I have hiked Shiloh Ranch Regional Park many times and have explored several different trails using AllTrails, and I can honestly say every part of this park is gorgeous. Each visit feels a little different depending on the season. It is especially beautiful after it rains. On Creekside Trail you can hear the water flowing, which makes the hike incredibly peaceful. There is also a scenic spot at the top that is well worth the climb and offers a great place to pause and take it all in. I would consider this a moderate hike due to the incline. The descent can be challenging in some areas because it is steep and rocky, so I highly suggest wearing proper hiking shoes. The trails offer a variety of terrain and along the way you can spot many different species of mushrooms, which adds to the experience if you enjoy nature observation. The park is easy to access, not overly crowded, and it closes at sunset. Overall it is one of my favorite places to hike in the area and a great option if you want a scenic, peaceful hike with a bit of a challenge. Highly recommend. read more

We have been hiking here a lot over the years! It is an amazing place to go hiking or trail running. There is a fee to park in the parking lot next to the park. If you have a regional parks pass, please bring this with you and you can park for free. Some people that don't want to pay park outside the park and walk in. There is a picnic area at the entrance and picnic tables and benches throughout the park. There are clean restrooms at the entrance of the park. Pro tip: Bring water with you! You can choose to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the views. In the winter months it gets somewhat muddy so wear hiking shoes and preferebly ones that are waterproof. There are lots of trails to choose from. Dogs are not allowed. Horses and ebikes are allowed. read more

What a lovely gem of a park so close to civilization near Wikiup and Santa Rosa. I am new to the area and was invited by a meet up group to hike with them, and I'm really glad I did. It was a stunning Fall day after the recent rains so maybe that was part of the reason for my exuberance. But this park was very pretty and so quiet and remote in feeling that I really felt like I "got away". There were only a few other hikers and runners on the path during our Monday hike. I didnt really check which trails we took but there's not that many to choose from. I think people generally make one big loop, but on this day we did a 2.5 hour out to the pond and back on the same trail due to the possibility of mud on one end of the loop. There was about a 700 foot elevation gain so we had a decent little workout. By the time we had finished, it had become such a very pleasant and warm morning that I decided to linger for some light reading and a snack on one of the many picnic benches just off the parking lot in a well landscaped and shaded area. A perfect spot for groups or families and in fact there was a rambunctious youth group camped out there enjoying the morning just as much as I. I will definitely go back to this spot on my travels through the wonderful County of Sonoma. read more

I am an avid hiker and I love the outdoors. This park is a great one for beginners to intermediate. Nothing to difficult here. The trail loop around the lake is my favorite. There are several trails. The views of the hills and vineyards are lovely. There are several benches along the way to rest on. I have hiked a forest trail that is excellent as well. There are several types of birds and I have seen a few deer. They also have a nice picnic table area and very clean bathrooms- which is rare. So much beauty to see and it's nice and quiet. I hope to come here for years to come. Definitely one of my happy places. read more

Solid regional park! Great trails for beginners with a few challenging sections for those wanting to build up a sweat. I'm a hiker but don't be surprised to see horses and bikers alike. Sweet views throughout! Lots of deer and other wildlife and the burn scar isn't as significant as some parks. Trails are well maintained. It's popular so expect to see a lot of people on weekends. Pro tip: Use the restroom before you start your trek because there's nowhere to go once you hit the trail; I hope they put another restroom at the furthest outreaches for bio breaks similar to what they've done at Annadel (different jurisdictions I know). Shiloh Ranch Regional Park - Some of the Wildlife - Parks Near Me - Windsor, California

On this Earth Day I'm thankful for beautiful Shiloh Regional Park! It's one of our favorite local spots for trail running! It's a stone's throw from 101. There's a parking lot ($7 fee) near the entrance or you can park a very short walk away along Faught Rd. There's a picnic area at the entrance, near the parking, and there are clean restrooms (with flush toilets!) there too. Pro tip: take advantage of the restrooms before you set out on a hike or run!!! And bring water! The looped, unpaved trails allow you to choose your own adventure in terms of distance (Does anyone remember those Choose Your Own Adventure childhood books, or am I aging myself?). Note that the trails are open to horseback riders too; be sure to yield to them if you're on foot. And I think they are open to mountain bikes too, so just be aware. Be prepared for some decent climbing, some shade, some exposed areas...and an overall beautiful day of exercise out in nature! Our most recent run was Creekside Trail to Canyon Trail to Ridge Loop. Think that's about 4.4 and we ran on the road a bit to extend it to 5 miles. Note: Dogs are NOT allowed at the park so leave Fideaux at home! Enjoy and Happy Earth Day! read more

