Pretty nice and relaxing stroll/jog with a water feature if one doesn't want anything too strenuous with incline. It is basically several trails that go around a reservoir (Spring Lake). The circumference of the lake is about a 2 mile flat loop. Upon entering the park felt very bizarre. You leave a nice neighborhood with nice homes then in a blink of an eye, you are surrounded by bare trees covered in moss surrounded by tons of small flat boulders. It was so bare and quiet that it felt like this portion of the earth had died. Very bizarre. You'll eventually find the parking lots which all connect together in some form. There's an $8 fee here. You can't see the lake from much of the parking lot, maybe in a few spots like where a boat ramp might be. I had to use a map in my hiking app to find which direction the lake was at. Once at the lake there are pretty much 2 trails that go around the same lake. 1 is at lake level and is a dirt trail. So it has a more hiking feel as the trail is rough with lots of heavy brush on the sides. Even tho lake level you'll only get a glimpse of the lake in only a few spots. That's because the brush is so thick and over grown that it'll block views to the water since you are at lake level. The second trail is a paved trail that is above lake level, so from most spots you are looking down on the lake. This is the trail to take if you want to take pics or just admire the water views. Also the trail to take if you want to bike or jog as it is a wider and smoother trail than the dirt one at lake level. I saw a separate swimming lagoon on one of the corners. It wasn't in operation in October when I went but looks like it could be a popular spot during the warm summer Santa Rosa months. This area of the lake is also the most landscaped as I saw lawn areas with picnic benches and nicer trees alongside the lake, even some very pretty small redwoods. I enjoyed my views most on this side of the lake. You can also add length to your route by connecting this loop with other trails. There's even a loop that connects this loop that goes to another smaller lake, which would make your route now closer to 4 miles. Nice spot may even have to bring a group here someday for a picnic day if ever back in the area.
I love to come here for walks around the lake with my dog, and sometimes bike rides. It's a nice place to get some exercise outdoors and enjoy nature. In the spring time there are lots of cute baby birds such as ducks,geese, turkeys and quail. It can be rather crowded on the weekends and after work hours. I usually try to avoid those times. I am very thankful to have such a wonderful park in our city. This place is definitely on my top 5 list of best things about Santa Rosa!
The park is beautiful and well-maintained, just a 2-hour drive from us. The ranger at the entrance gave us a warm welcome, and the campsites were pleasant with plenty of shade in most areas. Our restroom was clean and even had hot water. Showers work with coins, so it's best to bring quarters. I especially enjoyed walking around the park--it's such a peaceful place. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be my go-to spot for an afternoon walk.
We love to visit Spring Lake and picnic or walk/hike. One of the most beautiful and peaceful spots in Santa Rosa, this park is a gem.

