I'm not a sun bather and don't do tanning beds, so when my family was turning ten shades darker for an upcoming trip to Florida I decided to give this place a try. I've never sprayed before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I should add that I'm a super white, pale blond chick. When you walk in, the gal running the desk and greeting you is your spray-er lady. It's as comfortable as you would imagine having someone spray every inch of your body while you're naked. The spray is kind of cold so they put a little heater in the room to keep you warm. When the spray goes on it looks good, but streaky, but that's no problem you just gently towel off the excess and it doesn't really effect the overall tan. In a good solid ten minutes you are done and ogling you're newly bronzed skin. I honestly couldn't believe how good it looked and how much better it made me look. This must be why everyone tans all the time! The day after your spray is the best. The tan is even and beautiful. You're feeling pretty awesome and very tan. People are looking at you and smiling back because you've got this giant smile on your face because you're so tan that your teeth look super while and your hair looks better and blonder! You're feeling skinny. How darker skin makes you feel and look skinny is beyond me. Science, you should look into this. Anyways, you're feeling skinny, you're smiling, you're blond and happy strutting around town with your new tan with the wind at your back and the world at your fingertips. You can do anything with this tan. The next day you're feeling a little less tan but you're still feeling pretty good. You're still smiling and your hair is still blond and teeth white and you're still looking for the perfect outfit to highlight your beautiful glowing tan and your newly sculpted muscles. The third day you're still feeling that "tan high" that you had when you were first sprayed but it's seriously starting to diminish and you're starting to settle into "post-tanning-depression" You are kind of craving more spray. More tan. You're wondering if you can spray again to keep up with it but then decide it's too expensive and resort to at-home remedies. The fourth day you're rubbing self tanner all over yourself. Your knees look about five shades darker than the rest of your body. You are happy with the way it is fading in that it doesn't look too ridiculous but you're craving more tan and you're starting to feel like a tan-addict. The fifth day you're not really smiling anymore but reminiscing about your tan and those times you were feeling so fit and thin and pretty. You're looking at old pictures and wondering if you'll ever be that tan again. The sixth day you're in the shower scrubbing your knees and elbow creases. You're not so worried about your tan anymore as you're more bothered by the fattier whiter droopy body you've recently acquired. The seventh day you're back to your old self and write a yelp review. It was quite the experience. I really liked how it looked but it is really expensive for how long it lasts. Maybe if they offered some sort of mid-week touch up with the $30 +tip that you pay I would spray on a more regular basis. Maybe a photo shoot while you're tan happy pretty and thin to remember it all by would sweeten the deal. read more

What a terrible experience! No disposable coverings available, (employee said they ran out ) so my only choice was to stand naked in front of a girl who might have been 17. Spray color ran down my legs, so I had streaks. My feet were dark orange. My palms were stained. What a mess. I will never visit this tanning salon again! read more

I was sprayed by Julia last week for my bachelorette party that weekend. She did an absolutely amazing job! She made me feel super comfortable with great small talk the whole time and even mentioned a wedding package that I didn't know they had but wasn't pushy about it. They have a nice heater in the room to help with the temperature of the spray too. My tan came out perfect and I received a ton of compliments! Definitely a place I would go to again in a heart beat! read more

Excellent customer service-friendly staff-clean facility- and always a perfect tan!! With a hectic schedule I don't always have the ability to make appointments- I have always had my daughter do "walk in's" and have not had to wait once! She is seen immediately and the tan is quick, easy, and always looks great! Having a technician spray manually rather than a machine makes for complete coverage and always a natural look. This place saved my life! So my friend is getting married on saturday and I'm the maid of honor. And like a fool, I decide to get a spray tan for the wedding. I went to Tan World and got the Versa Tan. The staff at Tan World convinced me that this particular type of spray tan was much better than all of the other spray tans out there because the color was great and that it would never streak. Much to my horror I woke up this morning and had a big orange streak on my arm and my right hand was the color of a pumpkin .I freaked out because the wedding is only two days away. I tried all of the suggestions online (lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, baking soda, etc) and nothing worked. Knowing that Shine specializes in spray tans, I called to see if they sold any type of spray tan corrector. The gal I spoke with (Liz?) told me to come in and she would try to correct it by using the airbrush and trying to blend it in. She told me she would do it for no charge. I told her that I didn't feel right about not being charged because it was not as if she was the one that had messed things up in the first place. She insisted on doing it free of charge and said she was confident that once I saw the results, I would become a regular customer. Well, she was right. When I got there Liz was so incredibly helpful. She treated my problem like it was her problem. She was so concerned with making sure I didn't look like a fool standing up on that altar. She tried everything she could to remove the previous spray tan and then airbrushed me paying special attention to try to make everything blend together. She did a great job! It's not perfect, but everything looks sooooo much better than it did before! Now I won't be forced to wear a cardigan over my stunning sleeveless dress. Thank you Liz! I was not very impressed with the service or the tan I received from Shine. Booking and arrival: I made an appointment for two spray tans on a Thursday evening close to their closing time (I live a couple hours away and would be in town before leaving for vacation with my family the next morning). When we arrived, my sister was taken back within a few minutes to get started on her tan. I waited about 15 minutes and she was nearly done by the time I got called back. You have to pick a color, and we weren't sure what color to go with. The receptionist was not of any help though we asked for advice. They recommend you pick a color based on how well you tan naturally. If I tanned well naturally, do you think I would be getting a spray tan? Getting sprayed: My technician didn't give me any instructions or suggestions. Previously when I've gotten spray tans, the technician has been very helpful, reminding me to remove jewelry, disrobe to a certain level or whatever I'm comfortable with, etc. and there was not that level of service here. The spray itself was fine - the technician didn't make any small talk nor did she walk me through the tan particularly well. I knew what to expect only because I've been sprayed before at other places, so overall that was okay. As my sister and I were getting ready to leave - gathering our stuff and wiping off our hands - the two employees started cleaning up the tan rooms and were talking negatively about customers - making rude comments about other customers and complaining about how gross it was. It was extremely unprofessional. When I went to pay, the person ringing me up made it seem as though she was giving me a "deal" by giving me the price for two tans (as opposed to double the price of one tan, you get a few dollars off if you book two tans), even though I made an appointment for two tans and was paying for both myself. The tan: As for the tan itself, definitely nothing to write home about. Their solution is sticky (a lot of other places use powder or provide powder for you to dust on yourself to decrease the stickiness) and the color wasn't great. The second and third days were average and it was pretty much gone after that (even with good post-care). Conclusion: I will not be going back to Shine. The service was poor and the tan was barely average. read more

