Instead we used a huge national company. In our defense, we didn't know about Boss Energy when we made our choice and the big company looked like a local company because the sales person was a local person we had met socially. Things went pretty well for the first year but then the big company went belly up and our "friend" ghosted us. Now the system has shut itself down and our customer service person at Berkeley Electric suggested we call Boss Energy. Jared answered the phone (what- an actual human?? How 1990s of them!) and immediately went into problem solving mode. The problem is not yet fixed, but I have a good feeling about Boss Energy!

We thought that would mean better customer service. They were pretty good/responsive during the design and installation phase. After installation, getting them to come back and fix issues was extremely difficult. We've had 3 years of low power bills, which has been fantastic. However, the storm in September took out an entire row of panels. Yet again, customer service is completely lacking. They don't return calls or E-mails, promise to come by and miss the appointment, say that parts are ordered but actually aren't, etc... Basically, their Sales Department gets a B+ and their Customer Support Department gets a D-. Over the life of your panels, you will contact Customer Service many more times than Sales, so having a person that is actually responsive really matters. If you are thinking about Solar Panels, be sure to shop around AND ask specific questions about support after the initial install.