I have held several birthday parties here as well. I have hiked, biked and paddled at Spring Lake. Today I had the pleasure of volunteering for the Dog Bark event sponsored by Sonoma County Regional Parks- what a treat! Also I had food from the snack bar for the first time- loved the veggie burger.
Great park to bring the entire family! I met up with my girlfriend as we both have little ones and had an adorable picnic, went on the carousel. We were hoping to go on the train but I believe it opens back up during the summer. Overall park was clean, plenty of trash cans around every corner.
Wow!! For a six dollar parking pass, you get this giant park and also along with $10 for a two hour day pass for your kids to go on this crazy outdoor jumping water pad with lifeguards present and your child in a life fest there's nothing to worry about!! My niece had a birthday party at this particular event so we tagged along just to check it out!! Much to our surprise, we found out this particular. Sunday was the last Sunday that this blowup outdoor jumpy house was set up on the lake for humans! Lol the following weekend there would be a remodel and a jumpy house for dogs or some sort of platform jumping area for dogs! Since I have two huskies and one loves , the water we will probably be back!! Lol I was also surprised by this particular locations, Cafe and their array of different vegan and vegetarian as well as carnivore dishes! Lol they also had barbecued oysters for sale, and Johny pops for sale which are organic fruit bars! I was rather surprised, considering most places sell the normal, 7-Eleven style foods! Lol no offense to 7-Eleven, but I can't stomach any of that! Yet an impossible Var I could definitely Take on!!
A favorite place to walk. Paved all the way around the lake. Beautiful views and I especially like the Children's remembrance garden. Each mosaic tells a visual story about the child who has passed. Very peaceful and a wonderful way to be remembered. The mosaic's are beautiful and creative.
This is a pretty park with recreational activities offered. We were lucky to get the kids to play at the lake where they had swimming available at the lake during the summer. Life guards were available to watch the kids and the ones who were able to play at the water play. During fall, winter and spring the park makes for pretty hikes with different terrains available. Some parts of the park offer exercise areas when walking, places to kayak, bike, and camp as well.
Beautiful State Park! One of our gems in Santa Rosa. Great for many activities. Hiking, running, fishing, swimming, BBQ, birthdays, waterpark, camping, relaxing, scenery, kayaking, boats, feeding ducks, and much more. The staff, lifeguards and regional park managers are always very nice and friendly. They are helpful with any questions. The park itself is always clean. If you have parties they make sure to give you plenty of trash bags to get rid of any trash etc. If your looking for a peaceful walk, a place to celebrate or workout. This would be it. Beautiful park.
Spring Lake is a charm in the middle of city life. Nature at it's best.. huge open clean spaces, trails, continuous lake with pristine clear water sparkling on a sunny day.. geese flying around fearlessly as if it's their natural habitat, several places for group picnics/gatherings.. On Sundays the entry is free of charge. The place is only 11 minutes drive from my home and it seems I will be going there quite frequently, hereon :) Much recommended!
If you happen to find yourself in Santa Rosa, this bucolic 320-acre park is well worth seeking out if you've got a couple of hours to chill and take a walk. The old-fashioned name sounds like a place where Barney took Thelma Lou to canoodle on "The Andy Griffith Show". But I later remembered that was Myers Lake so what was I thinking of? Besides, Barney would balk at the $7 entrance fee. In the eastern part of town, the park boasts, you guessed it, a reservoir called Spring Lake, and a 2.3 loop trail that affords nice views through the entire route. That was the main appeal for me, especially since most of it was paved and quite flat with plenty of bird sightings if you're the birdwatcher type. It certainly attracts a lot of fishing enthusiasts as I passed by a lot of them along the way. Doing a walkabout isn't your only option here as there are facilities for swimming, boating, and camping. Availability appeared to be seasonal, so I'd contact the park district if you want to take advantage. As for me, I just looped the 72-acre lake three times to get my FitBit steps in. Spring Lake Regional Park is outside of Santa Rosa. It features 10 miles of trails for hiking/biking/riding, options for boating and floating, campsites, and picnic areas. There is a seasonal swimming lagoon with inflatable water park. The park is open to dogs on leash. Parking is $7. My family was looking to go on some kind of outdoor adventure this summer. (We usually hang out by eating or watching TV.) However we decided that to canoe down the Russian River might be a little too intense for us, and we wanted to bring along the doggos. So we ended up at Spring Lake. It was a great option for all of us -- for my mom to sit and read, for my sister and I to go out on paddle boards, and for my brother to walk the dogs around the lake. The lake does occasionally suffer from toxic algae blooms, which the bored teenagers doing paddleboard rentals will not volunteer information about, so look out for signs informing you of this issue. While I was tempted to pay for entry to the inflatable waterpark, I figured I'd let the 10-year-olds have it to themselves this time. (This area does have a capacity and it sells out so consider buying tix online in advance.) If I lived closer, I could see how I might get bored of this park. But for the once a year family outing, it was perfect!
We just had a great day swimming at Spring Lake. My two toddlers had a blast. They have plenty of bathrooms and lots of lifeguards on duty. They have a little food shack with burgers, chips and drinks and things like that. The only negative was the water seemed a little dirty, there was a lot of duck feathers floating around and some duck poop that would float by. Not really sure how you can control that but otherwise we had a really fun day in the sun. We will be back for sure. We will have to try the waterpark next time - that place looks like an absolute blast! read more

This County park is squished between a City park (Howarth) and State park (Annadel), and is always heavily trafficked because it has something for everyone! Fishing, boats, swimming (seasonal), walking, hiking, biking, working out etc. I'm more of a hiker so stick to the trails on the outskirts as much as possible to avoid the heavily stroller populated cement loop. Overall it's a solid place to get a fresh of breath air and some good steps in. Portions of the lake are currently looking very (for lack of a better word) "gross" due to the intense algae blooms. I believe they are seasonal so hopefully it clears up by Summer. Highly suggest checking this park out but would recommend doing so in the morning and weekdays so it's not as busy. Parking costs $ but there are plenty of free access points that require just a few more steps. Please practice Leave No Trace principles throughout the park! Happy trails! read more