I am experienced with spray tans and this was an awful tan. I exfoliated prior and know how to take care of my skin afterwards. I had to cover my neck and chest area with foundation my entire vacation... A machine spray tanner does a better job than this place! read more

I will never ever try this place again. The customer service is awful. I was 5 minutes late for an appointment because their location changed in the Shops of Legacy and I had to drive around for a few minutes to find the new location. There was no one at the desk when I arrived and I sat and waited for 5-10 minutes before someone showed up. I was turned away and asked to come back an hour and 45 minutes later because they were so booked. There was no one waiting in the waiting room and she had just finished with a customer. I felt like I was being kicked out and was so embarrassed. Ironic when I had an appointment and they have a big sign on the window that says "Walk Ins Welcome". I have never been so pissed at a business in my life. read more

When I first got to the salon the woman asked me what shade I wanted. I told her I wasn't sure and she discussed with me my natural skin tone, how dark I wanted to be, the event I was getting a tan for, and her own personal experiences in order to help me decide on a shade. She reccomended I do the dark and it ended up being exactly what I wanted. The tanning process was simple and only took about 15 minutes, and the woman who did the tan was professional and explained everything as she was going. The results: Within a few hours I was concerned I had gone too dark. I also had a slight streak on my chest (this was most likely my fault as I put my bra on soon after being tanned - if you can get away with it I would just not wear a bra right after being sprayed). I figured I would wait until morning and shower and see how it looked after I washed off the bronzer. They offer free touch ups so I planned to just get it touched up if need be. However, once I showered the next morning the tan was nearly perfect. It is a great shade (it just looks like you have a good, but not extreme, natural tan) and the streak almost completely disappeared, so it must have just been the bronzer. The tan is very even and not the least bit orangey. I will be using Shine again. The one draw back is that getting a full body tan is pretty pricey (nearly $40 if you tip, which you should) so it is something I can only afford to do for special events. read more

Horrible customer service!!! I have never spray tanned before, and was getting ready for a wedding this weekend. I booked an appointment for after work, 7:15pm, and was running a few minutes behind. When I called to let them know, I was told..."well, that's fine, but just so you know we're out of light and medium tan, so I'm not sure if you still wanna come in." I told the staff that I did still want to come, and would let her take a look at my skin tone to see if I would still look good with a darker tan (I tan awesome using regular beds). When I got there, I was rudely greeted and when I asked questions about the tan shades I was given ridiculous answers such as, "you can put a tan on paper, so no, I don't have any shade guides to show you. The owners don't want us to use any" and "well, I'm too pale to use any of our tans so..." I told the girl there that I didn't want to chance looking orange for the wedding I'll be in and she said "alright, Bye!" I ended up going to a local tanning salon and using their spray tan, had a great experience, and will be back again. I will never use Shine or recommend it to anyone...the customer service sucks!!! read more

She works pretty quickly, so make sure you tell her what you want/need right away! Did an amazing job for my wedding. Would highly suggest!

I felt like I would give this establishment another chance after my last experience. Boy, did I make another mistake. No one was at the front desk when I walked in. I had an appointment and still waited 15 minutes until being seen. A woman rushed in the front door and to the back room without saying as much as a hello. She walked back to the front and called my name. She ended up spray tanning me and was again, very abrupt and rude. She really did not care what she was doing and seemed as though I was wasting her time. The tan turned out ok but I feel offended with the level of service I received. As I was leaving I paid with the receptionist who was not there when I first arrived. Long story short the woman who spray tanned me was actually the owner. I feel that this abysmal service should not be patronized by anyone. No one deserves to feel the way that I did after being treated in that manner. read more
