw a medical doctor. I had a phone call with a PA and skin prick test was performed by a "tech" (her words). I was pretty sure my insurance would cover the treatment and after calling to confirm I asked (in app again) for my records to be sent to a new clinic. I was told they made a mistake (in app again) submitting to my insurance company. Still waiting on them to send my results to new doctors. I just can't trust this practice with my care if they can't even figure the office out. I'm glad I confirmed before paying out of pocket for covered services. Not a phone call or even an in message app after I asked for my records. Not good!

The ability for patients to communicate with reception is hampered by the klunky and non-intuitive online Klara interface, instead of allowing patents to simply call in and speak to someone in reception. Billing is confusing and only adds to the burden for administrative staff, having to answer questions that a better system would avoid. The various branches of this business are also slowly going extinct. The portent for people who use this clinic seems grim.

When i finally got around to following up on a doctor's advice from a few years ago to get myself…read morechecked for an allergy to bee stings, i ended up seeing Dr. Montanaro at OHSU's Allergy and Immunology Clinic. Dr. Montanaro is an Attending, so the first person i talked to was a Resident working for him. Much like the role a nurse often fills, i talked to her about why i was there, my medical history, and such. She took notes, went to discuss it with Dr. Montanaro, and a few minutes later they both came in. Dr. Montanaro and i talked for a few minutes to make sure he understood the scope of my prior allergic reaction, then he explained why he thought it would save everyone some time, money, and discomfort to skip actual allergy testing. He made it very clear that if i wanted to do the blood test, they'd be perfectly willing, but he was confident that i'm at very low risk for anaphylaxis (severe, life-threatening allergic reaction) and probably shouldn't worry about it. He gave me advice on how to avoid future exposure, how to treat myself if i do get stung, and encouraged me to take a prescription for an epi-pen just in case things got out of hand (multiple stings, etc). After that, he even took a few minutes to discuss my two minor food allergies. He talked about how people with one allergy are at higher risk for the other, so it's not coincidence that i have both, and so on. Really, i learned a staggering amount in my 30 minute appointment _and_ didn't have to get stabbed or scratched, so i'm pretty happy with it all. Dr. Montanaro is friendly, helpful, and willing to take the time to make sure you understand as much as you want to.

That apprehension dissolved quickly, Simone's energy is bright and welcoming and the experience was very positive. She is practicing and sharing PURE qi gong, NOT watered-down new-age energy work. I won't share the details of my personal experience, but I will say that I felt a lot of qi movement and replenishment, and left feeling much more inner peace and awareness of my surroundings, body, and self. She picked up on issues that I had forgotten to even mention, and the session gave me more clear direction on what I can do to improve my health and personal development, also renewing interest in deepening my own solo qi gong practice. During our time together, she repeatedly caused energetic shifts in me that were just as noticeable as hearing my cell phone ringing. In other words, very real and observable effects. I continued doing the practices prescribed by Simone for months and am now considering going to study this form in China. Working with Simone is the epitome of holistic; physical, mental and emotional healing that is measurable and maintainable.