This review is going to be solely based on the campgrounds, which I've camped at 4 times now before and during COVID. I'm sure all the other reviews will cover the aesthetics about the park itself and things to do. Campsites: Reserve online and ahead of time; people seem to book up sites. I don't book super far advance so I usually have to occasionally check if there's an opening. I haven't tried doing a walk in spot, but it's unclear if they still have those. The campsites are fairly spaced out and usually have some even ground for laying down a tent. For whatever reason my fiance and I always seem to end up at site 3, which is a good spot for 2 people and has mixed shade (you can pitch the tent under a tree). I wouldn't recommend it if you needed 2 tents. I've also done site 11 which is shaded and had room for an 8 person tent; it's a little more on the dirt / dried grass though. Restroom + Showers: Restroom and showers are pretty clean for a campground so I have no complaints there. They restrooms have soap, but I always recommend bringing some just in case. I also recommend bringing flip flops for the shower floor. The showers only take quarters too - it's $2.00 for 5 min including hot water. There's no option for a "free" cold shower either, so you'll need quarters regardless. The restrooms are also locked by a number code, which you can get from the camp host. Amenities: The camp host sells bundles of wood, at the time they were $20 a bag and lasted us a night and morning campfire. Each campsite comes with a bench and a fire pit that comes with a grill ring. There are also storage lockers to put stuff in... they're usually filled with dust/cobwebs so I never really use them (I don't mind putting stuff in the car at night). There's also nearby potable water from a spout. One of the other things I like about this campsite is that they actually have a washing station outside of the restroom for washing dishes/pans. I'm not a fan of disposable plates and prefer eating on reusable outdoor plates / silverware ... so this makes cleaning a lot easier. Things to Know: - There's actually a list they post at the campground of how the shade looks like for each site. Some sites have shade, partial shade, or no shade at all. A little important especially for when it gets hot. For some reason it's not posted on the actual campground website, but I did post it on here awhile ago for reference ( too bad Yelp won't attach it to my review). - Depending on the time of the year, it can get pretty loud at night. In the spring time it was usually pretty peaceful at night, but late summer we were kept up by a loud drinking party nearby. Obviously with the pandemic large gatherings are prohibited... so our last visit during COVID was actually very peaceful. - In addition to the usual wanderers of raccoons and squirrels... they also have turkeys. I don't run into wild turkeys where I usually live, but they can be pretty aggressive like goose if you aggravate them (I watched a family's young child get chased by one). Overall - I enjoy this campsite for a quick getaway. It's a great starter campground for people to get used to camping, since it's close to stores has good amenities. read more

We decided to take a quick walk to break up our long drive. Spring Lake was perfect. It was obvious local residents love their park. The walking path was paved and about 2.5 miles, somewhat short but 2 times around should be enough exercise. Don't use the map as the path is not signed. Hang a right when you enter the park and you will see the path from the parking lot. read more

I have been to this park several times and really enjoy going to this park! One of the many reasons is that it has so much to offer and is great for all ages. They have a flat trail around the lake that is an easy walk with great views of the lakes. There are also many other trails that you can take. You can go camping here if you would like as well and welcomes tent, trailer, and RV campers year-round and features several sleeping cabins. The parking fee is $7 per day if you visit for the day unless you buy the Sonoma Regional Parks Pass. If this is a place you plan on going often, I would consider getting the yearly regional park pass. It has benches around the lake where you can rest, enjoy views of the lake, and/or chat with others. You can also rent kayaks in order to go on the lake. If you own a kayak, you can take your kayak to this place and there is parking right by the boat dock. We love kayaking here and have seen turtles, swans, and Canadian geese while paddling around. People also go fishing here. People go fishing from boats on the lake. You need to wear a lifejacket if you are going fishing or kayaking on the lake. They have at least one picnic table near the boating dock, if not more around the park, and we have seen people having parties here. We have also seen people having picnics and it's a great park for this. This place is dog friendly so you can take your four legged friends here for a nice walk around the lake. read more

This park has been on my list for a while. I wish I hadn't waited so long. It is absolutely beautiful. Restrooms are clean. I detoured and took many of the side trails which I enjoyed thoroughly. For first timers if you're going to do that definitely download a map. I look forward to coming back and adventuring more. read more

