The cabins vary based on your preference and the owners are very friendly and have a desire to please the guests. They went over and above for us for our anniversary and two nights we were the only diners that they served. Most places would normally not open if they only had two guests. This is a multi season lodge that is wonderful for snow sledding, hunting and canoeing. I cannot wait to revisit them next summer to enjoy the property in the warm weather.

Of…read morethe 3 campgrounds we have stayed in the south entrance Baxter State park area, they have the best showers and bathroom facilities, hands down the best customer service, and the quiet sound of water rapids to sleep to each night. They also have a wood fired pizza oven and the best fishing around right on site. Their web site could use a little work for more details (each camp site is different) however, unless they are fully booked, they will work with you to find the site that is right for you. Email seems to be the best contact option. Don, the manager, was extremely helpful and always went the extra mile to ensure our stay exceeded our expectations. If you are use to tenting or camping without hookups and your blue tooth ear piece and your tablet in front of you, you'll love this place. However, they do have limited electrical and water hookups if you need them on the RV sites. Showers are on the office side. The wild side (other side) just has out houses. This place really is a gem for nature lovers!

So you hike Katahdin (see my Katahdin / BSP review). Get all sweaty and nasty. Get beat up by the mountain. You could camp out at roaring brook (many people do this)... OR, you could drive 40 minutes to the Big Moose Inn. Check in, some very nice ladies / staff / help... You feel at home right away. It's a rustic, Maine type place... Moose and bear heads hanging from the wall. Comfortable couches and furniture in the lobby. You can sit outside on a warm summer night. Then you take a well deserved (hot) shower. You won't be able to do this at Roaring Brook. Put on some clean clothes; go down to the bar, order a Baxter IPA (tall / large pour). It will taste sooooo good. And all the food at this place was awesome! They have a bar menu and restaurant menu. Everything is good. Quesadilla, burgers, salmon, tri-tip... EveryTHANG. You belly up, get a nice meal in you. Go back lay down in comfortable bed. Watch a little TV. I was lights out by 9-pm... Slept soundly - like a rock! Next moanin' they have complimentary breakfast with hot breakfast sandwich and typical contintental breakfast stuff... Then drive the Golden Road back. Helluva trip.

It's only 10 minutes from the Park gate. The sites were spacious and well taken care of, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Almost all are close to the water -- perfect for waking up with the loons! Outhouses were clean and the staff was chill. At the main lodge you can grab a beer, hang out in the indoor/outdoor communal spaces, or go for a paddle on the lake. I'll definitely consider staying here for my next trip!

Fantastic location! We had 10 people attend for a work offsite. Stayed in two large cabins and…read morerented snowmobiles from them as well. Mid- February. Restaurant is closed Tuesday and Wednesday (the food and drink choice is AMAZING). Brewery is open for breakfast 7-10 everyday and lunch/dinner everyday. (Their dark oat stout is amazing.). Plenty of linens provided. Plenty of dishes and baking utensils. Very responsive in phone for emails. Plenty of good trails right off the camp. About 1.5 hours from BGR airport. Little bit of non-paved roads but it's not extreme. The suv was needed in winter. One of the cabins had a gas grill which is great but our other one didn't. I wish they had a bonfire area but it was REALLY cold. -10 at night. It would be nice if they salted some of the walking areas but we had snow boots so all good. Rentals were easy!!! Rented snow mobiles and full gear with heated helmet visor. Totally worth it. We had our own local guide with us so I can't comment on those services. Will stay again!

OH WOW!!! What more…read morecan I say. But wow! This was my first time ever flying. And wow! Ok so they say that in smaller planes you feel a lot more turbulence. Pilot let us know when we went through the first bit of turbulence. (He knew it was my first time flying) felt like a rollercoaster to me. I was good with it. He explained all the safety protocols preflight and explained how the headsets worked. He made sure to included our names several times during the flight to keep us included. His knowledge of the area was incredible and it was great learning about the area. He did try and find a moose and was successful. It was in the hotter part of the day, during a heat wave and he found one for us. (The only one we saw on our trip to Maine) It was such a great time seeing the area from a bird's eye view. Especially Mt. Katahdin. Because I am outdoorsy, but not outdoorsy enough to want to climb that mountain. Lol. Only way I was gonna be able to see the top of that thing was from the air. It was one of the most exciting, highlights of my trip. I will always remember this trip above all others because it was the first time I ever flew. If you want a good experience, fly Katahdin Air. They are amazing people, who care about their customers and the area in which they fly. Totally amazing, would definitely fly with them again!!!!

They go above and beyond to make you not only comfortable and happy, but to feel as part of family. I can't express how satisfied we have always been and how appreciative we are to have met them and stay with them. It's definitely a spot we will return to often. And let me tell you, the cooking, it's amazing. She makes sure your food is just as you like it. She brings you cookies and candy on your pillow. I mean these people amaze me every time we're there.