I adore Shiloh Ridge Regional Park! Scenic trails, few people, and endless hills make this park one of my favorites in Santa Rosa. I can't believe we have such beautiful parks so close to civilization. Hiking through Shiloh makes you feel far away from the daily grind. During the week, there aren't many people on the trails, so I always make sure to hike with a friend. It's a bit more crowded on weekends, but Shiloh still attracts way fewer people than Spring Lake or Howarth Park. The creek trail is a great hike if you only want a moderate climb. Otherwise, the trails all have epic hills! You definitely get a workout while hiking at Shiloh. :) So grateful for Sonoma County Regional Parks! Although I wish I could be enjoying Shiloh at this moment, I applaud the parks for taking public health seriously and closing during COVID-19. Can't wait to return once this pandemic has subsided. read more

This park is great. I recommend it for beginner or intermediate hikers. I did the hike that went around the creek and it was not so tough. A little bit of incline on some areas but nothing too challenging. The hike along the creek was dry. You could tell there should have been more water. However, the whole trail itself was very beautiful. Once you get to the creek there is a lot of frogs and little fish. There was a few big frogs, but not too many. My little brother said he saw a turtle too! It is really peaceful out there and you could hear every movement the animals make in the water. When you reach the top you get a nice view of the vineyards, city, and mountains behind. Along the trail I encountered other hikers and they were all kind. Will definitely be coming back to this park! read more

What is not to like about this park. Not the easiest of climbs and so could be challenging to some. The views are incredible from the top outlook - a must visit. Don't be put off by many cars on the road outside, the parking lot is usually empty and you don't often bump in to folks. Love this park, we are lucky to have it. Shiloh Ranch has been open again for a couple weeks and yesterday started to allow onsite parking again. Really like this park as it give a tough workout and as dogs are not allowed it limits the amount of people coming here. Almost all of the trails are very wide so keeping your 6 feet of distance is easy. Actually keeping 10+ feet away is easy. Of all the Sonoma County Regional parks, Shiloh Ranch is my favorite for a hard but peaceful hike. Masks are required if within 6 feet but are not needed because of the few people. NO Dogs Allowed in Shiloh Regional Park. We went on a Bill and Dave hike at Shiloh Regional Park on Sat 3/10/12. From Fremont it's about 2hrs to this small park. Parking: $6 per vehicle or you can park FREE on Faught Rd outside the paid area. Bathrooms: One male/female flushed bathroom w/ sink, no soap. There's Shiloh group picnic area that can be reserved: 565-2041 We supposedly did a 6.5 mile hike. The first loop 4.5, then lunch at the picnic area, then 2 miles on the second loop. From the parking lot we did the Creekside Trail to Pond Trail, pond is for Canadian Geese, no swimming/diving. Then we somehow ended up on Big Leaf Trail back to the parking lot. After lunch we went up Creekside Trail & turned Right on Ridge Trail. Went to viewpoint w/ a sign saying Vista, it was ok, then back down on Big Leaf Trail back to cars. ***~NO DOGS ~ --- ~HORSES WELCOME~*** That's okay. I love my 3 furry friends but it was nice to leave the poochies behind and take a human adventure. Frankly, NO DOGS is the main reason I've never been to this park before. But after a horrific tick incident at Taylor Mountian, it was time to leave Muttley Crew home for a change. This park doesn't seem as busy as the other regional parks probably because Fido can't come. This park has it's own peace and serenity to it. You choose your our destiny at Shiloh. Following the map, we chose the shaded creek trail to connect to the pond and then down the Ridge trail. If you're feeling ambitious, you can be a superstar and climb up the Ridge Trail. (bless your soul if you try) Next time, we will venture the Canyon Trail and would like to find the Big Leaf shrine. Notes around the parking lot said there was a shrine 1/2 mile up the Big Leaf Trail. Leave a peace offering. There is a lot of fire damage at Shiloh and you can really see where the Tubbs ripped it's Firestorm through there. Even though the park was scarred with burns, the park still lushed it's beauty with green rolling hills. Nature is healing herself January and February is my favorite time in Sonoma County. Everything is so beautiful before it turns brown. The wild flowers are starting to appear as well. In the picnic area is a horseshoe pit and Bocciball court. This is a really lovely park! read more