Spring Lake is one of many parks run by Sonoma County Regional Parks. I bought a $69 annual pass to all of the parks including Spring Lake Park. It's $7 per visit without the pass so for me, the annual pass pays for itself in 10 visits. I went on a Friday to avoid the weekend crowds. There were 2 parking spaces left close to the kayak launching area. I suspect with summer break from the schools that many parents were bringing their kids here. I unloaded my kayak in the paved parking lot and proceeded to tow it to the launching area which is where the kayak, paddleboat, and paddleboards rentals are located. Life vests are required and I brought my own CO2 inflatable one which is way less bulky than the typical life vest. Spring Lake is wonderful and there are ducks, Canada geese, and swans that grace the lake. The geese kept coming up to me for food but I had none to give on this trip. This is a fantastic lake and when I return soon, I will have my fishing gear on board to do some fishing. read more
What a great park I found here in Santa Rosa. Must pay to park $7.00. However, there's plenty of walking trails, biking and horse trails. In the Summer months you can swim in a certain area and there are lifeguards. There's kayaking as well and you can rent the kayaks from the park. So beautiful and peaceful can't wait to get my "walk on" again. Easily can do 2-3 mile walk. read more

What a great trail here! It's versatile with its textures and ever changing locations. One minute you're looking at the lake, the next you're overlooking mountains of green pasture. It's very beautiful. Many different paths you can take, and there's a educational center, bathrooms, boat rentals, seasonal stuff for sure. It's very well equipped for a park. What's nice about this lake is that it takes 3.04 miles to fully circle it. There are stopping points with bars to do pull ups, walk a little more there's another area to jump from log to log... walk a little more an area to ect.ect. You can bike around also, their is a road paved for it. You can fish if you like. They have a snack area where you can have the kids swim and buy a glass of wine or beer for yourself and read a book. They have canoes and paddle boards available to rent out 12$ an hour which you have to return by 5-6pm I believe. Not a bad way to spend your summer days =) read more
5 stars, but know which site to reserve. A couple of them offer little to no shade and can be brutal during a warmer day. We were in site 31 in October and had to vacate the spot from 2:00-4:30 because it was just too hot to hang out for very long. If we had known, we would have brought our easy-up. It's a quirky little campground, nestled between a suburb and 2 lakes. Check-in was super fast and friendly. Most of the sites are quite large. The only private sites are the walk-in sites and you may encounter people walking past you on some of those, as they are in the area that leads to spring lake. Most of the sites have very level areas for tents. The site tables are huge. The 3 cabins were under construction when we were there and they look like they will be a great addition. The non-shower side of the bathroom has hot water and soap. The only downside is that there isn't a place to set anything. The shower bathrooms on the backside of the building are great. The camp host sells firewood for $10 a bundle. The swimming lagoon, restaurant and such were closed for the season but they look super fun. What a great place to bring the family. I wish there were more places like this in California. We will definitely be back! My favorite sites: 3, 5, 10, 18, 21, 22, 29 Inside scoop: On the road to the group camp and boat dock, there is a section of spooky trees. Some of the trees are dead and are covered with moss. It would be perfect for a Halloween costume photo shoot. read more

I found this place on an app called "All trails" as we were looking for a place to hike with two dogs in the Napa area, so let me first point out this is NOT a hiking place. It's more of a park in which you walk around spring lake, where more than half of the path is paved. Regardless I found this place beautiful and perfect for anyone in about every age. They have a benches all around the lake with amazing view where you can sit back, read a book or just enjoy some peace and quiet. They also have about 9-10 working out stations, so you can run around the lake and make frequent stops to use these stations to get a full body work out. It is a good alternative for times like these when all gyms are closed due to Covid. Be cautious though - the part of the park that is not paved has a lot of poison oak, so you don't want to go off trail and keep an eye on your kids or dogs cause it can be a painful ordeal. read more

Had fun taking the baby on a stroll here. I liked the paved Spring Lake Trail that goes along the lake and the wide lanes. It has a beautiful view and is a dog friendly park. People have to wear masks and socially distance. Saw people canoeing, horse back riding, fishing and boating here. Swim area is closed currently. I got the Sonoma county parks pass that got me in for free instead of paying the $7 fee. I will definitely be coming back. read more
I love this park and lake! For $10 kids can play on the blow up obstacle course all day and for $12 an hour they have SUPs, canoes, and kayaks to rent. The Otter cafe has tasty, reasonably priced food and drinks (including beer, wine, and sangria). All in all, a great place to spend a gorgeous summer day with kids. read more

Hello all, good day! Is there any pedal boat rental? And if they do which entrance to this park do I have to enter for renting boat/pedal etc. ? Thanks in advance!
The boat rentals aren't open yet. Located on Montgomery Rd to Channel Drive to Violeta entrance to Springlake Park near the Otter Cafe
Do you get Cell phone reception there? I have T-mobile?
I have T-Mobile too. You get a good LTE signal there in various spot-- good for texting and calling. But social media viewing and pic sends are a struggle.
Is there any campground grills?
The campgrounds don't have a grill, just a grate on to of a firepit. The day-use picnic areas have a grill.
