In need of sake after receiving three needles in the arm in preparation for South America trip. On my own again and to their credit, no eye brow or questions raised when I order enough for three people. Can't be helped when I have to try multiple items to decide if this place is worth returning to.
I ordered the following (because I judge every Japanese restaurant by these dishes): salmon nigiri, agedashi tofu, takoyaki, spider roll, and yakitori (I got their pork belly buta). Oh, and sake for one (or two) of course. Edamame is complementary.
Salmon nigiri was simply scrumptious, if expensive (about $4 a piece!), but clearly you're paying for quality. Sad they didn't have uni (actually, it's hard to find in Melbourne anywhere so not surprised).
Spider roll, takoyaki were well executed but agedashi could be lighter. Most disappointed by the yakitori - it was kinda boring with just a bit of salt and pepper. The flavour of the pork belly just didn't come through. Had better in izakaya chuji on Lonsdale. The sake - hits the spot.
Despite priceyness, will def come back to try their other items because service was five stars. Going home happy, full and warm, almost forgetting my sore arm. read more