I had the great opportunity to attend an Elite event yesterday as a guest and had a great time. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and as it turns out once again I have taken for granted that I had this great park in my backyard and had never been. We were very fortunate that the weather cooperated and it turned out to be a beautiful day for a hike. If I had to rate the level of difficulty of this park I would probably say medium, there are a couple of hills that will definitely get your heart pumping but once you reach the top the views are worth it. If you go after it has recently rain I recommend some good hiking shoes as it can be a bit slippery, also be careful crossing the creeks as the water can move rather fast and you can lose your footing. If you have the time take advantage of the picnic tables, take a lunch and enjoy the view. I will be returning soon to explore some of the other trails. read more

When I went today the parking lot was closed which didn't stop any hikers since there's availability on the road. Popular trails, as we were heading out, groups were coming in. As you move along you can hear everything from the symphony of wildlife to the gentle gurglle of various random sounds. Spring definitely has taken her paint brush through the park. Lovely wild iris' and butter cups along with many other colors blanket the sides of the pathway. As many other reviews mention, no pooches. But if you have a horse..and when I was walking up that steep hill boy howdy I wish I had had one! Ha! There are several paths to take through the park. They are not for someone who has bad knees thats for sure. There is a little creek running through right now. The park is peaceful and lovely. Amazing views of wine country, in a uncrowded 850 acre park. Its hard not to like a trail park thats a stones throw from where you live, but Shiloh Ranch is worthy of visiting even if you drive. Many great reasons to come here: - views of vineyards, hills, wine country - variety of trails, can do short or long hikes. - friendly to bikes, trail runners, hikers, and horses. (no dogs on trails...grrrrrr) - picnic area. (allows leashed dogs.) Do take a few minutes to glance at the trail map and plan your route. Although signs/maps are better here than other trails. If you want more strenuous uphill, start the trails going left, as you face the hills. For easier, more downhill, go right. Note that in both, especially going downhill, good shoes and careful footing are important. Much of the trails are shaded, so while you do get some direct sun exposure, generally its comfortable even mid day. Parking, if you park right there, is $6. Its un-monitored, but its a good idea in these times to help support your parks. Great Sonoma County Park - amazing views and lots of trails! From the parking lot start north and loop around on the Ridge trail for an amazing view overlooking Windsor from Healdsburg to Santa Rosa. The hike isn't too difficult and the loop amounts to just under 3 miles and all along the ways you're get beautiful lookouts overlooking Windsor. A couple things to keep in mind: 1. $7 to park unless you have the Sonoma County Parks Pass (which I HIGHLY recommend). I hate to say it b/c I proudly support SC Parks, but there is plenty of free parking outside the gate on Faught Rd. 2. Snap a pic of the map b/c if you're not careful you may take the wrong trail and wind up at the south parking lot by the cemetery (only 1/2 mile away on Faught) or by the Mark West Creek (which would mean a back-track [not a big deal if that's what you intended to do but don't get fooled thinking its a loop]). read more

The front trail is 3.25mi round trip with a climb of 725ft. Wonderful descent on the mountainbike. Takes about a half an hour, even if you have to walk it a little.See you there in the morning. read more

Shiloh Ranch Regional Park is a fun little park with about three miles of really lovely trails and great views of the surrounding countryside. Dogs aren't allowed, which is a little sad, but horses and bicycles are. There's a bathroom at the park entrance, a water fountain, and a small pay-parking-lot. Save yourself six bucks though; park across the street from the lot on the shoulder of the road (it's free and it's legal)! read more

A gem of a park within the Sonoma County Regional Parks system. Nice variety of trails, including the Ridge Trail which provides some decent elevation gain to get your heart pumping. Most of the trails are well shaded but the Ridge Trail has sections which are pretty exposed. On hot days, it is HOT, so don't forget to bring water! I come here to hike and run. There are lots of mountain bikes on the trails, so if you're on foot, be aware that they do come screaming down the descents. Horse back riding is also permitted, so keep an eye out for poop! Dogs, unfortunately, are not allowed. Parking is $7 or free with the annual Sonoma County Parks Pass (though there is free parking outside the gate). If you love the parks in our county, consider purchasing the pass. It's a great way to support such an awesome resource! read more

This is located near my house and I really enjoy this hiking spot. Like many others have said, it's mostly in the sun so make sure to bring water and sunscreen. My favorite time to go is during winter because everything is so green and heat isn't an issue. They are currently redoing the picnic area so there's a lot of construction going on at the main entrance and bathrooms are currently not available. Great spot if you have horses but dogs are not allowed which is disappointing because my puppy would love it! Most of the trails are long so this isn't the best spot if you are looking for something quick. Make sure to take a peek at the map before starting because it's easy to get a bit lost once you are tucked away in its beauty. Enjoy! read more

Shilo has a wonderful variety of trails that are lovely any time of year. Recently, there were 'upgrades' pr changes made to the picnic area at the base of the hills with areas to play horse shoes or bocce ball and skmw nice new plants as opposed to the previous bark. They're excellent for those looking for a simple walk, or more intense hiking. Dogs aren't allowed on the trails, but they do permit horses; each trail is suitable for horses though some can be narrow in places. There's a lovely pond you can find, and even a cemetery if you take a accidental wrong turn. I always enjoy hiking around, finding well worn paths off the trails and seeing where it is they lead! If you do bring your horses, beware the rattlesnakes! If you dont, beware the rattlesnakes and horse poop! read more

Had a lovely hike here this morning. Arrived a little before 9 so it was not too busy. By the time I was leaving around 10:45 the trails were busy and the parking lot was almost full. I took the Creekside trail and then the Northridge trail. They were both enjoyable but were nothing I would travel more than 20 minutes to hike. Good elevation on the Northridge trail. The Creekside trail was very shaded with some beautiful trees and would probably be even prettier in the winter or spring when the creek has water in it. read more

This is a great hiking area. It's a nice steep uphill hike, and the view at the top is awesome. There's also a flat hike along the creek that begins on the north side of the park. This park does not allow dogs, and I think that's because there's a lot of horses that use the trail. I'm a dog lover, but horses can be spooked even by a small dog. It could lead to a bad accident. I think Foothill Park up the road allows dogs. read more

I love this place! My family and I hike here all the time. I love taking the trail by the creek that leads to a pond. The pond is filled with Bullfrogs, Geese, and we saw a Blue Hereon nesting last time we went. This trail offer just enough sun and shade. Great for kids. I am bummed that there are no dogs allowed. Parking is free on Faught Rd, but you have to pay$$ to park in the parking lot. read more

I try to make it to Shiloh for a run at least once a week. It's kind of small but has a good variety of terrain to be experienced on it's multiple trails, which are easy to mix and match for a bit of variety. The view from the top is pretty cool too. Haven't seen a rattlesnake or a mountain lion yet, but I am sure they are around. My car hasn't been broken in to either. In my book, Shiloh gets marks over Foothill, it's not anywhere near as crowded. read more

I have been mountain biking Shiloh Park since before it became a park. There was no Mayacama or Shiloh Ridge either. Those were the good old days because you would not see a soul. Now it is O.K to mountain bike but is a really good trail run. Too many people to really enjoy a ride as the trails are somewhat steep and there are a lot of blind corners. Still a very good park very close to home. Oh and I have seen numerous rattlesnakes as well as coyote and bobcats. My wife has seen a mountain lion at the top of the lookout so they are there as well. read more

My husband and I went up on the 4th of July. First time I had been up there since the park was new. We did the Vista, Ridge View, Pond and Creek side trail. Did about 4.8 miles in little over a hour. I am pooped! Great hike, great views and good for mountain bikes. I wish dogs were allowed. A lot of horse dung! read more

The trail to left is a great workout. You are walking on a pretty steep incline for a while. It's beautiful but NO DOGS. Bathrooms on site which is nice and picnic area. On a side note, I would highly suggest getting a regional parks pass. It's around 60 bucks for a year but you get free parking at all the regional parks, including Doran and Ragle which is nice because I take my kids there quite a bit. It pays for itself in long wrong and totally worth it. You can get one online or at Oliver's Market. read more

This is an excellent park. One reason is that it is very close to our home. The trails vary in length and difficulty. Yesterday we did the northern trail which took about 45 minutes with moderate difficulty. View from the top is excellent. You share the trail with bikes and horses but not many of the former.
